Gunboat to introduce new players to site
I introduced several friends to Webdiplomacy, through a full-press game. Several players (five!) indicated they want to play another gunboat game on the side to get the hang of the site. They're reasonably experienced, so we're looking for two reasonable other players to give some staunch opposition.
Who feels like a game?!

Thoughts of Americans about opinions of "foreigners"about Americans?
So, Americans, what do you think of our opinions of you? What do you think we think about you? I'm curious, because I hear rather often how we are all blaming America blablabla while I know no one who actually does that.

Official Layout for The School of War: Summer 2013 Game 1
===================================================

Professors:
1. 2ndWhiteLine
2. Tru Ninja
3. ghug
3. jmo

TAs:
1. bosox-Italy
2. slyster-Russia
3. Socrates-Austria
4. StackelbergFollower-Germany
5. Favio-England
6. jacobcfries-France
7. patzicool-Turkey

Players;
1. Atundal
2. Jasbrum
3. lukebohannon20
4. gavrilop
5. steephie
6. murraysheroes
7. Hamilton Brian

Jasbrum will be in charge of creating the game. It should be created as follows:

Classic, Full Press, 48 hour Phases, NON anonymous, Winner-Takes-All with a 5 D buy-in. It needs to be password protected. Allow 5 days for all players to join (start date will be Monday or Tuesday at the latest, or whenever all players have joined).

Once the game is up, copy and paste the game link into a PM that you will send to all other players along with the password.

Once the game is created, notify me and I will create the official thread for the commentary. After the game starts, as soon as you discover the country you are playing, contact your TA and touch base with them. It should be beneficial to find out what the TA expects out of you in terms of (a) how to contact them with information and (b) what sort of information you should send on a regular basis, and (c) how frequently you need to contact them at a minimum. It's likely that most professors will want a general layout of the press you receive, although some might require specific text. Most will prefer PMs or emails with the information, and each TA will probably want contact at least once for each phase within the first 12-24 hours to allow them time to digest the information and respond. Please keep in mind that they are also playing this game, in a sense, and even for TAs, the answer to a problem is not often clear-cut and requires time. After all, they are, in a sense, playing this game as well.

Should you as a player encounter any problems that require immediate attention, please contact me via PM. Such problems might be the loss of a TA, an unfortunate circumstance that requires swift pause (NMRs do not warrant a pause), or other related item. If a pause needs to occur, please notify the group in the global chat and notify your TA. Remember, please refrain from posting things in the official thread for this game.

One player will be taking a trip through half of the month of June. During this time, the game will pause. The general consensus is that no one wants to switch out players or post-pone the game.

Profs: It is recommended (but not required) that you submit some sort of opening comments. It is required that all profs post at least once per game year, although more frequently is appreciated.

I wish everyone good luck, and I'm as eager as you all to get this first game rolling.

Possible Intermediate Game:

Profs:
1. jmo(?)
2. tru ninja (?)

TA's
1. ePICFaeYL

Well, thanks for letting me in, guys! I appreciate it! I'm up for the Intermediate Game as well if allowed, but it seems like there are players enough for that. And I'm fine with not being in as well. Can't be too greedy, can I? :P

also, patizcool, not sure if you're aware of this but Draugnar probably posted the countries in the order he prefers them, so he wants Germany the most, Austria the least.

@rs2excelsior,
As I mentioned, I'd be willing to give up my seat if someone wants it. I do have a lot of games under my belt (I've completed 55, though most were Gunboat), so despite a really high defeat rate (38%) I'd be happy to yield to someone like rs2e who has only 7 completions.

You both seem to feel the same about it...

You both have good percentages, and rs2excelsior has the least experience so if you both really don't care which one it is, I think rs2excelsior makes the most sense, but it's not to me to make the decision, I'm just trying to make sure you guys don't go like "oh you can take it if you want, but I would like it too" all the time lol.

jmo: doesn't it start as soon as the 7th player joins?

Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
16 May 13 UTC
@steephie: I'm not following your comments. Hecks, who has offered to step down and allow rs2 to replace him, is in Game 2. Game 2 hasn't even gathered together the necessary TA's to start.

You're in Game 1. Game 1 consists of the following players: 1. Atundal, 2. Jasbrum, 3. lukebohannon20, 4. gavrilop, 5. steephie, 6. murraysheroes and 7. Hamilton Brian.

These players have all been given passwords to Game 1. At this point, I'm not going to change things as it will only cause some confusion and chaos. If some players are stronger than others in Game 1, then so be it. It just means that they start off on different topics with their TA's.

I am about to graduate...
Hello WebDip community.
I am about to graduate high school (2 weeks after tomorrow) and I was wondering if anybody here has any general tips or experiences they can share with me and/or anybody who is graduating. I believe many of you on this site have gone through college or high school already, and was just wondering if anybody could ease my nerves about my future.
I am going to be attending University of River Falls - Wisconsin in the USA; I plan on becoming a teacher.

Men's Clothing
I just got my first real job last week and now I'm in a bit of a tight spot. My wardrobe needs to be updated to be semi-professional and done (mostly) on the kind-of cheap. My work environment is not overly formal (no tie or suit) but I still want to look good and purchase good quality and good fitting clothing and would like some recommendations.

Using the vote button in gunboat
Can someone please clarify what the new rules are about using the vote buttons in gunboat? Back in the day communication using these buttons was accepted (eg. "Cancel" = let's stop fighting, "Draw" = let's take out the big guy, "Pause" = Somebody help me, etc.). I know there was some tl;dr about it in the Gunboat Tournament thread but if any mods/admins can clear it up here i'd appreciate it.
