Could someone unpause this game, please?
The game is here: http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=9891

France is about to die as soon as the game unpaused. Our France was kicked out for some issue, and the new France hasn't unpaused and hasn't shown up again yet.

Obamas' new dog
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/12/obama-daughters-to-get-portuguese-water-dog-named-bo/

It's a Black Portuguese Water-dog named "Bo". It's planned to arrive at the White House by Tuesday I believe. What do you guys think? (I was personally rooting for a German Shepard)

My new opinion of WTA
In principle, it's a better system than PPSC because it encourages winning at all costs. I, however, have noticed some of its shortfallings, and they mainly have to do with the question of how minor powers ought to play. If you have no chance of actually winning the thing, why play rationally? It's so much more fun to go completely berserk in hopes of messing up the ultimate outcome.

Best ever Diplomatic coup.
What is the best diplomatic coup you have ever engineered during a game? Not tactics, I'm talking about the cut and thrust of the chat sections. I want to hear about your genius.

Private games are not listed in "Active" list. Why not?
Games started as private don't appear to get listed in the Active games list. Why would that be? I can understand why they wouldn't get listed in Joinable, but why exclude them from the Active list?

(Eng) A Bre -> Gas
(Eng) A Par s A Bre -> Gas
(Fra) A Gas -> Par
(Fra) A Bur s A Gas -> Par

Does A Bre take Gas and A Gas take Par? Or does A Gas get dislodged b/c it can't cut support on an attack on itself?

What about...

(Eng) A Par -> Gas

Going back to the original:
(Eng) A Bre -> Gas
(Eng) A Par s A Bre -> Gas
(Fra) A Gas -> Par
(Fra) A Bur s A Gas -> Par

In this scenario both moves succeed and Paris will have to retreat.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
15 Apr 09 UTC
For the first scenario, the key is that while Gascony doesn't cut Paris's support of Brest into Gascony just by hitting it, nothing is stopping Gascony from fully moving into Paris since Burgundy is supporting it and isn't cut. So Gascony makes it into Paris.

Then the fact that Brest is unopposed going into Gascony is secondary. If France had a unit in Spain going into Gascony that would bounce with Brest. Gascony hitting Paris didn't break Paris's support of that move, but Paris being dislodged did. So Brest has no support into Gascony and in your scenario is just walking in unopposed.
Too funny... I read the title of this thread as a misspelling of 'education' a bunch of times before i realized it was a misspelling of the word 'adjudication'.

fun quiz: there is one set of unresolvable orders by traditional rules, do you know what it is?
Babak (26982 D(B))

is the famous convoy conundrum? (I had to look it up)

France:
F Mao sm Spa(sc) to WMS
F Spa(sc) to WMS

Italy:
F Tus sh TyS
F TyS c Rom to Tun
A Rom to Tun

Turkey:
F WMS c NAf to Tus
F GoL c NAf to Tus
A NAf to Tus
F Tun sh WMS
F Nap s Ion to TyS
F Ion to TyS

Another more simple conundrum (in some circles) that exists is this:

France:
A Bel to Hol
F Hol s Ech to Nth
F Ech to Nth

England:
F Nth c Bel to Hol

yup - believe it or not - that Bel to Hol move fails!!! its one of the most dastardly (and least used) techniques in the game.
Babak (26982 D(B))
16 Apr 09 UTC
I made a mess of that 2nd example (not very clear)...

its supposed to be more like this:

France:
A Bel to Hol

Germany:
F Hol s Den to Nth
F Den to Nth

England:
F Nth c Bel to Hol

basically - the question is does Bel-Hol utilize the convoy in which case it does not succeed, thus the Hol support is not cut and Den moves to Nth dislodging the E fleet. OR is Bel-Hol a straight up move which cuts the support of the fleet in Hol thus making the Den to Nth move bounce... phpdiplomacy takes care of THIS conundrum by forcing you to state by land/by convoy for every single coastal army move... (so those of you who are confused by this or annoyed by it now know why its there)

it is a VERY rare occurance... and can not be used to your advantage on phpdip - but in regular ftf games it does happen from time to time and produces a paradox.

but that first example is still a paradox (though I think the consensus on it is all units bounce even though that does not follow either of the two veins of logic)

I believe you are incorrect in the resultBabak. i am searching through my history to find when that scenario happened to me . I believe france's move to holland succeeds.

If you say "via convoy", it will go by land if there is no available convoy on phpdip.

Probably a simple one, but I don't have a rule book handy:

Can fleets convoy armies across the weird land/sea territories? E.g., could F Denmark convoy A Kiel to Sweden?
