Anyone working on cutting edge science, that is not top secret?
Pretty much what it says on the tin.

The webdip forumites tend to be more educated, or just smarter, than your average person, but are there also scientists around here?

Our basement is hard to get into (actually, could that explain it? Maybe only the basement is grounded?) but presumably the house is grounded, or is designed to be grounded.
The house is built in the 60's I believe, although that's perhaps more of a lucky guess. Let's say between 30's and 60's.

Although then I still don't see how that could have affected the baby steephie2.

No, as you may have noticed, whether or not a human can easily access something is not a good indicator of if electricy can flow.

I agree, this has nothing to do with you crying.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
12 Mar 14 UTC
If the basement is grounded, then the whole house is grounded, unless the basement and the rest of the house have a completely separate electrical system, for some reason.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
12 Mar 14 UTC
The only extremely unlikely scenario I can think of that could possibly influence steephie2, which is possibly not possible, is if the electricity caused a chemical reaction (reaction might not be the right word but that's because I learned chemistry in Dutch, not in English, so I don't know the right wording. I'm thinking of the process of electrolysis or something similar.) under the house, with one of the products being unstable causing radiation...

At that point the con artist-theory seems more likely though :)
steephie22 (182 D(S))
12 Mar 14 UTC
The only extremely unlikely scenario involving electricity, that is.

steephie...just no.
steephie22 (182 D(S))

That's what I thought :)

So we ruled out electricity, is radiation completely ruled out?
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
12 Mar 14 UTC
Since "Earth Radiation" does not exist, then pretty much. Yes.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
12 Mar 14 UTC
Background radiation is existent though. Perhaps it's possible to influence background radiation? Can't think of a way that would work, but I'm brain storming.
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Mar 14 UTC
The human body has evolved to handle radiation at the levels found in nature and not be affected by it. So unless your dad had a leaky microwave near your nursery, not likely.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)

"I'm brain storming"

Be careful. Your brain is obviously delicate. Are you wearing a protective bracelet?
steephie22 (182 D(S))
12 Mar 14 UTC
Hmm...

My idea's are starting to get ridiculous, but that's part of the process of ruling everything out:

Contaminated water vein, blocked by metal thing when it was placed?

To be clear to everyone: I'm not obsessed, but this has sparked my interest, and the process of thinking alone sort of interests me already. Don't think I can't live without knowing the truth though :)

Anything other than a 'second-grade placebo-effect' or chance?

Perhaps my head was just a bit too small and it catched up with my brains. (That sounds less cocky and unbelievable than saying my brains were too big :P)
Jamiet99uk (873 D)

How could your brain be affected by contaminated ground water, unless you were drinking it?

I don't know how the contaminated ground water could affect my brain right now :)

"My idea's are starting to get ridiculous, but that's part of the process of ruling everything out:"

You cannot every rule anything out. There are an infinite number of possibilities, for example:

The headaches were caused by radiation poisoning. The radiation was introduced by a disturbed man who was stalking your house while carrying radioactive material. This man had been sneaking around your house for long enough that there was enough lingering radiation that the man on the phone could hear it. Now this man who your parents talked too was familiar with law enforcement and was aware of this disturbed stalker. So he came to your house and installed a radio emitter in the ground that broadcast waves that interfered with the stalker's pacemaker. When the stalker came around again his pacemaker stopped working and he dropped dead. The snake oil salesman took his body and dumped it somewhere far away so the radiation wouldn't bother little steephie anymore and your headaches went away.

Is this unlikely...yes, can you prove it wasn't the case, no, because you cannot "prove" anything in science.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
12 Mar 14 UTC
It's still that process although you can't really complete it I suppose. While your story is possible, I still rule it out, and I justify it because it's very unlikely.

I rule out unlikely things, not impossible things.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

@steephie

Most "background radiation" is EM radiation. The only difference is the frequency and amplitude.
krellin (80 DX)

IF radiation from your cell phones is going to corrode your brain, then so be it. Let Darwin's principles take their course, and rid the world of the ridiculous youth that are too infatuated with the constant need of attention to ever put their electronics down through the horrible and painful death by brain tumor.

Wait..... no-one could know all this in such detail..... unless....... JMO IS THE SNAKE-OIL SALESMAN

NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE

Anyway, I have a testweek coming up and after that I'll focus on figuring this out, because my parents simply believe it must be earth radiation now, even if it isn't.

I'm interested in biology, chemistry, math and physics, so to me it can only be interesting I'd say :)

RIP Bob Crow
There are not many people who achieve as big an impact on the lives and minds of the British people as Bob Crow. I did not often agree with him, indeed I can't remember ever agreeing with him, but he was without doubt a man of principle who fought tirelessly for his beliefs and earned no small amount of respect. Rest in peace.

Need two players for a solid full-press game.
We're looking for two reliable players—either with no CDs or with very few CDs that can be explained away—to fill out gameID=137177. We’ve played several games together with largely the same group (a few rotate in and out each game), and they've all been good games with lots of press. They're pretty balanced as well--no solos yet.
