Question - I don't understand what I did wrong.
Modern Diplomacy II Map - I'm Spain, I have a fleet Seville, Sea of Gibraltar, and an army in Gibraltar. The UK has a fleet in Morocco and that's it. Our fleets bounced in the South Atlantic Sea, I attempted to convoy my army from Gibraltar to Algeria... but it failed.. So why did it fail if the other player didn't touch my unit in Gibraltar & the Sea of Gibraltar?

anyone up for a game of nomic?
from wikipedia: "nomic is a game in which changing the rules is a move. in that respect it differs from almost every other game. the primary activity of nomic is proposing changes in the rules, debating the wisdom of changing them in that way, voting on the changes, deciding what can and cannot be done afterwards, and doing it. even this core of the game, of course, can be changed."

Question
Can you support an enemy unit into your own unit to force it to move(blow up)?
North Sea supports Sweden into Norway
North Sea and Norway are Italian and Sweden is Turkey.
(those are examples, as you can see I use things not prob going to happen
No. It is impossible to self-dislodge.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

No.

1 more question. Thx Abgemacht.
If Turkey is in mars, Army, and attacks Gas.
Austria is in Paris and attacks Brest.
If France is in Gas and Brest. Can France get Paris back?

I'm Austria but in another set of the map. (if I recall its a push)
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
Yes, assuming France has two armies. France could order Brest support Gas->Paris.

Paris to Brest won't break the support, because you can't break support of an attack on your territory.

What Tin says is correct.

And, btw, your first question is more clearly answered by:

TEST CASE, SUPPORTING A FOREIGN UNIT TO DISLODGE OWN UNIT PROHIBITED
yebellz (729 D(G))
07 Aug 14 UTC
The funny thing is that supporting an enemy unit to dislodge your own unit will fail, but you can successfully support an enemy unit to cause a beleaguered garrison to prevent your unit from being dislodged.

If I had a unit in Burgandy.to move to paris, I cant support hold with Burgandy. Yes all armies I'm talking about.

Can you clarify that question please.

Country 1

Country 2

Brest Army F
Gas Army F
Mars Army T
Paris Army A
Burg Army A
Rurh Army G
If Gas is supported into Paris. paris attacks Brest and gas moves into paris. France gets Paris? (ruhr will attack burg)
Vikesrussel (839 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
I still think France wins.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
So, you have:

France:
A Brest s Gas->Brest
A Gas->Brest

Turkey:
A Mars->Gas

Germany:
A Rurh -> Bur

Austria:
A Paris (possibly ->Brest)
A Bur (possibly -> Paris)

And you want to know if there's a set of orders that protects Paris from France? I don't see one - you can't cut the support from Brest, and any support that Bur offers is going to be cut by Germany. Make friends with the German, maybe? :)
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
Sorry- I wrote France out incorrectly:

France:
A Brest s Gas->PARIS
A Gas->PARIS
Vikesrussel (839 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
Yep. What I thought. But Can I do this. Paris to Gas with Mars support? That should cancel it out right?
Vikesrussel (839 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
That should be a push since each move is moving towards each other.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
Yes, if you know that's what France is ordering, that will defend Paris (a bounce between Gas and Paris).

But then you're in a guessing game - France could order Brest->Paris with Gas support, and he'd still get Paris.
Vikesrussel (839 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
If Spain was Turkey and moves to Gas. It be a push for him. True it is a total guess, but isn't this game all guesses?
Vikesrussel (839 D)

I kinda thought of all what I said. I just wanted to confirm it on the rules to clarify. Thanks Tin.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Is Turkey Austria's ally? If so:

BUR-PAR
PAR-GAS
MAR s PAR-GAS.

This should save Paris.

Attacking a unit removes any support that unit is giving, even if the unit isn't dislodged.

you answered my question. I think the best answer is to let France retake paris, because france is getting a -1 build instead of -2.

Well, yeah, if MAR support is going to be cut then you can't guarantee to save PAR.

Little colored bars?
When clicking another country's tab in the game interface, what is the significance of the stacked, colored bar above the messaging interface? The colors seem to be the colors of the various countries, but I can't figure out what they represent.
