Wanted: someone with time & knowledge of php and
As you may know, come this fall, I shall be at university. As a consequence, I likely won't have as much time on my hands as I do now.
Therefore, I would like to have the tournaments to be made 'official' so that they are easier to run and will take less of my time and effort, since otherwise I'd be forced to let them go. More inside...

Winning by having 18 supply centers at end of spring turn?
My opponent and I each have 17 supply centers, heading into spring turn. Does winner need to have 18 after fall turn, or will 18 after spring turn do it?
Thanks.

@Draugnar,
"But realistically, I know my swearing is something I should try to reduce/stop. But I, too, am a flawed human being (no comments from the assholes in the peanut gallery please) and one of my biggest flaws is my mouth, closely followed by my love for poker and porn."

And don't forget coveting thy neighbors wife and daughter. And for all I know, you covet his ass as well. You can pick your definition of ass.

LOL! Thanks Dingle. You made my day! So, if one enjoys watching amateur porn with real MILFs, is that coveting thy neighbor's wife as well as thy neighbor? After all Jesus told us that all mankind was our neighbor.

I've been reading this thread with some interest. Witnessing a clash of ego's w/o physical interference can be entertaining. Here's my take:

- daytripper should engage in more socially-enhancing activities such as intramural team sports, church, and dating, where social and inter-personal misconduct has 'real world' effects. The course of his actions (1. willingness to cheat under seemingly 'safe' conditions, 2. inability to take responsibility for his actions by 'expecting' redemption, while still engaging in competitive discourse, and 3. immediately attempting to arouse more attention by making a challenging remark on a sensitive subject) demonstrate social flaws of character. Sounds like a petty shop-lifter.

- J.C, G.D., f***, b**** are all offensive when they are delivered with offensive intentions.

I didn't want more attention lol, I was stating my opinion hahaha

I'm starting to love this thread xD

COTW +100. Yes, it is all about intentions. My intention when using "fucked up the game" was not to offend. It was more like saying "FUBAR'd the game."

While we're discussing terrible things, finalize your dang orders in gunboat games!
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Apr 10 UTC
Why? You agreed to a set perios of time for each turn. The person has every right to wait until it runs. Maybe they are mulling over an alternate set of orders and keep going back and forth trying to decide which they think will work best...
daytripper1993 (100 D)

@Draugnar - I agree completely. Sometimes it's a good thing to wait until the last sec to make your moves because it makes people unsure as to what you're going to do
jimgov (219 D(B))

Oh come on. In gunboat, the only reason to just save your orders is to waste time. In a live game, some people just hope they can wait out others that will go CD. If you are near the end of the game, and you are trying to get your 17th SC, and you have several alternatives...maybe. But when you save your orders in S1901 you are just trying to tick people off. Ask hellalt. He absolutely flips over this.
jimgov (219 D(B))

I forgot one other reason to save in a gunboat. You are playing two countries and have to make sure that all of your moves align without looking like they align.
Stukus (2126 D)

It's just my personal pet peeve. I have 3 Gunboat games being held up by people not finalizing right now.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Apr 10 UTC
I always finalize once I fell confident I'm doing the right thing, but there are times in the late game where you are trying to figure out what someone else will do and have contingiency orders in while you look over the detailed orders from the last couple of pahses.
shadowlurker (108 D)
07 Apr 10 UTC
i hate people who save their orders for an entire 5/10 minute period especially builds i absolutely go ape shit crazy. its a live game when you are done with your thoughts hit save, then think again then hit ready!!! its simple
pi r round (0 DX)
07 Apr 10 UTC
Agreed Shadowlurker. Builds and to a lesser extent, retreats, should not be saved for any significant period of time
KaptinKool (408 D)
07 Apr 10 UTC
The only time I have ever been angry at a player for not finalizing is when I created a game and advertised it to "people who want to finalize quickly"... then this one player didn't finalize once (everybody else did) and CD'd after 8 years, which sucked because he was at that point a large part of the game.

Beyond that, time limits are just that, I agree with Draugnar, that being said, I always like to finalize ASAP.

New ghost rankings question
Under the new ghost rankings thread, ghost said that gunboats, public press, and variants are included but weighted less. Without all of the calculus involved to make heads or tails of the rankings, can we get an approximate percentage of what they count? Like regular is 100%, while public press and gunboats count 50% and variants are 25%? Just so that I can get my head around the rankings.
