Ethics of replacing CDs
Would it be frowned on to find a replacement you know is pliable? In effect, is it okay to take the game into consideration in terms of your hunt for a replacement (or lack thereof)? I feel this is under-discussed, compared to, say, pauses.

Do boycotts work? Should we boycott a pape and their sister papers and put in jeperdy the careers of innocent workers? Should we support advertisers pulling their adverts and protest against companies who don't pull their ads?

How long is a 'process cycle' concerning a live 5 min/phase game?
I just ask because I joined such a game and ended up CDing against my will after waiting for 2 hours for it to start.

Diplomacy strategy articles?
I'm pretty familiar with openings... and general concepts for the mid and late game... and have read the articles available on these topics in the Diplomatic pouch (diplom.org) and the Diplomacy Archive (diplomacy-archive.com)... Where can I learn more about more specific strategies beyond the openings in 1901? Or, at least, where can I find more good articles beyond these two sources? Thanks!

Obama is a failed politician
Obama's glaring inabilities as a politician are no longer hidden by Democrat's control of the Senate and the House.

"Up here, in Canada, we think that Obama is a stupid nigger."
I would have to agree, but here in Australia we think the Republicans in general are retards who only know how to cause a country to implode. We think the Democrats are slightly better because they don't do anything.

Another day of "Let's raise taxes $1 Trillion in a recession" from Barack. 2012 can't come soon enough. We need some real leadership in Washington D.C.
Who is going to step forward? No Democrat can challenge Barack. It's the same story as 1980. Which Republican will come in with some real solutions is the only real question.

"Up here, in Canada, we think that Obama is a stupid nigger."

Which is why you elected an avowed white supremacist (Northern Foundation/Heritage Front) Prime Minister. He suits you perfectly. Now Canada has the most odious leadership in North America. Ha, they even blocked you from getting your precious UN security council seat. Nice job, Canada.

Obama lowered taxes over and over again. As you usual, you just make stuff up.

"I think we all can agree on one thing Obama won completely and only because he's black"

No, the fact that McCain got any votes at all was because Obama was black and McCain & the GOP ran a wretched race-baiting campaign that will live in shame in the annals of US presidential campaign history.
"We need some real leadership in Washington D.C."
I'm afraid that day will never come while there are still Republicans or Democrats in office.

"See...when you call Jack and Putin out publicly on what hypocrites that are....they shut up and disappear. I win."
They'll be back krellin, they always come back...

"I think we all can agree on one thing Obama won completely and only because he's black"
Couldn't agree more. He also had a catchy slogan, and we all know how much that wins over the uneducated morass of America. But I'm glad he did win, because he isn't going to crash the US immediately and take our economy down with it like Bush attempted to do.

Whichever Canadian insulted Obama does not represent Canada.

"Which is why you elected an avowed white supremacist (Northern Foundation/Heritage Front) Prime Minister. He suits you perfectly. Now Canada has the most odious leadership in North America. Ha, they even blocked you from getting your precious UN security council seat. Nice job, Canada."
Obama has an approval rating of over 60% here (unfortunatly)

Also we did not elect a supremacist leader. 55% of immigrants voted for Harper for good reason.

Also sure Harper is more conservative the Obama (making Obama more odious) also try to remember those idiotic christian bigots in the republican party still control congress, so as a whole Americas government is still more (in your books and in mine) odious then Canada's :P

"Electing John Howard's government over and over again I guess is an example of educated voting."
Educated and voting can't be in the same sentence unless it has to do with supporting elitist voting.
Voting works a little different here, Putin. Most areas in the city and suburbs of Victoria constantly voted Labor, in some cases Labor had a 50% majority across the country, but because Liberals had more seats elected they won. We elect locally, and those representatives elect a PM. Now it's all a party system, so you elect locally, and they elect their party leader. The splitting of zones seems to favor Liberals a lot, as does the media. The fact that Labor was even capable of winning against the completely rigged shit shows how intelligent the voters are.
It's been rigged for liberals for about a hundred years btw.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
15 Jul 11 UTC
If that is the case then riddle me this, How come with both parties getting 50% of the vote last election did the Labour win?
Putin, you reminded me of a Chaser's skit where they went around talking to idiots around election time and after having a conversation where that person makes a fool of themselves, a red stamp comes down on the screen syaing: "THIS PERSON VOTES"

jD are you sure that it is right? I just checked the results for each Victorian state election since 1982 and since then the winning party has won the most primary votes. You make it sound like the liberal have been winning despite receiving fewer votes and this does not appear to be true. What have I missed?
Qld under Joe Bjeilke-Petersen and the Nationals on the other hand... that was rigged for a long time (the irony being that it was Labor who originally set up the gerrymander but the nationals who ended up benefiting the most).

Sure, except the Coalition got 800,000 more actual votes than Labor in the House elections in 1996; 500,000 more in 2001, and almost 1,000,000 more in 2004.
Ooh, the hung Parliament! You see, in Australia, third party and independents can actually get elected as ministers. But every minister has an opportunity to vote which minister is the PM. They don't normally vote, but because Liberal and Labour had equal seats (not votes, vote % don't matter on a country wide level), the independents had the option of tipping the election in whichever direction they wanted. So both parties were trying to crack deals with these independents in order to win the election. Labor eventually got more of them to vote for them than Liberal, and so they won.

Oh god, canw e get somebody that can intelligently put forward facts and ideas for the conservative side in this thread?

We've got TC, who can't understand sarcasm, and doesn't know how to put statistics into context.

And then we've got krellin who never presents any statistics or facts and just types in caps whenever he gets "mad"

I know how your system works, but the point is since 1982, the party with the most votes has won the election. So claiming that its rigged for the coalition is just plain BS.

@Putin: I would much rather rely on Canadian Newspapers then some fucked up site when it comes to looking at the results of a Canadian election.

Yes but you are forgetting that usually the liberal government does not rule by itself. It is (almost) always a coalition of conservative parties.
spyman (424 D(G))
15 Jul 11 UTC
... also we have a preferential system. So while the liberals did not always win on primary vote, those preferences from the Nationals or One Nation went to the liberals. Just as the preferences from the Greens usually go to Labor.

The fact is, until he lost to Kevin Rudd, John Howard was a very popular Prime Minister. He was conservative, but no where near as conservative as what American's would consider conservative. More important though to Howard's success was his ability to play the game. He was in politics for a very long time and he wasn't always as skilled at manipulating the voters, but he eventually figured it out.

If it was August 1939, and you were a German, Aryan male aged 22 and were offered to join the SS (and you had no knowledge about what was to come) do you think you would have been smart enough to say no? I Have An Honest Question Here...
This one's bugged me for a while, really, and I've just got to ask it:

If you believe God sent Jesus to die for our sins or that Jesus wanted to die for our sins and save us and all that...why? If he/they/both are God, ie, almighty, why not just "waive the debt," rather than self-mutilate? And why would either care at all? (and "because he loves us" is NOT a valid answer...somehow Hell + Pain On a Cross =/= LOVE to me...)
