Well, thought I would do a short and sweet EOG here. It was my turn to control France for this tournament.

1901 - saw Germany and England and I talk about a WT. And more specifically Germany and I talk about a faint WT to England bonerush. That was exactly what we did. It helped that Germany was very kind in his army placement and that England went balls to the walls to Ska in fall 01. A convoy to wales and he was toast soon after.

At this point it seemed a giant waste of time to go all the way south with such great position on Germany. So I kept pushing at him. There was a point here in the mid-game that Austria had grown to a nice size and my press dried out as I was basically going one on one with Germany b/c everyone elses hands were full. Germany got a fleet behind me and I stalled moving forward while he dicked around with me with it. It seemed like this set back time actually helped me as the rest of the board jumped on Austrias quick growth and ignored my position for awhile since it wasn't advancing.

The key to winning this game was 2 . First 1908 after I got 2 builds and built fleet marseilles. Everyone at this point was clamering about a solo and Italy looked to be heading my way. I believe I talked him into changing course b/c it was too early for stalemates and that set up my ability to take Tunis in a couple years.

Second, Russia and Austria were at each others throats all game. In 1909 Austria and Germany felt they were on the brink of elimination and were helping me. Austria took vienna back from Russia and all hell broke loose between them. Resulted in Russia disbanding BOH which kept alive my hopes of capturing Munich/Berlin. For the next few moves they continued to go at each other, I can't remember when but there was a muting in there somewhere.
