Boy suspender for finger gun

Apparently it's a "level 2 lookalike firearm"

@ Putin33

That's an unfair comparison. Live ammunition/live fire and gun safety can exist independent of one another. Doing live fire to test firearm safety is like going to a hospital and performing CPR on a real patient to demonstrate CPR competency. Demonstrating gun safety on an inoperable firearm is equivalent to performing CPR on a CPR dummy.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
13 Mar 14 UTC
Besides, aiming isn't even part of gun safety in it of itself. The harder part that often results in an accident is: keeping your finger off the bang switch, pointing the gun in a safe direction at all times, and always assuming that the gun is loaded.

I'm not proposing teaching kids how to shoot, I'm proposing teaching them how to handle a firearm properly and the fundamentals of its operation, which does not require the use of live ammunition or range time.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Teach abstinence then. That's what they taught us in grade school. If you see a gun, go get an adult but don't touch it. I wouldn't want a pacifist having their religious belief in non-violence violated just because the gun nuts want everyone to pack heat.
oscarjd74 (100 D)
14 Mar 14 UTC
Draugnar nailed it. The safest way to handle a gun is not to touch it.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

What's so perverse about a pacifist learning how to handle a firearm correctly?

Too many goddamned hoplophobes on here.

There's nothing violent about touching a firearm. Hell, there's not even anything violent about *firing* one, provided you're shooting inanimate objects.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Mar 14 UTC
Except for the creation of a chemical reaction that results in an explosion which fires a projectile at speeds that could slice through you.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Mar 14 UTC
Actually, the act of firing a weapon *is* violent. The fact that you are triggering a small explosive males it so. And who are you to decide what a person may or may not believe. Our constitution guarantees *everyone* the right to believe and practice their beliefs provided they do not infringe upon another's right to life or liberty.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Mar 14 UTC
And guns make a person capable of infringing upon both...
"Actually, the act of firing a weapon *is* violent. The fact that you are triggering a small explosive males it so."

What definition of "violent" are you using here?
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Mar 14 UTC
There is one too many people here who wish to inflict mental duress upon others (that would be you inflicting distress upon people who wish to never handle a weaon or have their children handle one).
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Mar 14 UTC
An explosion is violent. Go look up explosion in *any* dictionary.
I don't know why I expected anything beyond blatant equivocation

Oh I remember in third grade I had some fruity teacher that tried to suspend us for reenacting the Lord of the Rings Return of the King.

We were doing the scene where Legolas was killing the Oliphant and we of course fought over who got to be Legolas and we were pretending to fire arrows at each other and the teacher thought we were being way too violent. It was ridiculous.

Boys pretending to be soldiers or cops is normal and it shouldn't be punished.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

@ bo_sox48 and Draugnar

Internal combustion engines create "violent" explosions too via chemical reaction and create a 2,000 pound missile that can kill, but that doesn't stop pacifists from driving, does it?

If it were up to me, public schools would not exist, but since they do, let's teach kids how to properly handle firearms so as to cut down on the number of accidental gun deaths.

I don't know about the newer people on this forum, but it occurs to me that most people here try to come up with their own arguments as opposed to using the various straw men that the mainstream media use.
krellin (80 DX)
14 Mar 14 UTC
lol The mainstream media is discussing gun deaths versus car deaths? Yeah, right...on what planet? The mainstream media doesn't do *any* honest analysis of gun death data, violent crime, etc. and how various gun laws (or lack thereof) potentially affect crime data.

Tell you what... You teach *your* kids what you like and let other parents decide what is and isn't appropriate for *their* kids to learn. K? Keep government out of our fucking lives!

Comparing gun deaths to car deaths is not honest analysis.

"Comparing gun deaths to car deaths is not honest analysis."

How is it dishonest? A lot more people are killed by cars than "assault weapons", yet only the latter are subject to Draconian restrictions.

@ Draugnar

"Tell you what... You teach *your* kids what you like and let other parents decide what is and isn't appropriate for *their* kids to learn. K? Keep government out of our fucking lives!"

I would love to do that, but the radical left/Big Brother insists on educating all of our children so that they may become government-approved homogenized drones incapable of critical thinking.

So, teach them additional things you want them to learn but quit trying to fuck with other people's kids. K?

RIP Bob Crow
There are not many people who achieve as big an impact on the lives and minds of the British people as Bob Crow. I did not often agree with him, indeed I can't remember ever agreeing with him, but he was without doubt a man of principle who fought tirelessly for his beliefs and earned no small amount of respect. Rest in peace.

Need two players for a solid full-press game.
We're looking for two reliable players—either with no CDs or with very few CDs that can be explained away—to fill out gameID=137177. We’ve played several games together with largely the same group (a few rotate in and out each game), and they've all been good games with lots of press. They're pretty balanced as well--no solos yet.
