Need to think of a gift for me.
So I was thinking Call of Duty: Ghosts or Battlefield 4, but as it turns out I can't run either, though by a close margin.

Anyone a nice idea?

Doesn't have to be a pc game.

A domain: steephie.net? You could get it with a hosting service on godaddy and really learn web application development.

f1 2013
steephie22 (182 D(S))

@kalbim: I actually thought of that a bit earlier too, but my CPU doesn't cut it apparently... I suppose I need an upgrade for the new games lately, although I can run Rome 2...
Will have to think about that.

@Draugnar: I know what you mean, but I just see no(t enough) point in having a site for myself for now. I can learn web application development working on relatively long but useful projects. The only reason this was a potential problem with Maniac is because of the deadline of about one month combined with my busy life.

Basically, I'm too busy to do something with no use other than learning what I don't have to know yet. Maybe in the summer holiday or something, but until then, the fact is that I need to choose what to spend my time on, and a personal website would not get attention any time soon...

More to the point, I'm pretty sure my parents want something to physically give me, they can be stubborn when it comes to some traditions..

I do thank you for thinking with me here though.
I'm just explaining why I think it won't work as a gift for now.

@ForceIndia: google gives me formula 1 2013. Please clarify :)
ForceIndia98 (100 D)

The game is called "f1 2013" (the studio is Codemasters). If you're even remotely interested in the sport (or racing in general) then get it!
steephie22 (182 D(S))
30 Nov 13 UTC
I see. Well, f1 racing has always seemed rather boring to me to be honest, but I'll check it out on YouTube because of your recommendation. But now you mention it, maybe I could get one of the later Need For Speed's or some other racing pc game, that focuses mostly on an immersive, challenging etc. gameplay with cops and what not... Some tuning would be nice too.

Anyone wants to advice a game in the genre that would meet my criteria best?

I think I'm satisfied with not upgrading to what is apparently starting to become today's standard of CPU's yet btw. I don't really want any of the games badly after all. I just need to think of a gift because my parents insist on giving me a gift :)

Need for speed is nothing...f1 is hardcore (takes a lot of practice though) . Yeah look it up...beautiful game.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
30 Nov 13 UTC
I have to admit that it looks pretty cool. I suppose I'm more of realism guy after all, as long as the gameplay is priority.

@THM: My parents would want to wrap the wrap the present probably :)

And I don't think they would mind an announced romantic sleepover anyway. They know they have no power over that I suppose :)
I hear you can get quality oil pants at affordable prices.

Get track mania, its free lol. A gift...without spending money! Or dirt 3, epic game, or CoH 2( its on sale on steam) or CS:GO, also, a personal favorite, eurotruck driver 2. Europauniversalis 4 is also nice...
ILN (100 D)

But from what you wrote, if you are keen on getting a fps, counterstrike:GO is amazing.
ILN (100 D)

The fps natural selection also seems really nice, its a mix of fps and rts, with alot of team coordination (as opposed to calloffaggots where everyone runs in like morons)

@abgemacht: is Napoleonic Wars really good? I always thought it would ruin the game rather than improve it... I have Warband.

Hellenic Riot: I already have Crusader Kings 2. Europa Universalis IV or Victoria II? Which one is best?
steephie22 (182 D(S))
01 Dec 13 UTC
Turns out both Europa Universalis IV and Victoria II are hard to get in Europe, so if I want them I'll probably have to resort to the internet one way or another, either downloading it or doing my first not-cash-or-bank-card payment...

Won't take the risk of not having it by 5 December though, since that's what it's for...

You mean like the boxed version? Paradox games are easily accessible in Europe, PI is a Swedish company after all.

Do you like the Star Trek or Star Wars universes? Star Wars: The Old Republic is to release a space combat aspect to their game to paid subscribers in two days and Star Trek Online simply rocks.

01 Dec 13 UTC
ulytau, sorry, I meant locally, in a specific city in the Netherlands :)

I suppose I was accidently exaggerating quite a lot there. Anyway, my dad found some stuff so the crisis is over. Feel free to continue discussing though :)

And Draugnar: I was actually already playing STO on your recommendation, and it was enjoyable, but alone it became a bit boring after many hours clocked. Maybe it's more fun if I play more actively with other people though... Can you play the story-driven missions with friends?

Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Victoria II is a lot more complex and also a fair bit older than EUIV, but it's my favourite PI game. Particularly with the PDM mod.

I think PI are digital-distribution only now, but you can get steam codes on Amazon these days.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
01 Dec 13 UTC
Napoleonic Wars is a bit jankity, so it's hard to call it "good". But, it is incredibly fun, which is all that really matters in a game, IMHO.
kalbim (100 D)
01 Dec 13 UTC
I wouldn't recommend Fire and Sword though. The troop recruitment method is confusing and guns are WAY too overpowered.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
01 Dec 13 UTC
I already have With Fire and Sword, and it's indeed a bit disappointing.

abgemacht: what changed, other than the time and the weapons?
kalbim (100 D)

Napoleonic Wars is mp only, for starters. But pretty much nothing changes ecept the mp is (usually) ALOT better

NFL Pick 'em: Week 13--Are You Ready For Some (Thanksgiving) Football?
Ah, Thanksgiving football...the last refuge of a man looking to avoid a family argument on Thanksgiving day. Truly there's no more unifying sentiment than "Shut up, eat your food, and root for the Cowboys to lose!" Come Sunday, the Chiefs and Broncos will clash, and the Saints and Seahawks go at it on Monday Night. It's a good and important week of football, so--PICK 'EM!

While that's admittedly a double sin, posting something from The National Review and TBBT, I'd never thought about it that way...granted I've only seen the film a couple times, but still, huh--was Indy was mostly or completely pointless to the overall plot, or did the best worst archaeologist of all-time really come out awesome after all...at least until Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? ;)

From Draw to Solo - Part 1
Playing to draw is quite easy for most of us - but how to turn that into a solo? I've seen many people struggle with that question and I'm no exception. For this reason I thought it would be good to analyze some actual cases and get some advice from the more advanced players on the site: how to get the solo? My first case, inside, I hope others follow!

Favorite Cocktails
I love cognac and wine, but aside from those two "regular" favorites, I love to try out new cocktails...they're just so impeccably tasty AND have that wonderful effect of leaving you "happy" enough--not really a somber drinker, except for one time, but that was due to extenuating circumstances--to be sociable but not dead on your feat or a drunken mess. So, for taste and effect alike...favorite cocktails? :)

According to the Avalon Hill Diplomacy Rulebook, units cannot trade places without the use of a convoy. Is this also true in a situation where one of the territories is bicoastal? Can a fleet in Bulgaria (west coast) move to Constantinople while a fleet in Constantinople move to Bulgaria (south coast) or would this constitute a bounce?
