You would think after throwing the election to Trump, Comey would have lasted longer. So much for rewarding the people that got him elected.

Trump got recommendations from all over the place to fire Comey. Everyone and their mother wanted Comey fired in November. I thought yall would be happy.

@bb, the stated reason is his conduct during the campaign but the real reason, if different, is not yet public. Speculation: to slow down FBI investigation and make it more of a circus.

He got fired because the heads of departments here, there, and everywhere recommended he be fired. Do you think Trump has that much influence over all those people to orchestrate that? Comey was a shit director; he deserved it.

the main qualification for any job in the Trump administration is being wholly unqualified, which probably makes Barron the most qualified member of the family for any position, frankly. And that is a VERY high bar, given you qualified the rest of them are.

The only other time an FBI director has been fired, the replacement had been announced and officially nominated by the end of the next day. Why are we waiting so long and having to speculate about the replacement for Comey? Shouldn't Trump have figured this out after initially thinking to fire him? Firing the director of a major law enforcement agency is bold and decisive, but it's not comforting to be having to wait this long for what should have been an accompanying decision.

Merrick Garland is appointed Director of FBI.

Merrick Garland is replaced by a more conservative judge on the Circuit Court.

Merrick Garland is fired as Director of FBI.

Trump then appoints whoever he wants as Director of FBI, while removing a liberal circuit court judge and selecting a new, more conservative one.
