What? You like soccer? In America we send our sisters to play soccer. Here in Italy thet act like soccer is too masculine for girls. It makes me laugh. I like Rugby and that is a masculine sport but for sheer impact American football is stringer and for complexity no other sport matches it. It's like chess with real life giants.

Agreed. The Vikings have it all, an outstanding pass and rush offense. And one of the sickest defensive fronts I have seen in action. I dont think the Saints would be able to match up head to head.

The Saints have proven to me that they are unstoppable in the NFC. The Colts I don't see losing. I want to see Saints 18-0 V Colts 18-0 in the Super Bowl

As a lifelong Minnesotan, I wholeheartedly agree with the consensus on this one. I was really irritated when the Vikings went on and off with the Brett Favre thing in the Summer/Fall,.... but I think the combination of many weapons with a competent pilot has gelled into a really tough team to beat. (I wear my Twins cap every Sunday!) I only hope that Tarvaris Jackson learns well before Favre decides once again to retire,... I can't see him playing for too many years more.

I'm going to suck that Niner Kool-Aid down and say WE win the West!

SF has SEA next week, and ARI has the Vikings... likely the Vikes will win and the Niners creamed the lowly Seahwaks the first time this season...

IF that happens, the next game for each team will be...

A Monday Night Matchup at Candlestick! BIG chance there, and if the Niners win, they'll have swept the series (they won the first game this year) and have the tiebreaker.

SF then has PHI, STL, and DET.
ARI has STL, DET, GB.

SO... both teams beat the lowly Rams and Lions, Niners lose to Eagles (though hopefully not) and Cardinals lose to Packers, both teams wind up 9-7, and the Niners, with the tiebreaker, make the playoffs!


A bit difficult and out there, I know, but it IS possible... and I can dream. ;)

Super Bowl- I've said Vikings all year long, and I stick by that... it's just a question of what AFC team they'd beat... Pre-Season I said Chargers, but that looks a bit of a long shot now... Brady and the Patriots or Manning and the Colts would be an EPIC QB showdown...

I'd root for Manning vs. Favre, both really great guys, and truly two of the strongest arms and up ther with the best ever QBs ever... and Brady's a prima dona jerk...

I think the Steelers are a good black horse. Their problems have stemmed from injuries (especially Polamalu), and they should be healthy in the postseason. It all matters on if they can win out, and they do not have much competition, and if Baltimore flubs up just once, then the Steelers pretty much walk in. Otherwise, the Steelers/Ravens game will determine at least one wildcard (and if denver loses another one, both the Ravens AND Steelers will be in the post season). And if Dennis Dixon (the Steelers 3rd QB) can almost beat the Ravens in OT, then I like my chances with Big Ben...

@obiwanobiwan: There's a good chance that Arizona defeats the Packers. They have a decent pass rush and a decent secondary. The Pack has no run game and, by that time, nothing to play for.

To everyone else: Personally, as a Vikes fan, I'm kind of scared of the Saints. But we beat them last year with no offense and hardly any pass defense. If we see them again this year, I think we'll win - but it's far from a guarantee. To continue, the only team in the AFC that I wouldn't want to see in the Super Bowl is the Colts.

And, if for some ungodly reason, the Vikes don't make it to the NFC championship game, then I am really rooting for a Colts/Saints Super Bowl matchup - assuming that both teams go in undefeated. I REALLY want to take the 72 Dolphins down a notch.

haha good one Pootercannon, did you know that if the vikings win the superbowl(which they won't) that it will be a win for brett favre and not the vikings, and that packer nation will think that it is funny that the only way you could win a superbowl is with one of the greatest packer players of all times. :)
