People should stop posting that certain games are paused.Shut your mouths. I believe they are all breaking the rules of the tournament and maybe the site by signaling that they are in those games they have ranted about being paused.
If there not in the games then stop being a nosy parker and butt out.

Who made you forum boss, maple? CDsa and NMRs are part of *regular* games here, but the tournament rules specifically stated that they would not be tolerated, so we abide by *those* rules or we don't play (hint hint, go the fuck away).

And I agree with podium. I have avoided asking about them when I see one of my games paused because it would give away what game(s) I am in.

Pausing never was the problem. The problem was or is with the fact that it was done differently from game to game. In hindsight it all could have been avoided but so could have been the war we are reenacting. Let's wait and see what happens.

I still don't get how it was done differently from game to game. Just because not all games were paused doesn't mean shit. A given offender is only in 7 of the 40+ games. If they apply the rule properly then all his games get paused according to the rule. I have seen no evidence that is wasn't applied properly.

They are human and do as well as they can. Plus, I believe the rule is 2 NMRs and you are out. So allowing one NMR is completely acceptable within the rules. As far as pausing before or after the second NMR, maybe the early pause is to see if the person will be returning (trying to catch it before it becomes a problem) and the later pause is just that they missed that one. 40+ games to watch is a lot.

Sure is. As I said, let's wait and see. We should have set up the games with the wait for orders option. That could have saved a lot of time and trouble in making sure no game proceeds unduly. But did I think of that when I set up the games I was to prepare? Of course not. Maybe something to keep in mind for next time.

Lando, y2k, the mods, and kestas have gone out of their way to organize a complicated tournament, set up balanced games with 44 players, and provide a site sponsored (!) prize pot. In return, we simply request that players not miss phases, which some players have taken to mean that they can abuse the rules of the tournament at their leisure. The object of this tournament, above all, is fairness, and the last thing we want is to cause a solo because of an NMR or CD that keeps an otherwise deserving player out of the second or final round. Obviously, the TDs/mods aren't online 24 hours a day to constantly monitor and baby you and your games, so occasional NMRs slip through.

Like I said, if you no longer wish to participate in a well run and fair tournament, kindly get the fuck out.

@Party - the mods could change it in all the games if they thought it would help. It may not be a regular feature any more but mod powers still allow them to turn it on.

Wait for Orders had to be turned off in the Masters games because of so much regular and systematic abuse by many [supposedly top] players.

In this tournament, I think the goal is for the TDs/mods to have as much control over the games as possible. With WFO, there is always potential for abuse, but there is potential for additional NMRs as well if a few strategic instances of poor timing enter into the equation.

We explicitly decided that wait-for-orders would be a way bigger nightmare in the first round that having to deal with the occasional NMR. It's unfortunate that more NMRs are occurring than we had hoped, but we're working to resolve all of them. Everyone just chill out a bit, please....

Ah, so like someone takes a few extra hours then submits the orders before the mods see it... Maybe we need to add in an email option to email webdipmod and/or the TDs with details when someone NMRs on the WFO option...

Mapleleaf, in signing up for tournament you agreed to keep complaints to the mod email or in pm's to the TD's. So I didn't even bother reading this and you've been silenced for 24 hours. If you post on the forum again about the tournament you will silenced until every game in the first round is completed.

Now that said, I'm more then willing to discuss any problems you have with the tournament via pm or email. The same goes with any other mod or the TD's.
