Writing a book
Has anyone here written a book? Once I finish another project I am working on, I am mulling over writing a biography of a secondary figure from the early American Republic. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with publishing a manuscript before.

The death of one of the greatest boxers who ever lived, and a huge part of the sports and cultural scene of the 1970s...may the epic Ali/Fraizer fights live on forever, and Joe be forever Smokin' Hot. RIP

Rule question! Retreat edition!
Just looking for a quick reminder (I'm still working the rust out of my long absence). If Austria's Vienna Army supports its Army in Bohemia to Tyrolia and Italy moves its Tyrolia army to Bohemia, can an Austrian Army dislodged from Silesia retreat to Bohemia?

The mods have been told by Kestas "No more point docking". Kestas wants to keep the forum separate from the game. The problem is, this time the forum usurped and corrupted the game.
Diplomat33 (243 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
Yes, that is an exception where points should be taken.
Diplomat33 (243 D(B))

We need a forum mod. Where monitoring the forums is their full job.
you wont get that either, what we need is cheaters to leave this site
Favio (385 D)

Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
No, we don't need (and Kestas doesn't want) a forum mod. As Santa says, we just need cheaters to leave the site.
bottom line, the mods won't do anything. If you want any proof look at the shit head 2 posts above. If you want more proof consider krellin, who intentionally cheated with the express purpose of ruining a game that he was losing.

weren't you in the game? He had conversations with Obi outside of the game and then squealed to the mods that he, and consequentially Obi were cheating. Then the mods had an "investigation" which said there was more cheating and shut down the game. Krellin got a slap on the wrist even though his express purpose for contacting obi, and contacting a mod was to ruin the game.

Thanks, Damian. It's nice to see at least one person is capable of interpreting a clearly stated rules system. I understand why the others are upset, but any offense I've given at WORST comes under the vaguely stated, "common sense,"
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
No, I wasn't in the one, but I do vaguely remember something about it now.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Your welcome YJ. I've rehashed this same argument so many times I'm sick to death of it. Pretty much every single time I see Draug whining about people talking about games on the forum, and pretending he's a mod and his interpretation of the rules is the ONLY interpretation.

I drop by to tell him he's being a prick, in addition to being wrong.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
I was in this game and I think Yellowjacket was unhelpful and wrong to make the comments he did. I feel it unfairly affected my game. It might not be explicitly stated in the rules but I think it's poor sportsmanship to provide a running commentary on a live game imitating the perspective of one country, especially if that game is a gunboat.

Whether he's in the game or not, everyone who actually is in the game has no way of knowing that and the comments Yellowjacket made about the in-game situations affected my enjoyment of the game but also made me deeply concerned that other players would view the comments and use them in their strategies.

Whether or not it is explicitly stated in the vague rules of the website is irrelevant in my opinion. Have some respect and courtesy for your fellow players and the community here.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Big +1 to Sarg there. Well said.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
That's a fine opinion Sarg, just don't try to pass it off as an iron-clad rule. But I still disagree. Anybody in that game who wished to follow the "letter of the law" as it were should not even be reading this post once they are aware it is about their game. Since you persisted, you have only yourself to blame... well, and the others in-game.

But for what it's worth, I'm truly sorry if it did effect the game. I don't think it did, but there you have it.

trip:Congrats on proving this site has no rules again being an asshole.
yellowjacket: trip, meet internet. Internet... trip.

So, YJ, you're basically saying that the internet lets you be an asshole because it lacks accountability. Pathetic.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
No, sir, pathetic is getting this worked up over anything said on an internet forum. And as far as accountability goes, I seriously doubt you resolve your RL disputes as abusively as you have with me here and in PM. You are as guilty as I... seems you're making a habit of that?
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Lol. I'm not worked up. I'm quite calm. Just because one defends what is right, does not mean one has to be riled. How old are you to think from such antagonistic points of view? (Not that age is necessarily related to wisdom.)

I don't feel like I've abused you - quite the contrary, I refrain from the foul language that others use, such as Draugnar and damian, and try and be polite when putting my opinion across.

I don't see how I'm guilty of anything or what 'habit' I have seemed to make. Not that I'm bothered by your baseless accusations - merely that I endeavoured to put right in this thread the constant rubbish coming from your direction and I am quite content to carry on defending my point of view against your Devil's Advocate.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
I have never sought to deliberately offend or 'abuse' anyone. If you feel I have I apologise. Although, that said, I stand by the words I choose, I feel adjectives such as 'moronic' were right in the context of the behaviour you demonstrated here.
damian (675 D)
07 Nov 11 UTC
I feel that I aught to defend my language here. I've rehashed this same argument so many times I'm bitter about it. Normally I make an effort to remain civil.

This is a special case.

A couple of questions about American courts.
In the UK, when a jury has a verdict the judge asks them what the verdict is and they say it out loud. In the 'States, once a jury reaches a verdict, they write it down on a piece of paper and hand it to the judge, He or she reads it and then hands it back and someone in the jury reads it out.

Why do they hand it to the judge first? What does this achieve?

Probably not new game play idea, maybe for tourneys
Is there a tourney here that we could do a Triple vs Triple deal with a rogue Italy? I think if we have enough players that would be a fun thing to do. I think best would be 7 players or 49. Could be fun. Let me know if anyone is interested or has a way to make it a better idea.
