if you get it organized though I would join. definitely need at least 48hr deadlines. I wouldn't even mind if we went 72hr with it.

72 hour deadlines would almost be required for a game with that high of a pot...

i could handle 72 hr deadlines for a game like this... but I do think 60 is plenty... 2.5 days...

I'd be up for it this fall or winter, but not concurrently... well, unless the other players are tempting to compete against... or it comes down to the wire and you really need a seventh... Yep, familiar faces indeed... I like to spice things up, so if you can get seven without me that's great by me... though I suppose I will have never played this exact combination of six opponents before, so I'm sure I can rationalize joining, of course...

Well, except if anyone from my current league joins, I certainly can't play with any of them after four straight games... which, unfortunately, includes flashman... though I'm sure I can figure out a way around that stipulation as well...

Why does everybody feel the need to have longer turns when the points get higher? I hate long games...I'm just too impatient with them. Anybody will to put some points into a faster game?

I'd prefer 36h turns, 48 max. It gets too abstract if it's longer.

I didn't see it was 72h - this will last for ages, especially with the holiday-related pauses - can we make it shorter?

To the question - it is rather normal for people to want a bit longer phases for games they consider more important - be it due to points or tournaments.

careful with these big pot games, big pot games have a bit of a history of degenerating into squalid forum disputes.

I'm with Ivo, 36 hours phases are my preference...

Rait, flash is talking about rounding up a game with just top ten ghost-rated players, you up for that?!

PS - Rait, it wouldn't be high pot, just high rating...

i prefer 36 hrs myself but I thought the interest was for long deadlines... but 36 or 42 or 48 is MUCH better as far as I'm concerned. and the original 72 hr comment was made by fortknox, so I'll put it down to 48 since thats where the majority seems to be...

if its 48 hrs... still 1500 pts...

Just to be clear, I've only committed to being a possible alternate, I'm much more interested in games with highly rated players and players I haven't seen much (flash's game and my other game), so I may have to pass on this one...

I'm somewhat interested... playing in a game with a huge pot (a large majority of my points) against the top players is scary... I'd hate to be the first out, or worse, draw italy or aus...

at this point... even assuming MM plays and fortknox accepts we are at 5... and once mapleleaf gets off his high horse, we'll be at 6 =P

In case you guys don't see the other thread... The Ghost Rating challenge game now has a fixed line up. Messages will be sent out over the next 24 hours or so. There will be time to discuss the parameters, such as turn length and pot size, before I set it but it will deffo be WTA.

well - at this point - I'm down to 1405 pts with nothing close to finishing soon... and even with DD, whom i'd be fine with playing now, we are still short

also - I might decide to quit this entire site over something that happened just tonight... (explained elsewhere in the forum)
