Question - I don't understand what I did wrong.
Modern Diplomacy II Map - I'm Spain, I have a fleet Seville, Sea of Gibraltar, and an army in Gibraltar. The UK has a fleet in Morocco and that's it. Our fleets bounced in the South Atlantic Sea, I attempted to convoy my army from Gibraltar to Algeria... but it failed.. So why did it fail if the other player didn't touch my unit in Gibraltar & the Sea of Gibraltar?

anyone up for a game of nomic?
from wikipedia: "nomic is a game in which changing the rules is a move. in that respect it differs from almost every other game. the primary activity of nomic is proposing changes in the rules, debating the wisdom of changing them in that way, voting on the changes, deciding what can and cannot be done afterwards, and doing it. even this core of the game, of course, can be changed."

I'm still working my way through some of the other threads where the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict is being discussed, but I want to start a thread wherein I hope to find some clarity on a question that's been bugging me BADLY: If you support Israel, why do you do so?

Looking for an html foto-slider widget that cycles through all pictures in a folder,
, rather than specific pictures.
Anyone knows something that would work? Free is best of course.

Lovely. Now find one that meets my demands.

'Standard' sliders link to pictures in a folder. I want a slider that links to the folder and cycles through the pictures in that folder.

Why would you expect this, abge?
There are people on this forum who expect people to do their homework for them, even cursory wikipedia-search formulaic homework and such.
Note: I have no idea what steephie22 is looking for nor how hard it is. Just making a general wise-ass comment. :)

I was just making clear to pangloss that if he would actually take a look at the question and the google search results, he'd find that it's not that easy.

I tried abge, I tried.. Just can't find/create one that works exactly the way I want it.

Well conveniently, I happen to know someone who does some webdesign work on a webdip forum, and I think their holiday project fell through so they have some time. Let me go ask them how much they would charge for a project like that.

The people in the last link don't know what they are doing and the thread is 5 years old.

First off, exposing entire folders or folder structures to the public is a security risk. But if you are okay with that and you know PHP or have Node.js or some other server side language, the approach would be:

1) Javascript sends name of folder to server (or a code indicating which folder)
2) Server side code reads the folder and assembles all image names into JSON
or some other format compatible with the JQuery carousel of your choosing
3) Carousel takes the return from the server and displays the images

I've noticed that ex-mods are full of angst and sass. :)

Was that always true or did being a mod bring about that change? If it's the latter, then we should really add that as part of our spiel for new mods.

I did find both of those links but I didn't get either way to work, probably because of my unfamiliarity with the methods used. Right now I don't know wether I still need it though. If I end up needing it, it should probably be mostly ready to go already and not get much harder than linking to the right folder and possibly naming the images in a specific pattern.

@Mapu:

Yeah, forgot to mention: my coding knowledge is mostly limited to HTML and CSS, hence I would need it sort of ready-served if I want to be able to use it.

The rather entertaining part of this, is I've done this before, but it was for a paid project which I'm not allowed to give the code for. JQuery is your answer though. Good luck.

Little colored bars?
When clicking another country's tab in the game interface, what is the significance of the stacked, colored bar above the messaging interface? The colors seem to be the colors of the various countries, but I can't figure out what they represent.
