Would a chimpanzee wearing a suit be more effective at advancing the republican agenda?
Trump has failed to advance most of his agenda. At what point are the investigations such a distraction that it would be better for the republicans to put in a chimpanzee wearing a suit instead?

question about convoying
If I am convoying a unit, plus supporting the convoying fleet with one supporting fleet, can an enemy unit disrupt the convoy by attacking the convoying fleet, thus stopping the convoyed army from being convoyed?(this is a serious question).

A few years back some mods made a stock reply that they would use when a troll was attempting to waste their time. Does anyone have that saved? Asking for a friend.

Would drunk foodie feminist Jesus be more effective at advancing the republican agenda?
If there are 0 Jesus' and then you multiply by twelve Republicans how much freedom do you get? Probably not in the Bible but what if Jesus had many adopted children in secret gay love triangles with the apostles? Are Jesus secretly sane? Can you pour me a food? I am starving. I could really go fer a food yo.

Seeking advice on Tax law in the USA.
How do tax laws in the USA treat the "proceeds of gambling" ?
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))

Taxable, although you can deduct gambling losses against them.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

This is a theoretical question. How does the IRS in the USA treat the winnings of a gambler. The example to be considered is a gambler who wins betting on horse races, sports, and in Casinos in the USA. Does the IRS treat the "amatuer", occasional gambler differently to a person they would regard as a " professional gambler" ?
What if the gambler is a US citizen, and, much more importantly, what if they are a "foreign national" visiting the USA, for example on a six or twelve month "tourist visa"..so no green card etc. ?
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

Thanks Gen Lee. I'm assuming that applies to US citizens. It's the example of the tourist that most interests me.

If you make money, they'll tax it.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
12 May 17 UTC
Casinos will issue you a 1099 for the winnings, which will require you have a SSN or ITIN. Otherwise they will withhold tax on the monies before you even receive it. This way they can match up your income to the expected tax return they will receive. And if you don't intend to file they have the withholding tax already at what is likely a much higher rate than you would have to pay.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
12 May 17 UTC
Umm, what is a 1099? And what is a SSN & ITN ? Best to assume I know nothing about the US tax system.

This is not for "real use", so there is no responsibility on the part of those offering this advice. As with all financial advice, readers cannot assume that any advice offered in this thread is necessarily correct, and they should consult the properly qualified experts rather than rely on anything posted here.

Am I correct in assuming a licensed bookmaker in the USA would act similarly to a Casino in the USA ? Issuing this 1099 thingy ? And requiring a SSN or ITIN ?
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

@ Bo Sox..loved that simple post..I think that's the default position of most taxation authorities just about everywhere.

I heard there was a member here that can get you a SSN card and even some oil paintings.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))

Yes if they are legit MM they will have the same requirements.

LoL, or an oil painted SSN.

1099 is a record of the income and taxes withheld at federal, state, and local levels.

SSN (social security number) and TIN (taxpayer identification number) are identity numbers for tax records used when filling out tax forms to make them different for payers, businesses, or trusts.

Is it possible to host this game myself in a LAN network? I would like to play with my friends for points, but I understand that this would be unfair to the ranking on webDiplomacy. It would be nice if we could play the game offline.

Lies and Forgiveness
What is the limit you can tolerate in a diplomacy game regarding lies? How many times can someone lie to you before all trust is gone? Ive noticed superior players ask more questions and try to get people to talk more as-a way of sorting out who is "avoiding having to lie". A great many players avoid lying by simply not replying in time or not replying fully.

Why is talking points memo the only site that has even mentioned that Mitch McConnell is the one guy who can stop Trump's abuse? McConnell seems to get a free pass from the media, both the left and the right.
