I didn't wait an entire month for this game to start just to be mislynched on day 1
Oztra (30 DX)
31 May 17 UTC
well you should have played smarter...
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
I mean I'm not going to get lynched. It's just going to be a massive pain preventing it
Though I suppose your statement rings true either way
But I would like to comment that you're the last person who should be making such statements
"I mean I'm not going to get lynched. "

Why so sure?
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
I know my performance up to now has been less than stellar, but I'm not so bad to be mislynched this early
Cerrynity (122 D)
31 May 17 UTC
Wow! Turns out it's a bad plan to wait too long to read this game, but that season finale of my detective show was pretty great. I've learned several things from this very intelligent conversation. First, ghug is definitely mafia, and second, that snowy talks way too much.

##vote ghug
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
If he's town, he could just be very optimistic, hoping the fact we're only 5 hours in could be his saving grace. If he's scum, it means he could expect his scum team to come to the rescue. Perhaps one is already on the vote.
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
Cerry: What gives you that confidence on ghug?
Cerrynity (122 D)
31 May 17 UTC
@Prado - So far, there have been people who talk and people who react. Ghug's a reacter. Clearly, it's way too early to be "definite" as I said, but let's wait and watch him defend himself more?
Cerrynity (122 D)
31 May 17 UTC
@Prado - What do you think about ghug's reactivity?
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
Aye, I can see that. He's gone quiet for now, but I don't think that'll last long.
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
After all, I'm voting for him too. And I expect him to attack me for it, given his unadulterated hatred of me.
Balduran (119 D)
31 May 17 UTC
Man, and here I was thinking no group would be a cancerous and toxic as League of Legends...I'm going to wait a bit longer to make judgments (because I have a history of voting people who piss me off, even if they're not really scummy), but I really dislike Snowy's and Ghug's early games.

In the mean time, I want to head off anyone using my patented "lylo-self hammer+GM refuses to adjudicate to towntell" strategy by clarifying how the GM will handle self-hammers.
##CALL GM will we be allowed to self-hammer, or not?
snowy801 (591 D)

Alright, here's my preliminary analysis and explanations of the game thus far:

For all that there are 6 specialist roles in the game, this set up is about as vanilla as a 19 player set up gets. I don't feel that any extraordinary dispensations or biases should be applied in the analysis of this game based on its set up.

First, peterlund was scum in M28 with me, and applied a most similar logic in attempting to marshall a lynch on Balduran, who was town, expressing his distaste for what he perceives to be as mindless sheeping. I do not think it likely that he would employ the same logic as scum to start off the game, as it links him to previously known scum behavior. But naturally, he was said too little to be anything approaching confidence.

Regarding Jamiet, I very well remember how he exploded after DO made an arguably unprofessional phase change post death, resulting in his being banned from participating in M28, as well as his minor breakdown after he was voted off day 1 in survivor. It is my assessment that Jamiet is incapable of controlling his emotions, and thus believed that should I provoke him to a sufficient degree, he would inevitably let slip something he can't retract. I'm afraid my investigations have not borne anything especially juicy, but between what he has thus said and the way he followed Vash's vote on me that early with boldness and surety, I'm inclined to think town on this one.

It is evident to me that Oztra is town. Call it a gut feeling.

Now Vash is actually scum. Consider this: he voted me (and was the first) under the justification that "snowy is sucky," a line which he has used extensively in the previous discord game in which he was town and I was scum. And yet, if the content of my actions pinged him as being scummy, why does he make no effort to investigate the root of my behavior? I daresay none of us will actually believe that Vash is too busy or otherwise occupied to take the time to press a read he possesses. And yet he is lurking to an end which I do not believe coincides with anything but scum alignment.

Consider: in M27 he determined that he would pretend to be the cop and make bizarre and grand statements of deliberate lurking and, later, other things like "rolling a dice" to determine scum. Similar behavior was observed in M28. Yet where is he now? Anchoring and lurking. This is a departure from the mean of his usual actions. In the discord game, Vash claimed to be uninvested because he was abruptly requested to participate, and even then he gave more of an effort than this. It seems clear to me that this is an effort to fly under the radar, and I only draw one conclusion from such actions.

Regarding ghug:
I've only played one game in which he was scum, but I remember him being particularly suited for the role, and I find it perplexing that he would consider my statements on his skill level to be serious, especially given the praise I heaped on his play in the god qt.

Perhaps I've gotten carried away with the "let's call everyone shit" game, and I do apologize for that. Suffice it to say that if I truly believed all of you were garbage beyond any redemption, I would not deign to play with you all on this site.

My analysis of ghug's scum play is marked by a remarkably subtle buddying and pocketing of key town players. Having fallen for it once, I was very careful to observe his actions for repeat circumstances such that I may call him out on it - in a situation where he was town and I was scum, I could not find evidence of such behavior as to attempt to falsely implicate him.

The situation is much the same here. Far from buddying, he is running around actively antagonizing anyone he can get his hands on. Further, even though we fell for it hook, line and sinker DO and I had some early scum reads on ghug which he later dispelled through said above buddying. I feel no such equivalent in ghug's current play, and say (again) that I think he is town.

In retrospect, it is easy to see how my play ,ay be construed as being scummy.

I've created the most buzz, stir, and substance in this thread, ghug. I've always been in the conversation. I've been a major facet of this thread. To deny that is to deny how this game has gone, ghug.

Of course, if you aren't actually paying attention...
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 May 17 UTC
You've been plenty active. I think snowy and I have pretty clearly been in a league of our own as to domination of discussion though. I get the impression we've both posted more, and I'm certain that we've both had more interactions. Your play has consisted of a lot of complaining about how snowy and I play and not a whole lot else, which is a gripe that I've stated before.

How does calling out your shitty play make me scummy? It can't be just my abrasiveness, because I was doing that before and you told me there was no way to get a read out of it. You tried to parallelize it to my logic on snowy, but that parallel clearly doesn't make sense. What is it?
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
As I was saying, it is easy to see why some may believe my play thus far has been scummy. As such, I find TrPrado's reaction to my wagon to be suspicious above all.

His overall play has been marked by a desperation to be perceived as being a useful town player. And yet a careful inspection of his posts (which can be made here: http://mafia.peterlund.se/e/web/msgs?user=TrPrado*) reveals a marked lack of much of any actual contributions which he constantly rebukes others' lacking for, and he also chooses to defend me while concurrently describing my lack of contribution and "destructive" playstyle. This seems in line with the sort of play mafia are often seen to make - being on the right side of a mislynch and later using the incident to self-inject some town cred in his actions.

His statements ring hollow and unnatural to me. If I had to make an early assessment he is the one who I would first mark to be scum.

Of course, there is plenty of time in the phase left, and over the next 42 or so hours I will demonstrate beyond any doubt that I am town. As I said, I don't actually expect to be lynched today, but I feel the need to reverse course with some sense of urgency.

Moscow seems to think that I am poor at faking scum. Untrue, but so long as he and the rest of you believe it I suppose my being my usual self ought to be sufficient evidence to clear me. If not, well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Oh, and as to why I temporarily thought that ND might be scum is because his case on Oztra was so deterministic. As though Oztra's guilt was a foregone conclusion, rather than an open question. I no longer hold this view. I remember his scum play from M28, as well as my assessment of what little has said so far makes me lean town on him.

Two people who I'd love to hear more from are Ezio and y2k. Ezio's absence is conspicuous, and y2k I simply know too little of.
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
Also, I think the way Balki dropped his list and vanished is suspect. But then, there may be external reasons why he may have behaved that way. There are people who I have concerns for lurking, and he's naturally not among them.

Ikaneko may be worth hearing more from, provided he doesn't pull a repeat of M28.
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
Also I'm just saying, this megapost and chill thing isn't really my thing, despite my being known for it
The first time I did it because I was new both to the site and to forum mafia, and wanted to make my towniness immediately known. The second time was just me imitating my previously known meta, because I was scum.
I'll keep doing it because it obviously works and I need things to work, but... meh

Don't be afraid to use the bot, ghug!

You have posted more than Prado, though his were larger and had more total content (word-wise). That said, on the subjective point of "number of interactions" you raised, I'd be inclined to agree you've interacted more and with a wider variety of people.

Also @ghug, you earlier said your abrasiveness gives you reads and posited that snowy was doing the same. Snowy, in my experience tends to drop this over the course of D1 and build reads via other means. Do you plan on becoming any less of an ass? I'd expect you to, given what I've seen of you in the past, but because you've been more annoying here than I've seen in the past, I figured I'd ask.
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
I've not defended you, snowy. As a matter of fact, I'd be quite fine with the end of day wagons being you and ghug. But ghug caught my eye as an opportunist in the manner of his vote for you. Interesting that you're the only two who doubt my contributions.
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
It is easiest to build cases on people who have spoken the most. This tendency has certainly been demonstrated time and time again, as I think there's an inclination for people to measure the total weight of a player's potentially scummy comments rather than attempting to divine the motivations which pulls the lever on the lips.

You say that ghug is opportunistic in his vote on me, and that he is attempting to shut down his opposing pole of leadership by disparaging your play. Is there anything else about his game which has signalled you as being scummy?

What thoughts have you on other players in the game? What questions would you ask, given the chance? For all your protestation of my and ghug's lack of contribution I maintain that you have yet to demonstrate any of your own.
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
I hope everyone noticed what ghug just did. When I came after him and Cerry followed suit, he responded by harping on the least significant detail and redirected the conversation against me. He addressed nothing else.
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
snowy: I'll respond in more detail soon.
snowy801 (591 D)
31 May 17 UTC
It is also nonsense to claim that you were not defending me when you literally started a counterwagon on the most vocal person on my wagon, who was opportunistic and therefore willing to see me lynched - behavior which you would not observe between scum buddies in day 1. To suggest that you think either of us would suffice for a lynch today is incongruous to the statements you've made as well as your vote.
TrPrado (461 D)
31 May 17 UTC
"behavior which you would not observe between scum buddies in day 1"

Is the voter fraud investigation a distraction?
Is it Republican Data mining? Beating a dead horse? Or all of the above. It feels like its designed to help Republicans gain shitloads of unsolicited free information about voters. Why else would they need such data? Why not trust the states - many of which are Red states to uphold fair elections.

Hi. Could someone please explain the syntax for submitting a support order? It shows up as: Army at X support move to Y from Z.
