I will make it short.
This was rather simple game on my side. Italy was very friendly and we immediately had trust relationship. Same was with England - good negotiations, a lot of press. Both of us agreed to DMZ the English Channel, both of us violated this DMZ, and this is when things with England really started to break down.
It began with a public announcement from England that we had a nice alliance for one turn. Then England outlined that I build in Brest, overrun him and Germany grows uncontrollably. Germany also thought there is something wrong with England.
England insisted I fight Italy & Germany, in a very rude communication that created a lot of antagonism and I decided that it's best to eliminate him.
In Spring 1902 I have misordered MAO to West Med instead of NAO and sent Spain to Gascony instead of Portugal, but it was a mistake I could take advantage of. I told England that I am fighting Italy, and it seemed like England believed. Meanwhile Germany was struggling with England and Russia and I realized that it would be best not to attack him, as he is giving some contra to this ER alliance.
In Autumn 1902 I moved back to MAO, and Italy attacked Germany.
I was worried that Italy is growing too fast - 3 builds, two fleets and an army. It was a real danger to my position. England continued to be lunatic. Luckily, Turkey have built a fleet and I think that Italy perceived him as a bigger threat and decided to move the fleets against Turkey and not against me. VERY favorable to me.
From there Italy and Russia continued to fight Germany, England continued to fight Russia, and I could safely eliminate England.
This is where I have started to speak about a 3-way with Italy and Russia. Things seemed really well, until Russian stab against Italy in Autumn 1905. My communications with Russia did not get a response ("you are forcing us into a 4-way draw instead of 3-way draw"), and I had no choice but to make sure that Italy and Turkey attack Russia together. Which they did.
Very quickly Russia turned back on its path and we continued with our 3-way plan.
I continued to fight Russia in the north, just to see if I can somehow turn it into a solo later on, in case Russia and Turkey start attacking Italy, but it didn't happen. I was too relaxed in the end, expecting Russia to make most of the gains from Turkey, but all the sudden Italy got to 14 SCs and also moved hard against Russia.
The last year was not a real game anyway, as I perceived it, and we were just waiting for Turkey to go out.
I agree that if abgemacht would go for a solo, he had a shot at it, but it was a very slim chance. Besides, the last 2-3 years were spent mostly in conversations about drawing after Turkey is out, so on a more personal level it was clear to me that Italy will click the draw button - which he did.
Very easy game. I did not experience tough negotiations, stabs and intrigues - except 1901. Ultimately, friendly Italy, busy Germany and England who made a lot of poor choices with even poorer diplomacy, made it a simple game for the Xmas period. Or should I say, Hannukah ;)
