Racist or not racist?
White woman starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Not charged with a criminal offense. Apache Indian starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Charged, convicted, and sentenced to ten years in prison. Is this proof of the systemic racism of the American court system or not? Please cast your votes below.

Occupied by "armed Oregon militia." Not terrorists. Even though they're armed and provoking a standoff with the federal government and putting countless lives at risk.

Cat v. Dog
I think Cats are far more lovable. It has been proven cats increase positivity in their owners. They also purr and reduce blood pressure and stress. Plus you never hear some asshole say: "honey we gotta take the fucking cat for a walk, AGAIN"

Dogs smell, and they jump on people and slobber on you. Cats should win this thing.

UN II - Constitution, resolutions and proposals.
The world has changed. The time of a lonely superpower is over. There are 17 powers in the world, and each of them has a vote in the security council in the new United Nations (UN).
The purpose of the game is role-playing game of diplomacy where the diplomacy between countries is in focus, not the actual war. You should choose a role to play (the neutral country opposed all wars, the super-power wanna-be, the federalist, the I'm-just-gonna-fuck-you-up-IS-role, or any other role).

I have been waiting months for this to make sense to me, but I still don't get it. When I click on Games, at the moment it says "Joinable (54)". When I click on the tab, I only see 1, and that game doesn't even have any joinable positions. What am I missing?

Well, at least for me, I'm happy to dig in and see what kind of interesting things happened. I'll make the order logs and big maps publicly available soon. For those who want to know what country I was and a taste of what it was like to wake up to each morning, see here:
https://puu.sh/jdJ6K/35988a978a.png

I also recorded myself playing/commentating/analyzing 1901 for all 50 games, which can be seen here [TRIGGER WARNING: unmade beds; majestic beards]:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2MtCQeSvD3iJM1pAVWp-b6krGern2Ws7

Unfortunately, Day 2 part 1 has no video, Day 2 part 2 has no sound, and I was too tired for Day 3, and the NMRs started happening Day 4. But it was a good practice exercise that gave me some training grounds and space for mistakes.

Again, many thanks to abge for helping out with that.

An example of what I learned:
Every game as Turkey I opened
CON-BUL
ANK-CON
SMY-ANK

and then assuming Russia moves SEV-BLA (which I believe happened about 8/10 times):
BUL-CON
ANK-CON
CON-AEG
getting my fleet to the AEG ASAP and then self-bouncing in CON to prevent CON/ANK being taken by BLA.

However IIRC there was never an attempt on my home centers by BLA. So I might just start going straight ANK-CON and not waste the turn in paranoia protecting my home centers. This would drastically change my Turkey play in gunboat, and it wouldn't be so obvious to me without this fun little party =) Lots of other things to learn as well I think.

If everyone was willing to say who they were for each game I'd be much obliged.

First I want to thank abgemacht and the mods for letting me play even though I was short on points. I had a ton of fun (even though it ended early) and I'm really grateful for your support. Abge probably wants his points back now, so if someone could set up a transfer that would be great. If it doesn't happen in the near future, I'll send a reminder email the mod address.

Here are my countries:
001 Russia
 002 Turkey
 003 Russia
 004 Turkey
 005 Germany
 006 England
 007 France
 008 France
 009 Russia
 010 Italy
 011 Italy
 012 Turkey
 013 Russia
 014 Russia
 015 Italy
 016 Russia
 017 England
 018 Austria
 019 France
 020 France
 021 Russia
 022 Austria
 023 Russia
 024 Austria
 025 Austria
 026 Russia
 027 Turkey
 028 France
 029 England
 030 Italy
 031 Turkey
 032 Turkey
 033 Austria
 034 Austria
 035 Germany
 036 France
 037 England
 038 France
 039 Russia
 040 Austria
 041 Italy
 042 Italy
 043 Russia
 044 France
 045 Turkey
 046 England
 047 Italy
 048 Turkey
 049 Russia
 050 France

Here's the breakdown:
Austria  7
England  5
France  9
Germany  2
Italy  7
Russia  12
Turkey  8

I was amazed I only had Germany twice. I'm actually a big fan of Germany, especially in gunboat. But that's the way it goes I guess. France seemed really easy to play in most games. My other most successful games were generally as Russia and Turkey (though I had a few good Austrias and my Germanies were pretty good). Russia, Turkey, and Austria seemed to have the most volatility, especially Turkey, where I could be dominating one game (7-8 centers were fairly common) and struggling with 3 centers in another. For Austria it largely depended on whether Italy was friendly, and for Russia one's early successes seemed to rest upon Turkey.

I mixed up my openings a bit and quickly found I like some better than others. While it can be tempting for England to open to the English Channel, it didn't seem all that profitable as it's much easier to get France on one's side early in the game than it is for Germany. Perhaps the problem was that I forced my way into Belgium and then was unable to do anything with it once it got there.
France has some interesting opening decisions to make. I chose to play Bre-MAO in every game. The upside is obvious and I couldn't bring myself to try Bre-Eng. Moving to Burgundy is pretty much a necessity, but there are many possible ways to do this. Marseilles supporting Paris-Bur is an obvious choice, but I found myself worrying about Lon-Eng and having to use my MAO fleet to cover Brest. Regardless, it's still a very strong opening for France. I like Paris-Bur and Mar-Gas because Brest is covered whether or not Paris-Bur bounces. Though in those games I missed having a guaranteed army in Bur.
Turkey's interesting choice is whether or not to play Ank-Bla. I tried both in this series, and I still can't decide which is better. It's nice to communicate good intentions to Russia, but sometimes those aren't reciprocated. One time I played Con-Bul, Ank-Con and Smy-Arm. I think that lets Russia know that you're friendly but also cautious. Then again, my most successful games as Turkey were those in which I was able to grab Sev because Russia was too busy fighting up north.

I forgot to mention another thing I tried as France. I think Par-Bur alongside Mar-Bur is the safest option, because all home centers can be easily covered and Germany has no chance of entering Bur. Though once again I missed having an army in Bur, especially when England was friendly

My attempt as Austria for hedgehog opening was as amusing at it was a failure.

I found myself experimenting a little too much due to the volume of games. I'm sure if this happens again, the one who is the most mentally disciplined will have the greatest net results.

So, I just watched your commentaries... I love you too, Valis. :)

Are we gonna set up something to make comments on every game separately? Perhaps /r/VGB50, and 50 threads?

By the way, I got France 0 times for the 25 games, and I think only twice England. Which is very bad, because a) I'm best at gunboat with France, and b) the system obviously thinks I shouldn't be getting France.. And since the games are cancelled, it will continue to think that for the next series.
Sherincall (338 D)

Also, who was the poor Italian I attacked in VGB45? I'm sorry. I just had 8 Austrias, was bored of all other openings.

Sherincall that was hillarious. I was Turkey, who profited nicely from your experiment. I think we're talking about the same game
Sherincall (338 D)

Yes, we are. I was hoping Russia would open south, and sensing the huge vacuum you and Russia would fight it out. Russia ended up going north/Germany-way, so it all failed miserably. In the end it was me and Italy just trying to eliminate each other before you took over.

I'm also waiting for some analysis of the games. Just watched your videos Valis; it's pretty entertaining to watch--especially the games in which you were my neighbor. But once the maps are posted I'd love to talk a bit more with the other participants about what they were thinking in the 3-4 years we were able to play.
