Question
If I am moving from Warsaw to Moscow, being supported by Ukraine, and there are two other armies who are moving into Moscow from St. Petersburg and Sevastopol, what happens?(The two armies in St. P and Sevastopol are NOT supporting each other, just moving into Moscow)

Man attacked by Panda
Every year it seems there are numerous stories about people in zoos climbing over fences and moats to get at the animals and than attacked by the animal. In parks people try to feed or pet wild animals with the same results. Than there are cases of domesticated animals being teased till the animal finds a way to get at the person. These events are in the news, signs are posted etc. What the hell are these people thinking! To many Disney Movies? What?

Removing /commands from chat
I think that any line sent in the global chat that starts with a "/" should not be shown in the text. Obviously it will be parsed as a command, and if it is a valid command then the text is not needed as a Gamemaster message is sent instead. As it is, the system gets rather messy as you get lots of lines just saying /pause followed by the system response.

EOG statement - "UN variant"
EOG statement for the “UN variant” game (http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=5933). The game is based on the idea that treaties can be published in global tab, and in that case they are “enforceable” by the UN (i.e.: if they are broken the guilty player will be sanctioned).

So are you letting Britain take Portugal?
stratagos (3269 D(S))
06 Nov 08 UTC
I am. They have offered nonaggression; I take them at their word. It is a risk, but it is one I'm willing to accept. I hope that Austria will see that it is in their long term interest to leave the door to the Med closed, but if they don't, it looks like a free ride to Spain for England!

Thankfully, my connection is stable enough to get the changes entered in time. Thanks for reminding me, though.

Not that diplomacy bears any real relation to the tactics or strategy of WW2

Just wondering what your up to over in Belgium England? Makes me insecure. I'll be leaving tyrolia free btw Austria, so you can relax over there.
MJT123 (738 D(S))

The fleet it no more of a danger to the German people in Belgium than it was in the North Sea (Less of one, actually). It had no other mission for the season and so was sent on routine patrol duty.
Centurian (3257 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
Fair enough. I was just trying to get you talking really. As Austria has so kindly pointed out I wouldn't want our relationship to be one sided, which is half the reason I built a second fleet (the other being the potential Russian threat which has disbanded). I'm thinking I'll move to holland and effectively reduce the incentive (Remember efficient German business model) to stab me.

On to the East. Germany nods in approval at Turkeys fleet build a fleet movement in recognition that Italy and Turkey can't really be friends. Apparently Italy and Germany can't be friends either. How sad, I was really looking forward to a pasta-schnitzel exchange.

To our Austrian cousins. We wonder what your future plans are. We heard rumours from the east that you (like us) are war-mongering germanic aggressors. You ask that you declare your intentions. If neither Italy nor Turkey is to be at the wrong end of a Austrian musket then perhaps the Germans should be concerned. I wouldn't want our relationship to sour just because you have run low on enemies to fight.

Heil
The Chancellor of Germany

Austria: if you and turkey feel you need to kill me, go ahead. Realize that I'll cede Spain to England, so you'll never get out of the med, but it's up to you
Centurian (3257 D)

Also, I'm ordering Warsaw to support move StPetersburg to Moscow. If Austria would like use of that army or England a support to Livonia then let them say.
MJT123 (738 D(S))
07 Nov 08 UTC
I believe Livonia may be more beneficial at this time. Moscow appears to be well enough fortified that troops levels will need to be increased before we can seize it.

Looks like Austria and Turkey couldn't work things out.
The Sultan has not provoked or made any declarations toward the Italian people. We urge the Pontiff to seek another supply center before the year is out, and anticipate there will be no interference with ongoing hostilities against our efforts to free the Balkan states.

Czar, do you require assistance in returning to Rumania?
Samo (534 D)
08 Nov 08 UTC
Dear Sultan. I would be very greatful if you would support my movement back into Rumania! It seems like the Cossacks are no more, but we still have our children! Wicked stone chuckers they are, they can take an eye out with those things!
Centurian (3257 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
I would like to ask my gracious allies from Britain to cut support at Spain and move to Mid-atlantic. In return Warsaw will gladly support Livonia into Moscow. We can celebrate our victories with much ale.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
09 Nov 08 UTC
The Ottoman Empire should have no concern with the forces of Italy.

Austria, you're the one who decided to 'wipe the slate clean'. Have anything to say?
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
I have decided that the Ottomans remain the greatest threat to the Dual Monarchy, and must be tackled at all costs I invite Italy and also Russia to provide all the help that is possible, and will give them both just returns.
Does the Pontiff and the rest of the world see? The Sultan holds his attacks against the Archduke and my just return is to be kicked from Bulgaria! He seeks to destroy my nation! Obviously there can be no peace. You have heard it directly from him. He was war mongering prior to the Spring of 1901 and on he continues! You don't frighten us, Austrian pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you! Leave the Balkans before I taunt you again.

TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
Presumably if I don't leave the Balkans you will not taunt me again. As for me starting the war, did you expect me to think you were being peaceful?
stratagos (3269 D(S))
09 Nov 08 UTC
Austria, you are - flatly - not going to get my support against Turkey. I made all reasonable efforts to come to a solution with you, and you got greedy instead. You're on your own.
Centurian (3257 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
You seem to make reasonable efforts without fruit quite a lot Italy.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
09 Nov 08 UTC
Such is the nature of diplomacy, Germany. On the other hand, while I may be in a much weaker position in terms of SCs, I think I've proven I'll stick to my word. Can't say the same for you, can we?

England, please let me know if I can support you in some way. I have to admit, I didn't see that stab coming.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
I got greedy? In what way did I 'get greedy'? You didn't offer any help whatsoever, which is rather more than can be said about me with regards to you. I presume you don't mind a strong Turkey then. I can wish you all the best, but must predict you the very worst.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
With regards to Turkey, congratulations, you've been pretty damn successful there. Since Italy clearly does not want a war, perhaps it is time we gave him one together. Given the position I find myself in because of Italy's failure to act, I would be delighted to be a junior in an alliance against him
stratagos (3269 D(S))
09 Nov 08 UTC
My failure to act how, by not taking Trieste, as Turkey requested?
Centurian (3257 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
I see Italy is allowed to move within Austrian borders. The German finds this troubling.
We would like to express our regret that our alliance with the British wasn't going to work out. Englands own actions such as not cutting support at spain and convoying to Belgium signify that break down of the relationship. I give sole credit to the Italians.

Germany would like to seriously point out to Italy that he no longer desires to fight the Italian. The reason why he pushed aggressively against him and attempted to start a war between him and the British crown is to save his own neck. He feared (rightly so) that a stalemate at Gibraltar would force the British to look at German lands with a hungrier eye. It was hardly out of an intense desire to take Marseilles. If you wish to pursue our quarrel then so be it. But I'd much prefer a more cooperative relationship. Way your response carefully, for I'm sure my stance towards you will have an affect of the stance to the east.

Heil
The Chancellor
Turkey would urge for rapid retreats and builds and will engage in diplomacy with other nations at the appointed time.

(note: the following response is in jest, and should not be taken as a serious response to the latest post from Germany, as I honestly do not have one right now)

Germany, I'll kill you! Die die die!...

.. but before I do, support my invasion of x province?

Italy was permitted to do no such thing, and seems to consider inaction to be some perverse form of action.

GFTD - Where the games to be WTA or PPSC?
Not that it makes a real difference, as the pot is 5 and the idea is to have the scores calculated by the llama, anyhow. Yet... there was an indication to follow or was it free for us to choose? (I ask since my 2 games are one WTA and one PPSC...)
