The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

What's the difference between vdiplomacy and webdiplomacy?
I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What to do?
What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

Year 1
Month 3

Magistrate: I have enacted your policies and completed your tasks. The updated state of the Town is in the Scroll.

Magistrate: The Elders agreed to your meeting. They are not against having younger children work, but ask what compensation you will offer their families. Why is it that their children should toil for free for some far-off King? They are strongly against having new mothers join the workforce. There are enough workers to provide for the Town's needs. Young children need their mothers.

Alchemist: Councilors, I have completed researching Agriculture. I know have the basic understanding I need to make discoveries in Agriculture and will continue to do so until instructed otherwise.

Missionary: Councilors, I have begun teaching the remaining children left without work.

Mason: Councilors, I have completed a Barn. I have begun work on a Barrow.

Farmer: Councilors, I have instructed workers to raise Chickens and plant Apples and Tomatoes. I am currently idle. I can be assigned to a resource to enhance its production.

Magistrate: The Elders are concerned that you introduced children into the workforce without accounting for their demands.

Magistrate: The Elders are furious you added new mothers to the workforce against their wishes.

Ask the elders how we could compensate for the women and children.
mendax (321 D)

Ah, arrogant imperialists concerned only with production, you've really fucked things up here.
KingCyrus (511 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
As I said, I thought we should wait for the Council's opinion before we made any radical changes to workforce. Meanwhile, we must relieve the new mothers ASAP.
KingCyrus (511 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
The children, we must make it known, will be very well compensated with their education and healthcare, as well as developing the infrastructure.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
23 Mar 15 UTC
@KC- we should take advantage of the fact that we can talk to the elders now and ask them how we could compensate children and mothers without taking them out of the workforce. if they say there is no way then i agree but we should seek the compromise before we just give in.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
23 Mar 15 UTC
on that note, no increase in production is worth a civil dispute.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Magistrate: The Elders demand new mothers be removed from the workforce. They will also no longer give pearls freely as gifts. They are demanding 1 gold for every pearl harvested.
TrPrado (461 D)

This sounds like an uprising...
KingCyrus (511 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
Oh boy, here we go.... Remove the mothers from the workforce, ASAP.
KingCyrus (511 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
We have to convince them that our presence is worth the pearls. Our protection, our teaching, our medicine.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
Wait, so the reason the elders are mad about new mothers in the workforce isn't because of the health, but instead because of the children!? Part of the policy took care of the children. The council should have come to meet with US if they were going to get so mad about it. The children we can provide for pretty easily by giving them special conditions. Honestly, it feels like the Elders are yelling and screaming way in over their heads.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Policies
Add new mothers (~80) to workforce and have the Elders watch over infants (TO BE REPEALED)
Lower the age of the workforce to 12 (ENACTED)

They're making us pay for something they find no intrinsic value in? That's practically stealing!!

Farmer: Councilor Prado, I will not be of much help until the fruit is ready for harvesting. Would you like me to focus on something else in the meantime?
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
Perhaps get the chickens organized into the barn? I can hardly think straight because I'm so cross with the Elders. I'm on the verge of declaring them criminals for deliberately interfering with the processes of the King. Magistrate, do NOT repeal that policy yet.
mendax (321 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
I propose that HC personally apologises for the recent policy changes, and promises that the elders will be consulted in future.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Tasks:
Have the Farmer oversee Chickens

Policies
Add new mothers (~80) to workforce and have the Elders watch over infants (TO BE REPEALED) (CONFLICT)
Lower the age of the workforce to 12 (ENACTED)
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
23 Mar 15 UTC
May the elders be reminded that since arriving we have introduced domesticated animals and are in the process of introducing larger food crops. Also confirm to the elders that we will remove women from the work force, consult them from now on (however we expect them to come at our immediate beckon we should not be expected to wait a month for them to walk down the dirt path to meet with us) but will not be paying for pearls. We will go back to the status quo.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
I like mendax's idea for now so long as we don't lose anyone in the workforce. I want the missionary and elders taking care of the younger children to set up a daycare system. The missionary's main job in it would still be to teach, and part of that teaching would make its way to those elders taking care.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
23 Mar 15 UTC
*too the side without any elders overhearing* I would like to know from the Royal Guard Captain if we could have increased patrols, and I want an immediate offensive planned in the event that a uprising takes place.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
23 Mar 15 UTC
TrP- I think we should consider heading the elders warning. we should concede the mothers in the workforce in favor of not losing pearl production.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Captain of the Guard: I recommend immediately recalling the Lt and his men from their exploration to ensure the town is properly secured.

Did you all really overlook the idea that I proposed about compensating the natives for their sacrifices, particularly the new mothers? You all need to realize that they have their own governing body in the elders, unorganized as it may be, and they deserve our respect. If we're going to enact something to up production, as we should, like bringing new mothers in, we need to COMPENSATE THEM. We aren't simply going to be able to lay down the law here. If we enact something, we have to look at it from their side and try to play a push-pull game. If we're asking them to do something we KNOW they won't want to do, compensate them more! It's not that complicated...

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
