Suarez snubs Evra

Evra also didn't act very mature, celebrating in front of Suarez after the game. Way to set an example as captain of one of the biggest clubs in the world. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xojnvz_channel-name-20120211200000_sport?start=10#from=embediframe

Both players act like spoiled children and are a disgrace to the sport.

They are both arseholes, as are most footballers with the notable exceptions of those few exceptional talents and paragons of humanity that amazingly all ended up playing for Everton.

Suarez i.e. the Uruguayan soccer player?

Yeah I hate his ass ever since Ghana.

I should have figured the reply would involve some level of Evra bashing.

ROFL. Wimbledon might disagree.

"Both players act like spoiled children and are a disgrace to the sport."

If this were true then the fault doesn't lie with the children but with the parents, or in this case the managers. Do you think for one moment that the handshake wouldn't have taken place if Kenny Daglish would have instructed Suarez to be the better man? Daglish should have subbed Suarez off before a ball was kicked, that would have ended all such nonsense for good. Liverpool as a club has an unrivalled reputation in football (and I speak as a Villa fan) and it saddens me to think that their club and therefore the whole game is tarnished by Suarez's actions.

The Evra celebrations in front of his own fans may not have been the best actions but nothing compared to the handshake snub. I also question Rio Ferdinand, but suspect his was a split decision rather than pre-mediatated
Mr_rb (594 D)

I agree that the managers should have instructed their players to swallow their pride and set an example. Sad grown-up men need to be told what to do in these situations, but that's just the way it is I guess.

"The Evra celebrations in front of his own fans may not have been the best actions but nothing compared to the handshake snub."

Oh come on.. in front of his own fans, let's just call it 'in front of Suarez'. After all there was a whole stadium of Manu fans and he had to celebrate right in front of Suarez. I also find the comments made by Ferguson (player should never play for Liverpool again) and Ferdinand (lost all respect for Suarez) a bit over the top. It's not like all United players, Evra included, are all saints with unblemished records after all.
Maniac (189 D(B))

@Mr rb - I'm not saying Evra was right to celebrate the way he did, just that it isn't in the same league as the handshake refusal. I don't agree with Fergusion either about Saurez never playing for Liverpool again, but I think Liverpool as a club need to resolve this issue - how they do that is up to them, but fining the player, setting up a televised apology and Saurez/Evra handshake would be good ways of drawing a line. Kenny is quite rightly publically supportive of his player, but I suspect that he knows Suarez was in the wrong and will have to deal with him. Strong managers like Ferguson or Mancini are 100% the boss because they will not tolerate players being childish, Alex has let several key players go if they don't toe his line, and Mancini will let Tevez go cheaply because he didn't do as Mancini asked. It is expensive to act like this, but it saves a fortune in the long run because players know they have a manager that will always do what is right for the club and not yield to childish behaviour.

I don't know Maniac.. I can't see Man U fining Evra for cheering provocatively or Ferdinand for not shaking Suarez hand either, and frankly I think Suarez has been punished sufficiently with his 8 match ban. I prefer Rooney's idea of just giving it a rest; it's something between Evra and Suarez who both clearly loath each other. After all a handshake is not such a big deal- it's not like either player flipped each other off instead of shaking hands.. that would have been something entirely different. Zidane and Materazzi also didn't shake hands for years after their quarrel at the WC, some things just take time. Not everyone has to be friends or even respect each other, as long as they don't deliberately try to cause harm to the other player on the pitch.

Although your comparison with both Manchester managers has some merit I think those incidents were of a different nature. Tevez refused to come on the pitch, and Ferguson also has had some serious issues with several players throughout the years. Suarez however has never (as far as I know) disobeyed his manager. If Kenny would ask him to apologize and he'd refuse it would be something else of course.

I notice Suarez has "apologised" for not shaking Evra's hand, but in doing so, he is careful to apologise to Kenny Dalglish, and to the club, but he does *not* apologise to Evra himself. The "apology" is therefore pretty meaningless.
Mr_rb (594 D)
12 Feb 12 UTC
Think the third sentence of the statement below is a clear apology. What more do you want.. they're arch rivals.

"I have spoken with the Manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong.

"I've not only let him down, but also the Club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened.

"I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.

"I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football."
Victorious (768 D)

and if you look at the video closely (they showed it in slow-motion, otherwise i wouldnt have noticed) Evra is also being an ass because he is putting his hand down inches before the shake, signalling Suarez he also doesn't want to shake it either....

Seems like Liverpool, Suarez and Kenny have taken my advice - wonder if they follow the WebDip forum.

Unfortunately it seems that younger fans are already immitating the professionals.

Magnavox Micromatic Cabinet Record Player
So, I bought a Magnavox Micromatic Cabinet Record Player circa 1968 at Goodwill today. I've never been a huge audiophile but this is still one of the best purchases I've ever made. I'm particularly impressed I was able to plug it in after more than 40 years and have it work right away.

Automatic Cancel
How come games that start with less than 7 players don't automatically cancel? If 2 or more countries don't even show up in a live game why does the system allow it be voted on? It seems like the countries that can get an immediate jump have no incentive to cancel.

Facebook Parenting, Or, How His Daughter Learned to Stop Bitching and Respect Her Parents
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl1ujzRidmU
I was a right shit to my parents at times at 15, especially my father, sure, who isn't as a teenaged boy...but if I'd EVER done or said what she did, I'd have been parented and HOW...and I'd NEVER post something that disrespectful on Facebook like that...but--her father works for Information Technology, and she did that and thought it was smart? Good for him, I say, good parenting...agree?
