I'm trying to make sense of this thread on mobile, perhaps somebody can help me. When did we start calling people separatists? Let's just remember they live here.

I'm sorry to miss some of the nuance here, I'm too busy to be more active, but I would absolutely support any move towards a path based on trust and transparency in collaboration with the elders. Frankly, I'm quite surprised that this group of Diplomacy players is unable to create joint interests to work on together.

Magistrate: Councilor TMoW, the colonists have broken into two camps: those loyal to the King and those loyal to the Elders. The Elders are no longer responding to directives of the Council, so the Council has labeled them separatists. Loyal colonists were promised increased food, which the council cannot provide, thus the discussion on decreasing allowed consumption.

At the very least, HR should have been WAY more specific about what he was promising.

The magistrate informs the Council there is not much time remaining and still several decisions that needs to be resolved.

Also, HR, you need to make the results link public, and I personally think SecDef should get emergency powers. That's practically the job description.

And that's if ANYONE should get emergency powers. I don't really like the idea of emergency powers existing.

We can deal with secretary positions after the phase is over. For now, we need to make absolutely certain that we are a) cutting our rations significantly, b) taking all rations away from the separatists, and c) potentially taking food directly from the separatists in order to feed our loyal crowd. Otherwise, they're going to go back to what they already know, and I'm sure the elders, having been labeled so harshly, will be more than happy to take defectors back in if it means we are weakened.

Bottom line - we can't not feed our loyal crowd and keep those promises. We have to find a way, no matter what it is.

We will give them air in the shape of fruit? Because that's the best we have right now. We will give it to them as we are able (if/when people start coming to our side, we will reward the loyalists for being ours the whole time).

Steal the fruit from the separatists. It's an option on the poll, so is it not possible? Otherwise, we need to make more commitments to them, other things that are in our control (better pay, maybe?), so that they don't leave us for their old camp. It's a lot easier for them to go than it is to stay, and they're looking for every reason in the world to go back, especially those of them whose families and friends are split between the two sides, so we need to make sure they feel like it truly benefits them to stay.

Yes, Missionary, they may starve, which forces them to come to us for food, making them dependents. Soon they'll become loyal. It's not like we are threatening their lives - all they have to do is work for us and join our side of the fight in deposing the Elders and they get to eat again.

Also, separatists don't have fruit either. It was something we were planning on bringing here. So there is no fruit on the island at all.
