The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

What's the difference between vdiplomacy and webdiplomacy?
I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What to do?
What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

Can we get vaccinations started for 100 colonists? I say we vaccinate the elder council, and start vaccinating children. We do have 100 vaccinations.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
23 Mar 15 UTC
Alchemist: I am the only one with the skills to administer vaccinations. Shall I stop my research to vaccinate the population?

The Magistrate informs the council there is not much time remaining and there are several tasks that are still conflicting:

Tasks
Have the Farmer oversee Chickens
Recall the Lt of the Guard and have him defend the town (DELAYED)
Issue formal apology to Elders
Attempt to recruit Elders as Advisors
Have the Alchemist research Medicine (DELAYED)
Present counteroffer to Elders (UNDECIDED)
Assign 1 Game Hunter to Wheat
Meet with Colonists and offer them food, clothes, and a royal seal in exchange for direct loyalty to the Council

Policies
Add new mothers (~80) to workforce and have the Elders watch over infants (TO BE REPEALED)
Lower the age of the workforce to 12 (ENACTED)
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

NO VACCINATIONS. Most of us seem to support researching agriculture, so that's what the alchemist should be doing.

This everyone voting on everything when people phase in and out is quite unwieldy though. We should think of alternatives after this month, such as delegations or dividing responsibilities. It'd make this a lot easier to process.

As for the counter-offer: lump sums are unlikely to bribe elders: they're old, they won't have time to spend huge amounts of gold anyway.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
HR: Where will they spend that gold anyway?
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
That gold should be any gold.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
23 Mar 15 UTC
Traders, naturally. We want them to be dependent on us for contact with the traders: Them being able to bypass us for trade would be disastrous.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
The traders don't interact with the colonists. They are sent from the Kingdom and sell things to us as we need them. As long as we don't ask any of them to stay here, we're fine.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
Head Councilor Hellenic, could you please take the counteroffer plan to vote?
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
23 Mar 15 UTC
Yours is the only solid offer I actually see, though. There's not even half a consensus here to vote over.
mendax (321 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
I proposed the apology idea first, and i think a sincere apology from the HC on behalf of the councillors combined with a repeal of the offending policy should be sufficient for now.

We can work on a better solution later, with them involved in the decision making process, but for now we need to just avert the impending social crisis.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
23 Mar 15 UTC
The apology has been accepted by all.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
The real question, mendax, is all that the apology entails.
mendax (321 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
My point is that I don't think that any material goods need to be included with it.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

We'll give the apology and offer them material nothing then. See if they come crawling back, and continue with the plan to get the adults on side and bypass them. Sounds good to me.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
They're stubborn. If we give them nothing, they may well refuse to work with us as part of our Advisors.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Mar 15 UTC
I think we should give them something material. Even if they don't necessarily care for it, it shows more sincerity that we are willing to give up a pretty hefty chunk of change.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
23 Mar 15 UTC
Chuck a keg of ale at them then. Doesn't matter if the elders are too drunk to work, and it'll put them in a good mood :)

I am sorry Hellenic Riot but you have been gone most of today which i do not knock. In that time we had moved well toward a solution in which the needs of colonists, the elders and ourselves would have been met. You arrived, and literally made a decision which could result in complete loss of loyalty from our colonists. even 50% drop off in loyalty lowers our production by half. I think you have suggested and enacted very irresponsible and near-sighted legislation and this month will tell. You may say "where were you for the past hour?" and I would say back that when I left the council appeared to be moving in a direction that i approved of, thanks to the leadership of CouncilTMOW; now I am near complete disagreement with your suggestions.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
24 Mar 15 UTC
I also believe that your lack of activity this month was a serious delay to our ability to coordinate voting; I would like to propose you step down or that the council hold new elections, should this month turn out for the worse.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
24 Mar 15 UTC
You mean the decision that multiple people were discussing there? There was no agreement on what to give them beforehand, and I've been here quite a while. Prado, Bo, Mendax and I were all talking here at the end.

HR- you were the first to suggest we attempt to go behind their backs, and you drove that plan forward. Before that the consensus was that we should do our best to appease the elders while trying to find new incentives for the people to work. You turned that into rewarding the adults who sided with us at the risk of causing civil conflict in the colony. If shit hits the fan, you are personally to blame as the "compromising" HC; your job shouldn't be to push forward your agenda, it should be to find the compromise... do your job

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
