Hey all,

I know you probably don't give a crap. I don't expect you to really. I just want to vent about how inadequate the mods are. Me and a group of four friends live in the same house. We played the actual board a lot and we loved the game. We found out a number of us were going to be moving very soon, but we still wanted a way to do fun things together. We found this site.

Urgent news from Devil-elopers
See Inside: The webDip Dev-e team has taken great pleasure in anouncing a possibly new feature for the site. Soon players may be able to list their relationship status and commit to in-game marriage. We here at webDipDev-e take great pride in our work and are excited to see how the community enjoys the new developments. - questions should be directed to myself, the webDip Dev-e chairman Mao, in my PM.

World Hypocrisy about Arab Deaths
The world isn't condemning the Saudi Arabia led attacks into Yemen at the same level as when Israel defended itself against Hamas. Going after the enemy, they have hit hospitals, schools, a refugee camp and neighborhoods, according to U.N. officials. This is without being threaten, but just to prevent Iran from going in power.

So it's okay for Arabs to kill Arabs without regard to civilian casualties, but if Christians or Jews do it ...

The difference is that the Houthis just took over the country and overthrew the government, while the half-starved and essentially defenseless Palestinians of Gaza are just Israel's hapless punching bag at this point.
y2kjbk (4846 D(G))

I think the world at this point also naturally holds non-Arab leaders to a higher standard than their Arab counterparts, for a number of reasons with some more legitimate than others.
apathetec (513 D)

tolstoy, you do realize that those hapless punching bags in Gaza take concrete donated for building schools and use it to build tunnels into israel in addition to continuing to fire rockets into israel even during "peace" time; Oh, and as for the tragedy of civilian casualties (and i do mean tragedy sincerely), those casualties would be drastically reduced if Hamas didn't store weapons in and around schools and hospitals.
I don't mean to say israel is faultless in their attacks (or their continued settlement building in the west bank despite still being allegedly in favor of a two state solution), but Israel isn't some completely hideous, evil, irrational monster either
Randomizer (722 D)

Except Iran and its puppet proxies that support Houthis, you don't see the moral outrage and coverage over whether Saudi Arabia is going after legitimate targets. Israel had to justify each civilian target to show that Hamas was storing weapons there and try to minimize casualties by giving advanced warning about most targets. Saudi Arabia just bombs away to prevent it religious counterpart from gaining control.

Does UNESCO admit to every claim of Israel's Habarra Brigades, or just to some.

dont kill other people *FIXED*
Its funny, when we discussed this this summer everyone assured why Israel was held to such a standard was because it committed actions with US support while others apparently didn't... well...

This thread is another reason you may not hear the condemnation. Well, the way the thread has gone, more like. The dialogue has shifted from talking about what Saudi is doing to what Israel has done. Honestly, this thread is the first I have heard about the intervention strikes. And the amount of media coverage total is lacking. If this thread were more directly about Israel, or anything else a large number of people here have actually heard about for that matter, this thread would blow up (no pun intended). A massive fight would ensue. If more people had heard about this, if enough people here had learned enough about what's going on in Yemen, they'd be more ready to discuss. There is condemnation out there. When sources mention Yemen, they mention it as a desperate situation. While Israelis were killed by Hamas, and while Palestinians were killed by the Israeli government in that ordeal, Yemenis are being killed by literally every side of the conflict. Kefaya war! I couldn't read your article, so here are a couple of my own:

@ goldfinger

"So, you're complaining that Israel is being held to higher standards than dictatorships, despots, terrorists and third world countries?"

Personally (I realize that your statement was in response to someone else; forgive me), my problem is that despots, terrorists, and third world countries are being held to a *lower* standard than Israel.

I miss the good old days when the laws of war actually meant something. What happened to distinctive uniforms visible from a distance? What happened to the standard of military necessity? What happened to *not* storing munitions inside schools and hospitals?

In my opinion, it's been way too long since someone has been convicted in The Hague.
People are being convicted at the Hague all the time, Gunfighter. They're just African warlords and Bosnians and others you might not know about.

What happened to distinctive uniforms and the laws of war? People realized that they would lose if they followed the rules, so they adapted. Europe has always been a bit silly when it came to war, and tried to keep it "civilized".

To make a Game of Thrones reference, after Bronn killed Ser Vardis Egan, there were shouts of "You fight with no honor." He replied "No. But he did."
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
15 Apr 15 UTC
The laws of war should be enforced worldwide. Everyone knows that war is inevitable. But we can reduce its evil-ness by making it at least a bit more civilized.

The rules should protect those who follow them. I.e. anyone captured acting as a belligerent without a distinctive uniform and with a reasonable opportunity to obtain one should be tried and executed.

"Laws of war" might be the most oxymoronic phrase I have ever heard.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

Oxymoronic does not necessarily equal nonsensical. I'd prefer to live in a world where civilians weren't used as human shields, POWs weren't tortured, and medics didn't get shot at.

"Israel defended itself against Hamas"... yeah kind of like how Chris Brown defended himself against Rihanna.

I have a related question here - am I a psychopath for being antiwar? I was watching a youtube video on psychopathy. Apparently the key characteristic of psychopaths is the lack of distinction between personal moral issues and impersonal ones. And I do not know anyone getting bombed - yet I seem to care that they are dying even still.
Marlen (20 DX)
16 Apr 15 UTC
Maybe I should reframe it... since the wording itself is slanting the issue. Israel is a country but Hamas is an organization. Israel defended itself against Palestine like how Chris Brown defended himself against Rihanna. Or maybe Likud (or the IDF) defended itself against Hamas...
