I find Goondip superior so far, because more games are played of higher standard, most games on oli is duel games, which defeats the prupose of diplomacy.

Vote for webdip. The standard on CoN is lower with loads of CD's. Also, I am not a massive fan of the new graphics.

it is very clear simple to play...not possibility of confusion....server more quick...and moreover have 5 maps (Classic Europe,Europe+Egypt, Colonial and Ancient Greek map[spectacular])
Coming soon....it will arrive "the Gathering Storm" ...the Map with 13 players that include enitre World also South and North America

The long answer is that Kestas wants webdiplomacy.net to have the default settings of a webdiplomacy installation. Additionally, he wants the default installation to only contain a couple of the more popular variants. Therefore webdiplomacy.net will only have those few more popular variants.

Both olidip (tinyurl.com/olidip or oli.rhoen.de/webdiplomacy) and goondip (goondip.com) are webdiplomacy.net installations with a bunch of extra variants turned on. If you want to play variants, you can register there.

goondip also has a few other nice features but is an older version of the code and is only being sustained as is.

I miss widescreen mode.

im thinking just a few of the varients on here that most will enjoy, like the crowded one, and maybe the choas, and possibly a 3 player one or something.

The point and click interface, acceptable youngstown variant, and the fact that I'm in the top 40 through lack of better players (I need this to boost my ego so that when I come here, and lose 4 out of 5 games I can keep playing) are the only things keeping me on CoN formally known as WorldLeadersthegame.

By the way the Greek map is extremely unbalanced and they've been working on it for months along with Gathering Storm. Granted with the new transition to CoN maybe its a sign that these new adjustments are nearby.

Well the game is Diplomacy right? The most important thing, above variants, above pointyclicky features, and above prettiness, is the people with which you play. The strongest players are all here at webdip, so anyone looking for a real challenge and a real game will find that here. =)

That, and the scoring system at CoN is retarded. Otherwise, it's definitely one of the better sites out there.

my problem with CoN is the points system and the players. the bells and whistles are nice, the speed is nice, but a game is only a game with players. and the people on this site are by far the most aggressive/ submissive sneaky bastards out there and ill be damned if i don't love them for it

CoN is a site for RISK players that want to try Diplomacy.
webdip is old-school...
