The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

continue to excuse me*

It is the fault of these pagans that our king, our divine and merciful king, has lost profit and grown ever so saddened by this colony's output. It is with his blessing we were sent here to improve this colony, by any means necessary. We owe it to our countrymen and to our crown to destroy the pagan beliefs of these barbarians; to eradicate the vermin these creatures have become. They are below us, they are inferior, they must die. Der Produktionplan!

Honestly, the wheat we produce this month should make up for our losses last month and (if we don't have the Magistrate move workers around to put more people into wheat before month's end) next month. I say take one of the younger game workers and have him moved to wheat. That should fix the problem to where we can take the new mothers out.

Magistrate: The disposition of individual colonists is unknown. Traditionally, the colonists will follow directives put in place by me as directed by the council, so long as such directives are not in direct conflict with the wish of the Elders.
Tasks:
Have the Farmer oversee Chickens
Recall the Lt of the Guard and have him defend the town
Issue formal apology to Elders
Attempt to recruit Elders as Advisors
Have the Alchemist research Medicine
Present counteroffer to Elders (undecided)

Policies
Add new mothers (~80) to workforce and have the Elders watch over infants (TO BE REPEALED) (CONFLICT)
Lower the age of the workforce to 12 (ENACTED)
TrPrado (461 D)

I believe the conflict is moot. I was the only one who opposed it being repealed, and even I am backing off of that. Can we have one of the younger game hunters moved to wheat farming?

Seriously, I am going to disagree on most of these items here.

Yes medicine is important, but *we need to increase production*. That's the engine that will get everything else going up. If we can't increase the workforce, we'll have to increase efficiency.
So I suggest to ##ASSIGN ALCHEMIST TO AGRICULTURE

There is no security threat, let's get real. The people are pissed because we acted stupidly. They are right. Let's apologise, reverse course and we're fine. We havent pissed them off too much yet, but if we arm ourselves to defend we may well do that. We should really stop playing this game as if it's a computer sim. We don't need to arm, we need to find out our resources.
So I suggest ##ASSIGN LT OF THE GUARD TO KEEP EXPLORING

And I don't want to "recruit" the Elders, I want to have a meaningful conversation with them, to ask their advice on how we could improve production. I would tell them: we mean them no harm, but we are under orders to increase the production. We want the pearl production to increase and to help the local population. How would they advise we go abaout it, to make sure it's in everybody's benefit?
## ASK ADVICE TO ELDERS ON HOW TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE

##REPEAL MOTHERS WORKING

The counter-offer to the Elders is simply first to apologise and roll back our changes. Let's undo our horrible handiwork first and let them return to the peace of before. On the basis of that discussion we can talk again. We should realise that, unlike other games, the amount of turns doesnt matter. If we take a bit longer to turn this around, that would be fine. We're not in a hurry, we don't have other players to compete against.

Also, I'd like to know the local customs in terms of justice. What is the penalty for killing, stealing and other common crimes?
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
TMOW: The Lt returning isn't necessarily a defensive measure. I treat more as reconnaissance to learn what he's already discovered on the island. He may have found resources that can help our production.
Him coming back was a response to Leroy who asked what our security status is vis-a-vis the locals. I say, let the Lt come back when he's ready.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
I'm aware of his intentions. I agreed to his coming back on separate intentions. Upping watches is rash, putting the colonists in a position of full intimidation after a dispute with the Elders is rash (HR's plan far less rash, though, as it was calm and more planned out). Honestly, I was about to break down in anger when I began contemplating the Elders' words. I even commented that the Elders were borderline criminals. I refused to act on that statement because I realized my judgment was being clouded by anger. I feel that part of this predicament is that we have been too slow to act on some things, and too fast on others. We don't have a proper pace at all. We should have kept a constant dialogue with the Elders the moment we got here, as they could give more solid answers than the Magistrate on certain issues. Acting too fast was us as a collective becoming desperate in regards to half the reason we're here. If we moved workers around in just about any way, we couldn't sustain ourselves in everything we need. If we disregarded the King's demands, we'd lose the Royal Guard. We needed to do something, but we went one step to far in this. TMOW is one of the few of us who can't take blame, as we voted on this issue, and he was one of the few that said no.

So what do we do? what is our best possible course of action? the course that least hurts our stance but gives back the least ground?

We would have their constant input if they cared enough about what we were deciding, much like how the Missionary advised CB to abandon the smallpox plan because it would be a great sin.

The Magistrate advises Councilor TMoW that the best way to seek advice from the Council would be to recruit them as Advisors.

As the colonists are communal, crimes usual result in loss of rights within the community. Lesser crimes may result in less food, for instance. Serious crimes may result in being ostracized from the town, which likely would result in death.

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
