@gman314, Someone was having outside of game circumstances that would not let them really play much and we wanted the games to end representatively, not with one guy out because he couldn't play.

That's cool. I'm not sure when we'll have the next round. I guess that that doesn't really concern me though given that I will definitely not be in it.

Group B games 1 and 3 just ended, almost simultaneously. Acmac won game 1 and I won game 3. woot. I will write up EOGs. never tried that before.

Alright here we go:


Group B Game 1, Germany


The game began as Germany, and I have to say, I was kind of excited to play as Germany because I've had good success with it, couple draws and now one win. As being a middle country, I was entertaining all offers while trying to be friendly to all my neighbors. Immediately I wanted a natural alliance with Austria, as my fronts would be left wide open if I directed my forces south in the early/middle game. So I was at peace with all my neighbors, but my only real ally was Austria. England opened into the Channel and snagged Belgium, and quite frankly, I was annoyed by him (no offense Baelar). So I decided to side with France, so I made a deceiving move into France to show England I was on board (Ruhr-Burgundy) and then supported myself into Belgium, gaining that center and also Sweden.

England retreated to Ruhr, that little pest. Oh, I also started against Russia, as I gained Warsaw. By that time he was desperately tring to convince me out of attacking him. 1903 was a rough year it looked like. France wasn't totally happy with me, Russia started moving into my Sweden territory and England was going into Kiel. Argh.

I lost both Sweden and Munich that year, almost signifying my defeat. Then Austria retreated to Warsaw in Spring retreats next year, and it was justmierable then. I traded Berlin for Munich that spring, but then I retook it. Fortunately England disbanded in Norway, and I think that's what turned the game around for me. Russia was left with Norway, although he stayed in Sweden to block me from it (I was in the North Sea at this point). I had marched into Tyrolia, and damaged my relations with Austria. I then switched sides and moved back to Prussia and Silesia and next spring I moved back Bohemia and Silesia. Indecisive, I know. I also attained Sweden and then got Norway :D. And guess what! I moved back to Prussia and Silesia!!!! But then Austria started NMR'ing, as did France. This was the time we drew, but we continued to play the game. Back into Warsaw I went, and I received Paris, St Pete, and Brest in the those two years. Austria and I had neogotiated a fair split of Russia, and I encountered a stand-off for Marseilles with Italy. France CD'd by now, and I enjoyed nomnomnoming his centers very much. I started convoying to England to get his centers there and prepared myself for attack from Austria in Russia. Then he NMR'd and I took advantage by taking Moscow. I moved to Tyrolia to cut support from Piedmont so I could finally take Marseilles (Spring 1913) and took Vienna from a CD'd Austria in the fall, and there I won.

Ugly game, full of NMR's and CD's, but still, good game to you all who participated and played valiantly. A special thanks to gman314 because this would not be possible without him. When is the final round going to take place? Should I arrange the games?

Not anymore. Group C Game 3 just ended in a 4-way draw. Someone much more competent should tabulate the final standings, but I think I can safely say congratulations to FatherSnitch for winning Group C.

Great league, everyone. I had all kinds of fun.

Thanks tarspaceheel, and congrats to you for securing the runner-up spot! Bad luck to Dejan0707 for getting pipped at the post and also congrats to ODaly for breaking his duck in the final game!

I have re-calculated the tables using fractional points (rather than rounding up as before) because Groups A & B did that and it will determine who gets the "best third-placed player" slot in the final round:

As far as I can tell from the Group A and B tables, omgwhathappened progresses because he finished with 28.8 D and Onar finished with 27.3 (although gman314 posted that omgwhathappened didn’t make it – can someone clarify?).

I'm pretty sure that Onar beats omgwhathappened to be the top 3rd place player but now that I'm eliminated I will leave this thread until we start considering a new season.

Paying someone to stab
In a game I played (gameID=38537), after a lot of profanity, Russia offered everybody else on the global to stab me for money. Nobody has taken him seriously (I hope - although I was the last player to be eliminated by a 2-way draw), but this really bothers me. How would you react? What do you think about this act?

"This House Would Ban Music that Glorifies Violence"
I have to debate this motion on Thursday. I don't know until 15 minutes before hand which side I'll have to argue though.

Stabbed Woes
What is your best method to relieve stress when you log on, and find that your good friends have mercilessly stabbed you. My previous method involved drinking my woes away, kicking the dog, and beating my children, but they're starting to tell their friends. Should I just move onto my wife?

Is fighting terrorism with extra security good value for money?
In the last 10 years there has only been 1 major terrorist attack on North American soil. - death toll about 3-4 thousand. Is the money spent on stopping further attacks worth it?

How about Syracuse NY for NE gathering
Just looking for a good place for a meeting, what about Syracuse NY as it is fairly central to Ontario and NE US. It is on the junction of I-90 and I-81 and is fairly close for us Canadians.
