Magnavox Micromatic Cabinet Record Player
So, I bought a Magnavox Micromatic Cabinet Record Player circa 1968 at Goodwill today. I've never been a huge audiophile but this is still one of the best purchases I've ever made. I'm particularly impressed I was able to plug it in after more than 40 years and have it work right away.

Automatic Cancel
How come games that start with less than 7 players don't automatically cancel? If 2 or more countries don't even show up in a live game why does the system allow it be voted on? It seems like the countries that can get an immediate jump have no incentive to cancel.

Facebook Parenting, Or, How His Daughter Learned to Stop Bitching and Respect Her Parents
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl1ujzRidmU
I was a right shit to my parents at times at 15, especially my father, sure, who isn't as a teenaged boy...but if I'd EVER done or said what she did, I'd have been parented and HOW...and I'd NEVER post something that disrespectful on Facebook like that...but--her father works for Information Technology, and she did that and thought it was smart? Good for him, I say, good parenting...agree?

I will not comment about this game right now, as I am really upset with the outcome and could say something I will regret.

Anyway, congrats uclabb, you played really well.
And sorry Maniac, if it was a regular game I will have never moved after you.

I'm missing something for sure here.

Russia got stabbed and started GIVING the game to France as a result. This is obvious.

Somebody please tell me what was so shocking about what happened in Moscow at the end. Russia supported France's StP into Mos in the spring, and France's Liv supported its hold in the autumn.

Read the orders.
JesusPetry (258 D)
12 Nov 11 UTC
But you hit Moscow twice instead of attacking with support. Russia didn't want to be left out for a 2-way, so made a threat of throwing the game. I did that myself in another game of this tournament, but in my case, the player who would lose with me got the message and helped making the stalemate line for a 3-way.
rdrivera2005 (3533 D(G))
12 Nov 11 UTC
Just want to point that I keep the stalemate line possible until the last moment. If you have voted for a draw when it´s clearly that France will solo it could have been different. Even in the last turn, you could have still supported Ukr to Mos and we will have a sure draw, but you just decide that a 3-way isn´t good enough for you....

Scroll back to autumn 1914 and follow the game for the next two years.

Then comment.

Comment: This game really needs to show when votes went up in game logs. If maple put up a draw before S16 resolution then there's really no excuse for how that ended. If not, I can understand why rdrivera would throw the game instead of taking a probable elimination and 2wd without him.
uclabb (589 D)
12 Nov 11 UTC
maple was the one without a draw vote for the entire end game. I actually had a draw vote up through the turn when rdrivera vacated moscow and berlin, and was lucky to get to the game in time to take it back!
Huh. Uh... well. That's probably why rdrivera threw the game. If I'm Turkey in that case, I'm voting draw and hoping France, the solo threat, withholds the draw. Then I set up the stalemate, wait for France to back off and KO Russia.

So maybe Russia was right in throwing the game, since he wasn't going to be a part of the final draw anyway... *shrug*
uclabb (589 D)
12 Nov 11 UTC
Yeah, I mean obviously i am glad that it was thrown to me, but I think rdrivera had little other choice even if maple was showing a draw. The move on Russia was too far gone at that point and it was obvious that the only two possible results were a two-way or a solo.

This is Summer Gunboat 2011 and we may not finish until 2012! Granted, this is a huge tournament and I'm to blame for a lot of the feet dragging, but still you fellows are SLOOOOW. =P
