I won't be playing more than one game, that's for sure, I'm already in over my head with the ABI games. That said, here's another idea. What if, after one weeks time, and we have our full list, what if I organize the games and send out invitations to bring a higher level of anonymity to the GR Challenge? I would sit out games altogether, so I could place people, and if certain people aren't up for playing each other, then those requests can get PM'd to me directly. Are we getting too far off topic here?

The plot is about to thicken, Babak is willing to play, though I will contact both slyster and Babak about playing in the same game. For now, I will have slyster "host" game two, and I'll ask Balaran if he's interested in playing two games, one with Babak and one with slyster, in case slyster or Babak do not care to play the other at the moment.

Also, I'll throw Jacob in where his rating would rank him, updated list coming soon.

I'm also going to take my name off the list for the moment, but may play if it matters.

I'm a bit stressed of late with all the drama, in addition to the seven ABI games with a GR Top 50ish game. BUT, I'm heading out of town on Tuesday through Sunday, so I should rest up and may very well force myself back on the list before the deadline to sign up, we'll see.

Im happy to play in as many games as you like. I'm here to have my head turned about the quality of Diplomacy on this site! So the bigger the experience the better.
I think MM idea about him choosing the players for each game to maintain anonymity is valid. And whether he plays or not should be left as a vaguery, so no one is sure. Now all i have to do is get a few more points together in the coming days so I can afford to play for decent stakes in more than one game ;)

Sorry, but I think this is a bad idea.

1. If you do this, it is not a genuine GR challenge.
2. There would be no point organising us in lists based on GR if you are just going to mix is all up.
3. The initial point was to play people have highest GR comparative to yourself.

I get the impression most people joined because of the high GR rating of others wanting to play including, of course, MadMarx. It is unlikely that people of high GR joined because they wanted to be listed by GR into a great line-up of a game only to be mixed up into a group that would contain, forgive me, much lower-rated players like mr.crispy and Dan-i-Am 88. I'm sure they're great fun but that's not the purpose of a GR challenge.

To reiterate:

The Game One line up looks great to me and is the reason I joined. I would be disappointed if I was suddenly 'mixed up' anonymously into a Game 2 or 3, without even knowing, purely at the whim of one person.

I agree with Sarg, I think the intent was keeping GR of similar people together, that was the initial concept here, so I think we should keep it that way. The intent also was that there would be a host in the game, namely Balaran, but since there will at least be two games, and Balaran is willing, I'd like to see him host the top two games. Given the circumstances, I would also like to see slyster at least host game two, if not game one, and I would have tried to figure out how to incorporate that originally but I thought slyster would be taking a break from the site. So, let me post a new list, give me a minute.

The set up looks amazing! I really wish I could join. But I think that the conditions under which I would be willing to join (1. not play in Slyster's game and 2. still play around my GR group, i.e. not in the third game) makes it impossible or certainly unfair for me to force it.
