Diplomacy on Wikibooks
I had never noticed that there was a Diplomacy article set on Wikibooks - I had only ever searched for Diplomacy on Wikipedia (and Uncyclopedia). But this looks like an amazingly useful resource. I wonder why it's not referenced more - because no one else has noticed it either, perhaps?

Crimes Against Diplomacy
This game is a warning to those wicked multi-accounters. The mods ought to form a tribunal to conduct decade long trials of these obviously guilty people.

Retreat question
Hi.
Can Turkey retreat to the Ionian, or is it "embattled"?

Not planning to do it or complaining as they haven't started. Just wondering if it is considered acceptable within the leagues?

Do CD players count as "surviving" for draws?
Will a draw split points between all remaining powers, including CD players, or just the ones who are still active?

WTA Question
I'm in my first WTA game and wanted to pose a question. I would think the nature of the game, since only one can win, would have alliances switching as one country gains a decided advantage. Is that the case? The only alternative would be if two allies had clearly come to a commitment to draw (or I suppose race to the 18). What are some veterans' experiences? Thanks.

Can you force your own unit out??
If you command a unit to move and you command another unit to move into its place supported by another unit. What happens if the first unit is unable to move?

I.e does the unit trying to come in dislodge your own unit that couldn't move, as the unit coming in has support? Or does nothing move??

Suggestion for Kestas
On the profile page - where you have the stat percentages... would it be possible to take the "playing" out of the total number of games? or at least make the percentages apply for "Finished Games" rather than ALL. why? b/c it gives a better representation of how a player has performed!

Does anyone else wonder if Sen. Arlen Specter plays diplomacy?
jbalcorn (429 D)

It's just me, but I find it really hard to take anything seriously from 'pootercannon'. *GRIN*

And I have to say, I've never thought about it. But I'm willing to bet that Rockefeller plays Monopoly :-)

pooter - what would even make you think that he does?

I know that JFK and Kissinger both played in College though

Pootercannon, if he plays Diplomacy, he must be horrible.

Ahh. Now I see what pootercannon was getting at. Spectre just stabbed the Republicans!

Spector is a professional diplomacy player - he works in the Senate. Yeah, it was a preemptive stab, though. He saw the stab coming.

yeah - I just figured it out a little while a go myself... what a HUGE story
Babak (26982 D(B))

i agree with Clark...

the Pat Toomey primary would have finished him off
Wasn't much of a stab.... we wasn't in much agreement with his allies anyway.
Invictus (240 D)

He's playing as Italy in this game, though. I doubt he can actually pull off a win.

Arlen "Magic Bullet" Spectre?

Anyone who can sell millions of people the magic bullet theory with a straight face can safely be assumed to be a superior diplomacy player.

:)
I don't think he's looking for a win. He's looking for a survive.
jbalcorn (429 D)

He'd been told in public press that no money would be given to him for re-election. Obama promised him DSCC money and personal campaigning. Add to that some chairmanships, and I don't know why this wasn't more expected.

yes, a good pre emptve stab, he knew that the upper echelon of the republican party didnt like him and the lower grass roots crazies and teabaggers wouldnt support him come the election, it was either run as an independent or jump ship.

I just looked and Specter's 79. Why hasn't this guy retired yet? Why would he want to even run again? Since when are US Senators satraps for life?
Babak (26982 D(B))

he is actually young for a senator ;P

Byrd is 91, Inyoue is 85... Stevens was also high 80s...

It's a good move by him. As I understand it (as Brit on the other side of the Channel), with him swapping sides, this takes the Democrats to 59 seats in the Senate. I believe there is one state still to be decided due to a court case, which could take the Democrats to 60, allowing them to force through legislation.

Anyone have any more on this? I did a google, and couldn't find the information.
sean (3490 D(B))

CG, dailykos.com, huffingtonpost.com politico.com all have loads of info about the republican Coleman's battle to keep franken from being the senator from Minnesota. its pointless and he will lose to franklin but coleman wants to drag it out as long as his finaces and the court will let him.

http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/

60 seats in the senate can stop a filibuster from the other side but as most pieces of legislation have a few moderate rep or "blue dog" conservative democrats swing either way its not a that big of a deal.

I am suggesting that we move the sc in Smyrna to Jerusalem. Not only would this be cool, but it would spread out all the centers in Turkey.
