Hi I am new, quick question
I am starting a game with some friends, can you play with less than 7 people? If so, is anything different compared to a full game? Thanks :-)

Pacific Northwest FTF
I've only ever played FTF with people who don't really care about the game and want to be done after a year, and I always feel a twinge of jealousy when I sew those people having fun playing in real life on that crappy coast across the country. This is just a post to see who might be interested in getting something set up on this side of the country. I'm in the Seattle area.

1) I'm in California 2 weeks every year. That's, like, close, right? Same coast and all.
2) I might go to Richland, WA sometime in the next 4 years.
3) I have a friend in Seattle.

Am I your friend in Seattle?

If we can get something going here, we'll be ready for you the next time you visit. If you want to drive up from Cali next time you're here, please do.

I'm very seriously considering it, although its tough b/c to be honest that's family time. My parents love RV'ing though, and they love Seattle, I might be able to diplome a family trip out of it to stop by.

Nah my friend works for Amazon.

I have a scientific collaboration with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratories but that's pretty in-land compared to Seattle.

Seattle would be very doable for me with a little advance notice.

I too am jonesin' to try a F2F game...it'd be extra cool if my first one could be with the good people from this site!

Heh, I'm terrible at F2F for the same reason I'm terrible at Live. I really need the time to analyze the board and negotiate in detail with multiple players at once.

nothing like throwing your orders into the box with two seconds left on the deadline, and then looking around and slowly realizing to yourself "holy s*** I didn't even speak to Russian, I totally should have spoken to Russia"

No need. Russia knows that the plans you made together three seasons ago are still ironclad.

I'm a misanthropic hermit whose writing is much more charming, assured, entertaining, and persuasive than my person. That's why I play online.

But what the hell. I'm near Seattle, and I'll try anything once.

As it turns out, I live in Seattle too. Never tried face-to-face, and it would be a challenge to find the right block of time, but I'd like to be kept in the loop.

To give you an idea about time, for 18/16 drop dead time controls, the average games went about 6 hours and ended in 1908-1911, but that was for tournament play. Our MA casual house games normally go 5 hours max.
Deinodon (379 D(B))

Never played live with serious players. I live in Southern California and my wife has always wanted to drive up to the Northwest. If it was during Christmas break, or next summer, I might be up for it.

or at my house. or at their house. or in the 80s.

Halfway through Saturday some very expensive, very excellent Spanish wine was shared, mostly to people not on the same board though.

Man, I say we definitely play this game in the 80's then.

Hotel is a great idea. I got some juice at the Hyatt, might be able to get a deal on arrangements there. There's a nice one in Bellevue...that's outside of downtown but a short bus ride away.

I'll be in Seattle Oct 12 - 17 for a meeting at the convention center. If it happens in that week, I'll play.

There used to be a pretty active FtF hobby in the Pacific Northwest. They hosted the WAC Con tournament that generally got a good turnout. It seems to have slowed down a mite in the last couple years, but they are still out there.

Conundrum
So the people who make the schedules at my school are kinda dumb. I signed up for both AP Micro/Macroeconomics and AP European History. Only one class of each is being offered. And they happen to be the same hour. So I need to drop one and pick up some other course. I really don't know, so what (preferably AP) course would you suggest for me to take instead of AP Micro/Macroeconomics (because there's no chance I'll drop Euro)?

Cheating accusations
Without mentioning names or game ID's, can I please clarify something.

Making cheating accusations via in-game global press is not allowed, right? The correct procedure being to email the mods who will investigate?

The people's flag is deepest red, or at least it could be. Comrade Corbyn has been suggesting he could bring back clause IV into the Labour Party constitution. I'm interesting in what it sounds like to an international audience.

Getting Germany every single game
Hi everybody, I'd like to ask if anyone has experience with an account getting a certain country every single game. One of my friends who I've played in several games against has drawn Germany out of the pot every single time. We're onto the fifth time out of 5 games he's gotten Germany.

I'd put it up to chance but we've reached 5 sigma and are on our way to 6. Thoughts?
