Racist or not racist?
White woman starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Not charged with a criminal offense. Apache Indian starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Charged, convicted, and sentenced to ten years in prison. Is this proof of the systemic racism of the American court system or not? Please cast your votes below.

Wildlife Preserve "Occupied"
Occupied by "armed Oregon militia." Not terrorists. Even though they're armed and provoking a standoff with the federal government and putting countless lives at risk.

Cat v. Dog
I think Cats are far more lovable. It has been proven cats increase positivity in their owners. They also purr and reduce blood pressure and stress. Plus you never hear some asshole say: "honey we gotta take the fucking cat for a walk, AGAIN"

Dogs smell, and they jump on people and slobber on you. Cats should win this thing.

US Election 2016: Trump v. Clinton v. Bloomberg.
It's looking more and more certain that this will be the presidential election line-up, with the BBC confirming that Michael Bloomberg will run as an independent if Trump/Clinton receive their respective party's nomination.

UN II - Constitution, resolutions and proposals.
The world has changed. The time of a lonely superpower is over. There are 17 powers in the world, and each of them has a vote in the security council in the new United Nations (UN).
The purpose of the game is role-playing game of diplomacy where the diplomacy between countries is in focus, not the actual war. You should choose a role to play (the neutral country opposed all wars, the super-power wanna-be, the federalist, the I'm-just-gonna-fuck-you-up-IS-role, or any other role).

Joinable games
I have been waiting months for this to make sense to me, but I still don't get it. When I click on Games, at the moment it says "Joinable (54)". When I click on the tab, I only see 1, and that game doesn't even have any joinable positions. What am I missing?

I think it's hard to be favored to get it, although solos might be easier in this format than average because people have limited time and probably will prioritize the games with their own chances of doing well.

But, we could do a rough calculation. Suppose that we get 7 of each power and are equally skilled with every power. In that case, a player with a 28.7% win rate would have a 50% chance of soloing once with every power.

In practice, players aren't equally skilled with every power. So, a good distribution (for me, that would be a bunch of Italy, as I tend to draw a lot of my games with a big Italy, but fewer Russia, as I get eliminated a fair amount in gunboat but win a good fraction of the games when I get really big) would make an enormous difference. The problem is that you're very limited by your weakest combination of frequency and power. So, for example, a player who solos 28.7% of the time probably is not much better than 35% with their best country, and if you only get that country twice, you're already a slight underdog to solo one of those two times.

And on the third hand, if soloing once as each power is an explicit goal, it might mean that a player spends more of their focus on the games as harder powers, which in this sort of format might be very helpful in the midgame?

Well you're right, if anybody can do it, you probably can. 27% solos is very impressive

A non sequitur, but having to join 50 games again by manually editing the URL got me to thinking -- wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to send an invite directly to the players that are in the tournament? I don't know if that is even programmable, but it would be handy to be able to find players by their name or user ID and just add them to the game. It would be a lot easier to just have a PM asking if you want to join a game, which would then take you to the game and you can confirm wanting to participate from there.

Thanks in advance, moderators. We all really appreciate the hard work you do keeping this site so incredible.

three, reddit/imgur highly frown upon submission scripts, if not would probably not outright slap me for it.

I hope that people do submit orders in all of these. I suppose we'll have to play through NMRs because with so many games, that's always a possibility, but it would be nice if everybody submitted orders.

Incidentally, I know we can't discuss ongoing games, but would it be fair for me to inquire whether we ended up with 50 different S01 maps, since that doesn't actually affect decision-making? If not, I'll ask questions like this at the end -- I wonder how many turns it will take before all 50 maps are different.

A couple metrics that would be nice if somebody felt like tallying and wouldn't break gunboat or anything: which power had the most centers after 1901, 1902, etc. Also interested in the different openings used.

While I'd love to dig into the deeper secrets it has to offer, I figured all statistics for better or worse will wait until the games are done.
genghiz (14138 D)
18 Aug 15 UTC
I have a running total going, thought it would be good to get some data with a reasonably large sample size, good players (myself excluded), and (hopefully) no NMRs. I'll post those at some point, I think from Valis's comment that he would prefer not to have those out there until the series is wrapped. As far as the openings go, that seems like a pretty daunting proposition, I'll leave that one alone.
LakersFan (899 D)

Bump, hoping we aren't going to run into the same problem of someone not entering orders.

The only way this will ever work is if you give no quarter.
Sherincall (338 D)

But, I'm in no position to exploit the NMR, and my enemy is. I demand a pause!
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))
20 Aug 15 UTC
I think the only way this works is if we just play through NMRs, yelling at whomever is responsible later on.
LakersFan (899 D)
23 Aug 15 UTC
Fair enough.
genghiz (14138 D)
23 Aug 15 UTC
Just curious, have we had any NMR's yet? I haven't noticed any so far, but I might have missed one or two, trying to keep track of 50 games and all.
Valis2501 (2850 D(G))
23 Aug 15 UTC
because webDip doesn't (publicly) log the difference between submitting all-holds and an NMR they can be difficult to track unless you yourself NMR'd
LakersFan (899 D)

Bump.
