Okay, not much has happened so far, aside from Chaqa and some votes for Warden (though I'm sure more will have happened by the time this is finished), and despite the whole "talking about PRs is a scummy thing, let them do their thing", I'd like to make a few comments on what I think of the roles and probably some advice for the town to use/catch them. Let us begin:
TOWN:
"Medium:
You are Emperor Palpatine, Dark Lord of the Sith! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night you may use your dark side mastery to open a portal to the netherworld of the force to commune with the dead: <Quick Topic thread link>. You may only speak with the dead during the night phase, and if you are jailed you will not be able to communicate that night. You win once all mafia and the Bounty Hunter have been eliminated."
While it initially may seem to be a week role, it has a tremendous upside, when our good members get fear NK'd, they aren't done. So say the mafia is afraid of PE (this is hypothetical of course), and kill him night 1, well night 2 you are able to be privy to all of thoughts, who is mafia, why he was killed. Second if a separate PR has some big information but were unable to share it (probably due to an NK), you can get that information. Third, you can't be rb'd by the mafia so you only need to fear getting killed. However, remember to take everything with a grain of salt, much of the other players are prone to biases, but hopefully you can use their advice and arguments to seal the town victory. Just try to stay out of the mafia's sights until you have something useful (like most PRs).
"Enforcer (Cop):
You are Darth Vader, Enforcer of the Empire! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night you may select one player. At the end of the night, if the player you sensed with the force is Luke Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi, you will get a PM saying you sensed the light side. You will sense the dark side when targeting the Bounty Hunter or any other town role. Han Solo has ninja capabilities to mask his light side and seditious activities. You win once all mafia and the Bounty Hunter have been eliminated."
Basically the cop but slightly weaker since it can't pick up the third party. Not particularly strong, but if you can find a light side member, you are golden. Since the jailor will target high priority targets, you should target lower priority people that will likely live on. After all, those are the trickier people to read. Try to make sure you are well established with the town as you are a likely to be counterclaimed near lylo, lurking would not be very helpful if this happens.
"Mayor:
You are Grand Moff Tarkin, Governor of the Outer Rim Territories! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night you may choose to PM the GM if you wish to reveal your Governor status the follow day. The GM will reveal your role at the beginning of the next day phase. This reveal is a one-time ability, but if it is roleblocked it does not count as being used. After you have revealed you receive two extra votes for a total of three votes in each lynch phase. You win once all mafia and the Bounty Hunter have been eliminated."
Very powerful role, but only in the end game. The nerf to the jailor makes an early claim a not so good idea, but if you two can make it to the mid/late game you stand a good chance of turning a hopeless situation into a town win. Much like medium, stay out of the mafia eye. Your role is made especially powerful by the fact that you can't be counterclaimed. Still, be very sure of yourself before revealing, if you don't think you have a large portion of scum pegged, you can cost the town the game just as easily as you can win it.
"Jailor:
You are IT-O ISB Droid, Jailor for the Empire! During the day you make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the day phase you may PM the GM an individual you wish to jail for the night phase. You cannot jail yourself. The player will be roleblocked during the night phase from all actions, and will not be able to post in any QT (mafia or medium). Any night actions targeting the jailed player will fail. You win once all mafia and the Bounty Hunter have been eliminated."
Very interesting role here, your top targets for this will be a revealed mayor who is at risk of dying and good townie players. However as the mafia is whittled down you may want to consider targeting scum players as you can prevent them from killing anyone if down to one and if the bounty hunter has started killing, you can do the same to him. So really, early on you should target town, later on use your power to clear town/find scum.
MAFIA:
"Roleblocker:
You are Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Master, and rebel against the Empire! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia partners, and choose who to roleblock. Your mafia partners are <Mafia Member C>, Luke Skywalker, and <Mafia Member B>, Han Solo. The target of your roleblock WILL be notified that they have been roleblocked. You may choose not to roleblock anyone. If no other mafia members are able to kill during a night phase (through being dead or jailed), you will be able to make the kill that night, but will not be able to use your roleblock ability. You win once the Bounty Hunter is dead and either all of the town players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town players. You may use, and must submit night actions to this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>. "
Now a classic role, but I feel it is a bit weaker. Sure they may be able to prevent a mayor reveal or a copscan, but I'm not sure how their role affects eithe the medium or jailor. Regardless, it can be a strong role if they are good at finding certain power roles. Wouldn't be surprised if they decided to lurk a bit.
"Ninja:
You are Han Solo, Captain of the Millennium Falcon, and rebel against the Empire! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia partners, and choose on who to kill. Your mafia partners are <Mafia Member A>, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and <Mafia Member C>, Luke Skywalker. As a smuggler you are able to avoid suspicion and appear as dark side aligned if scanned by the Enforcer. You win once the Bounty Hunter is dead and either all of the town players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town players. You may use, and must submit night actions to this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>. "
If there is going to be a mafia in the center of attention, this one may be it. They need to appear townie regardless. The other ones may be able to risk something to push the scum agenda, but the only way the ninja goes down is by good detective work. Be very careful of this one.
"Mafioso:
You are Luke Skywalker, a Jedi, and rebel against the Empire! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate which reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia partners, and choose on who to kill.. Your mafia partners are <Mafia Member A>, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and <Mafia Member B>, Han Solo. The enforcer will sense you as light side aligned. You win once the Bounty Hunter is dead and either all of the town players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town players. You may use, and must submit night actions to, this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>. "
Basic mafia, not much to say here aside from look for scumtells.
"INDEPENDENT
Bounty Hunter:
You are Boba Fett, Mandalorian Bounty Hunter! You start the game with no special abilities, but by getting players with bounties on their heads lynched, you will be able to get new equipment, unlocking abilities.
Your bounties are <Player A>, <Player B> and <Player C>.
If one of these players is lynched you will gain armour, and be immune to nightkills.
If two are lynched you will gain a blaster, which gives a kill you can use once each night phase.
If all three are lynched you will gain a disintegration ray, which will stop the GM posting the role of the player you kill in the thread (you will receive it via PM).
The enforcer will sense you as dark side aligned. You win by surviving to the end of the game and being the last player alive."
The most interesting role and the one I know the least how to play with or against. My guess is this person is going to just wait in the shadows and jump on bandwagons that have their bounty hunter. To actually win they have to lynch two of their candidates, so if we can find the targets (though more likely the mafia since they can NK them) they can be NK'd to avoid being used against us. However, I have no idea how we'd do so.
So what do you guys think?
