Octavious, you all have massive restrictions on emissions and power across the ocean. We don't have such substantial restrictions. Many people drive 10-12 MPG cars. I drive a Honda with 25 MPG highway and that's considered top end.

What moron thinks that minium wage - the wage that is supposed to be paid to NO SKILL ENTRY LEVEL EMPLOYEES - is supposed to be "livable". If you aren't a lazy piece of shit looking for a life-handout, you get jobs, earn skils, and thus the potential to earn higher wages by the time you are on your own and need to work to suport yourself.

I have worked minimum wage *exactly once*, for about 3 months when I was 16. Then I had a resume, and fucking moved on to a better job.

The worthless douchebags that say to themselves "Hmmmm....I think I'll flip burgers FOREVER" are the problem, not minimum wage. Because....here's a clue...GO to McDonalds and get a burger made by some asshole bitching that their minimum wage isn't good enough. I guarantee you, the fried will be old, cold and soggy, and your fucking burger will be falling off the bun, instead of nicely centered with the appropriate amount of condiments.

Then again, I saw an article the other day in which parents were being chastised for posting on line video's of their children doing (GASP!!!! Wait for it....) CHORES....

Yes....it seems that the same fucking moronic liberal piece-of-shits that are demanding $15/hr for doing shit work at McDonalds are the SAME fucking moronic liberal piece-of-shits that think having children WIPE THE FUCKING COUNTER, DO DISHES AND TAKE THE GARBAGE OUT is slavery.

THIS is what is wrong with our country. It IS NOT a low minimum wage....it is a gross pathetically low expectation of humanity, and the instillation of a work ethic.

25 MPG as top end? That's absurd. Hybrids are all a lot higher than that, and I have two EVs powered entirely with renewables, so from a carbon standpoint, that's the top end. Maybe that was the top end twenty years ago, but we've also graduated from Nokia flip phones to iPhones since then too.

Google it. I did. Pretty good read, and it's free. I think it address the question at the beginning of the thread from an objective point of view (plus the wages issue too).

@James, of course there's a benefit to me raising the wages. As I told you in private, if anyone that works for me asked for a wage bump, they'd get it. As I also told you in private, I hire college students, who are, like me, part time. Once I graduate, I'll be doing it full time and I'll start hiring full time help.

Of course you can find better jobs. You can deliver pizzas at Domino's and make $20 an hour. You can work 60 hours a week if you want to. Delivering pizzas was the most money I have ever made while working on a wage.

Businesses that can't afford to pay a livable wage cannot afford to stay in business. It's the same thing as going out to eat and not having the money to tip. If you don't have the money to tip, you don't have the money to go out to eat.

@Ogion ... I meant top end for an SUV, but in general, 25 MPG is considered fair for 2005 models.

Anyone that talks about "carbon" in terms whether or not to get a vehicle....I would ***LOVE*** to find them on their back in a snow bank...and I'll take my big ass fucking 4wd pickup truck and run them over, pushing them deep into the snow.

Fuck carbon, you morons. Even the goddamns "climate scientists" are backing off on the fucking carbon bullshit.

If you want to buy a vehilce because it is more economical, I support you....UNLESS YOU ARE GETTING AFUCKING MASSIVE TAX BREAK (read MY MONEY) to buy your ridiculous liberal-mobile.

But buying a car because you are seriously assholishly ridiculous enough to think you are "saving the planet from carbon"....then get a fucking life.

@Bo

"Businesses that can't afford to pay a livable wage cannot afford to stay in business. "

no they just have part-time employees who have several jobs. yes your business does this'd can afford higher wages that aren't still livable, not ALL do. in any case, it's a far cry from a giant federal minimum wage spike
krellin (80 DX)

TdPrado...to "i'm special" mellenials have a high turnover rate in jobs? WHAT IS YOUR POINT?

At my company, we have had the *serious displeasure* of having multiple mellenials come in as Interns who *actually* think their shit doesn't stink, even though they know *jack shit* about anything, and couldn't engineer themselves our of a fucking BOX.

No...NOT ALL mellenials are worthless, self-absorbed pieces of shit...but even the idea that a fucking intern would come in thinking they can tell a company how to run, and have the fucking balls to compalain about the job, or act ith disrespect, etc....is just an example of what the hell is wrong.

Then again, these are probablt the little douchebags that *always* got a trophy, and never kept score, and for whom "spelling doesn't count" as long as "the ideas are there", etc.

Here's a clue...if you are stupid enough to drive a car that is designed by a worthless self-absorbed shit for whom spelling doesn't count, but "showing up" does, and for whome "trying" is just as important as succeeding.....then please tell me where I can send the flowers for your funeral.

Part time versus full time is an entirely different discussion. If a business hires someone for 39 hours and doesn't want to give them the benefits of a full time job, that's pretty shitty, but it's an entirely different discussion.

I don't see how a bump up to, say, $9.25 is a "giant" wage spike. $15 would be. No business owners want to pay their hourly workers $15. Krellin is right about the purpose of minimum wage and $15/hour with the current value of our dollar is too high.

If you are stupid enough to take a job for 39 hours and no benefits and keep it forever instead of walking out of them two weeks later when a better opportunity comes along, then you are chump. But I think Bo understands that in part.

I'm actually shocked to see Bo's response to the $15/hr discussion. I'm proud of you, Bo...a few years ago I think you would have slung quite a few insults at me. But I understand you have an entrepreneurial mind, and maybe you are starting to look at the schmucks around you and saying, "Hmmmm...would I pay *that* asshole $15/hr OUT OF MY POCKET? HELLLLLLLLL nooes....."
krellin (80 DX)
21 Dec 16 UTC
@Leth -- you, of course, are a moronic asshole. Find me a single instance EVER where I support subsidies.

The pathetic thing is that you such a moron that you equate "subsidies" with "tax breaks"

You see, you fucking moron, a "subsidy" is when you take someone elses money and give it to someone else to buy someone they want.

A "tax break" (and I object to the term on principle) is when you let someone keep the fucking money they earn.

The problem with the fucking liberals in this country is that they think ALL your money belongs to the government, and that they ALLOW you to keep some of it.

In any RATIONAL interpretation of that concept, we are therefore ALL SLAVES to the governement.

Moron.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

It was sarcasm, krellin. But plenty of companies will fire someone after 29 years and 364 days or whatever to avoid paying benefits. That's ridiculous.
krellin (80 DX)
21 Dec 16 UTC
@BO.

1. Running over people with a big ass pickup truck and driving them deep into a snow bank is the thing of viral video GOD-dom....

Yeah...you know it...if I posted a picture of my wife driving the neighbor kid into the snow bank, you would watch it about a billion times.

2. If you are running over some pathetic liberal piece of shit who daily quivers in fear because s/he thinks the world is **literally** on the edge of destruction....then I say you are doing that loser a fucking positive, and putting them out of their misery. Why the hell would I want someone to live to daily fears the world will explode because of a gasoline engine? They really should do the world a favor and off themselves, so that we don't have to listen to their bullshit whining fear-mongering.
krellin (80 DX)
21 Dec 16 UTC
@BO....No, "PLENTY" of companies will not fire people in such a manner. That is complete an utter bullshit, and you know it.

Would YOU work for a company that fires people in such a manner? NO....unless you are a fucktard moron, in which case you deserve it. But generally, people know such things about companies, because it becomes public, especially in this day and age.

MORE TO THE POINT.....very few companies even have "pensions" any more, instead favoring the 401k, which you own yourself, thus there is no "golden retirement" that you get after X number of years.

I'm sure that your story is probably some sob story bullshit from your Daddy....or some crap you read on HuffPo....but....

Duhhhhhhhhh........reality, yo.

bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Google Maps just confirmed that Sleeping Bear is actually more like 300 miles away from Detroit, so that, uh, detour, may be a little tougher than I anticipated.
Lethologica (203 D)
21 Dec 16 UTC
In your world, krellin, tax breaks are great except when they're for renewables, and subsidies are evil except when they're for oil and gas, and pointing this out is the same as advocating government enslavement. I bet the sky is green except when you look up, too.

YOu are a complete fucking moron, aren't you?

Again... i have NEVER supported a subsidy EVER. Not bullshti nonsense wind, solar OR OIL, asshole.

I know that you probably have extremely deficiient reading skills and all that....but making shit up just isn't cool. .....because.....you see....everyone is capable of reading and realize that YOU ARE A LYING SACK OF SHIT, asshole.

But I know...you are probably quivering in your bunker right now, waiting for the world to end...AND YET.......there you are....WASTING ELECTRICTY.....that is BURNING FOSSIL FUEL.....ADDING TO YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT....as you fuck away your time on this web site ALL FOR PERSONAL PLEASURE.

Soooooo....Leth.....you UTTERLY USELESS HYPOCRITICAL PIECE OF SHIT....AS SOON AS YOU *****NEVER APPEAR ON WEBDIP AGAIN***** because you have given up this indulgence to save the planet, I will give you high praise as a Saint, and I will sell my gas guzzling SUZ AND my ginormous pick-em-up truck.

Go away, bitch, and I'll save the world with you.

Hypocritical energy wasting self-absorbed pleasure-seeking asshole.

And if you had *half* a brain you would realize that I'm not even fucking joking, your douchebag hypcorite. People like you - "do as I say, not as I do" make this world SUCK. Worthless fuckwad.
