Not a button anymore...

I tried to finalize in thsi game, but it woudln't act like a button, it wasn't clickable, and I wasn't able to finalize my orders. I was able to finalize my disband orders though.... ugh....

Retirement Announcement

I'm retiring from phpDiplomacy after my last game is completed. I may occasionally visit the Forum, but I won't participate in any more games. There's more to life than this silly game anyway. My only regret is that I even got started in the first place.

Need Draw

The game "Muntadar Al-Zeidi Tribute" was paused for a while. When it was time to unpause, one player (Coolbreeze42) was no where to be found. We have also tried to draw, but again, we can't with out Coolbreeze. Can a monitor please draw the game for us? Thank you.

Nato Meeting Crazyness

I live just to the north of Baden-Baden where the current NATO meeting is taking place and would like to point out some extreme "security" being implemented:

- red zone in some the town center: no one allowed here, absolutely no one, if you live here tough luck.
- yellow zone in a large part of town: the streets have to be keep clear at certain times, if you live here then you can stay in your house but please stay away from the windows unless you want the police to drop by.
- green zone, a large area surrounding the town: roads closed at certain times and even if walk your dog here expect a police officer to follow you about. Warrantless car searches appear to be allowed here.
- large no fly zone including kites and model planes even in places 30+ km away.
- several large sporting venues have been closed for the past weeks and now house thousands of police officers from all over Germany
- a historic coble stone street that the heads of state will be walking down has been completely dug up, all the trees cut down and rebuilt in manner making it look old again. (also all the bin were removed)
- the right of assembly has pretty much been suspended

Does anyone know why they have to meet here? Can't they get together on an aircraft carrier or a cruise ship? That would be much cheaper and safer.

What you expect a head of state to sleep in the small officers quarters of a carrier, or a small cabin in a cruise ship, instead of a nice large suite at a hotel? And you have to decide which country's war ship, a big national ego thing. Than you have the PR issue of having to hold a meeting at such location.

I must such to live in that area, but what can you expect when so many world leaders are gathered in one place?

I agree it seems totally absurd all the things they're doing, but can you imagine what would happen if there was a successful terrorist attack at a NATO meeting, killing even just one head of state or government?

I can sort of understand some of the security concerns but a lot time it looks more like their trying to counter Hollywood movie villains than real threats.
Mostly though I just felt like venting...

I completely understand where you're coming from. I get mad when they have parades in my town, I couldn't imagine dealing with all the stuff they've got over there for this conference.

Well, the largest and most easily threat they would face would be a sniper, which they are taking the correct measures to counter.

The NATO is a very powerful force, indeed. They can't even prevent couple of hotels from being burned down in the middle of Strasbourg... Btw, I'm from Croatia. It's an honor to be in NATO, finally.

Statistics

Since joining the site, I have joined 8 games. At the start of those games I have been assigned to the following countries:
Russia- 1/8 times. Turkey- 3/8 times. France- 4/8 times.
Is there some sort of "France or Turkey" setting I have activated, or is this just a statistical anomaly?

Unpause: Eliminated players

Eliminated players really shouldn't have a say in pause/unpause. Germany has been eliminated and will not vote to unpause. Can I get some divine intervention here?

Moving out of neutral SC; becomes neutral again?

Something surprising happened in one of my games.
I had an army in Bulgaria. I moved the army to Serbia, and Bulgaria reverted to neutral control.
I thought Bulgaria would remain in my control.
Can some one explain? -scott
