it seems like some level of remembering what has happened from game to game is inevitable. i'm wondering where the limit, if any, there is on that.

I was more wondering about the "help me in game 1 and I'll support you in game 2" metagaming, where one nation is in the position to give the other nation the upperhand or the win, with the agreement the favor will be returned if possible in a later game.

i.e. cross-board gaming and coercion.

I _REALLY_ hope that people in the leagues don't succumb to that temptation. That would suck, especially in a league situation.

I'd like to see that made punishable in the league by docking points!

Meta-Gaming and Cross Gaming:

Players may not enter into agreements or alliances spanning more than one game, although they may consider different players’ league positions in their decision making within a game.

Conduct:

Excessively offensive press for no good diplomatic reason is frowned upon. If a player receives press from a player of this type, they may email me about it, along with a transcript, and I shall decide whether or not I consider the press to be unacceptable. If it is, I shall warn the sender to be more careful. The reason for this is that players will play four consecutive games with the same players, and this sort of thing can make the game no longer enjoyable for certain players, defeating the object of the leagues. I shall continue my policy of light-handedness on this matter, however, because I do not wish to restrict the press that players are allowed to send.

I ask players to settle disputes with me, rather than posting them and playing them out on the forums.

I'm pretty sure metagaming on that level is specifically prohibited by the rules.

You can, however, keep overall placement in mind - ie: "don't let player X win this game, or they win the league, and push you down. So support me into your supply centers, kkthx?"

Looks like it. Kewl, just wanted to be clear and hadn't noticed that part. Maybe the comments I remember reading were involving tournies, especially F2F ones like at WorldDipCon.

Well in the qualifying round I know that my group participated knowingly in cross-board gaming, but it was seen as part of the fun. TheGhostmaker has laid down that metagaming of that sort is no longer permitted for the leagues.

Yes, I remember that well.

Although in truth, the metagaming aspect set up a stab or two as well, so the end result was not as clearly metagaming as it appeared at the time.

The major problem as I saw it was the SC counting and hence unatural endings to games. This has been addressed for the next season as well.
