Quick question

Suppose you just captured a center in autumn.
If you move out of that center in winter but happen to bounce back to it, would you get a build next turn?

New sort of team game?

This will be a team game where no-one except your partner (and the arbiter) knows who you're teamed with.

Seven players join a game. When the game starts Italy will draw lots to pair up the remaining 6 players into 3 pairs. Italy will be alone.
Italy will tell each player who he is paired with, but no other information. The idea is that no-one knows who's paired with who.

To make sure that no-one really knows who's paired together there will be a few restrictions:

1. You may not confirm or deny that you are teamed with any player. You are however allowed to speculate on the other players' teaming. You can lie about your partner's pairing, but your own pairing is strictly taboo.
2. Italy has the advantage of knowing the pairing, but he is not allowed to disclose it. He is however allowed to refer to pairs as a whole, so long as it is only to the members of the concerned pair.
3.No discussions of pairing are to be posted on Global Chat.

It is not preferable to disclose your allegiance here. This'll be a fun variant, I think. Metagaming made legal?

If I get enough applicants I'll open a game.

Although I'm not sure how many games the tournament will contribute, unless it is extremely large I'd like to give this one a try. Having said that, I think you should be able to talk about your own pairing, because otherwise it will be obvious who you're with as it'll be the only person you *don't* talk about

You can talk about who your partner is paired with so long as you don't say he's partnered with you.
The point of not letting players disclose their pairing is because it would turn it into any other team game in a year or two. The special part of the variant is that you don't know how the others are paired. Obviously you should try to hide your allegiance...

Fair enough, although I think you should be allowed to say they're with you - something you could say about anyone else as well if you wanted. Basically, my point is you should be allowed to throw around accusations of any pairings. Still, I'd like to join in yes - I like team games!

Its an interesting idea, but as you will know who your partner is, there will only be so many potential combinations in the remaining four.

Italy draws lots.
That's not too fair for the others right if Italy gets to choose...
He could just make everything going good for him. Like Austria-Turkey, Russia-Germany, England-France.
He can then stand there and watch while picking off centres.

So nope, he has to draw lots.
But at least he knows who is with whom.

pausing games

dear mods,
i need all games paused. i am very busy and i have berely enough time to do my turns. so i need them paused for this weekend since i wont be there. im sure you can go to my player profile an go into all my games that arnt over and pause them, thankyou. this includes friday.

No one has supported my suggestion.

I thought by now there would have been a rush of Obama supporters backing my ideal. Perhaps I should have used the figures aoe3rules stated. That would hve been more appealing to them. Per there just hung over.

Unable to break a convoy

Hi, in my game "Game of Thrones," I attacked a French fleet in the English Channel while that fleet was attempting to convoy an army into England. However, my attack on the fleet did not break the convoy - shouldn't it have?

All registrants for GFDT 2008, PLEASE READ

My computer just took a dump and when it came back up, my database of registrants was completely gone. That means if you registered before today (Saturday, November 1st) before 2:54 PM CDT (19:54 UTC), I no longer have your registration information and you'll need to re-register. I've already made changes to the registration script to have it save a backup copy remotely, so this won't happen again.

I'm really sorry about the trouble this causes anyone.

Players from the diplomacy nations?

I'm interested in trying to play a game with people representing their own nations. I am English, and am hoping to find 6 others to join me in the game. How to arrange that we all get the right countries is a question, but if needed i'll open up signups on my server. Having said that, I don't know how long it will take me to find the required players.

Rules query about convoys

This is probably a very basic question for the experts on the boards. This is the scenario. A fleet in the North Sea is convoying an army from Yorkshire to Norway (which is unoccupied). The North Sea fleet is attacked by an enemy fleet from Holland, but is not dislodged from the North Sea. Will the army succesfully arrive in Norway?
