The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

What's the difference between vdiplomacy and webdiplomacy?
I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What to do?
What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

Just did the math, and given that abge said ages are evenly distributed, lowering the minimum age to join the workforce to the age of 12 adds 37 more workers. If we implement that as well as the new mother one, we'll have over 100 workers to give us growing prosperity.
@Magistrate: I think the main topic of conversation with the Elders is how to (re)create the optimal circumstances for pearl production, and how they could assist in that.

Tasks
Assign German Shepards to Royal Guard
Hang Royal Banners outside Town Hall, Barrack, Granary, and Dock
Meet with the Elders regarding Pearl Production

Proposed Policies
Add new mothers (~80) to workforce and have the Elders watch over infants (UNDECIDED)
Lower the age of the workforce to 12 (UNDECIDED)

@TMOW- I refuse to surrender all 3 letters, and the RG has vowed to defend us all equally. Thus you will select 1 letter and 1 letter only. My personal correspondance is not for all eyes. I am sure the RG will agree, and prevent you from taking it. Are my letters truly worth violence?
With regards of putting every man, woman and child to work for us, I think this is something to discuss with the Elders first. While it may be efficient to get a headstart on a feudal system, we may need to be more aware of the ramifications first.

Who said anything about violence?

This is a team endeavour and I see no harm in sharing your letters with the rest of us.
If you refuse then the conclusion is, apparently you are not seeing this as a team endeavour.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
I am seeing this as a team endeavor and guarding my personal liberties. if the king himself wishes to read my letters then I will allow. but an equal of mine? No, I do not take orders from anyone. I am nobleman and a equal member of this council and if my ability to communicate with our king, and my friends back home is questioned then so be it. But the king obviously does not question my loyalty, or my ability as he sent me on this mission.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
now, we can vote for a letter to be revealed, or respect my privacy as noble of his majesty and entertain real issues such as the increasing of our workforce.
TrPrado (461 D)
22 Mar 15 UTC
CB: Yes, they do protect us equally. And the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Any of your letters could be of threat to us, so we will need to be sure, especially since you make regard to them suspiciously. In this case, the Guard will side with us for our safety We must read all the letters.
TMOW: If you wish to wait so much, then I'm sure we could tap into our wheat reserves this month. As it is, we can't afford to throw around workers, and we need some workers to be assigned to the farmer for apples and tomatoes. We simply don't have enough to satisfy our needs. We will also at some time soon need hunters to go out and collect game.
Magistrate: I previously asked but don't remember seeing a response. Are there any other colonists of note? Specifically ones that have broken any of the laws set out by the Old Governor?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Magistrate: Aside from the 13 Elders, there are no colonists of note.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
That is not how this works. You shall read one letter, or I burn them all. and send them secretly next time. This is reality, and if these guards lay a hand on me, I will return back to the king on the next ship myself and speak to him. These are your choices. If I have to go back my words will not be as kind as my letter to him currently states. if you want to know what I am doing then I will reveal the gist of my letters:
Letter1: Things are going good, I encourage as much assistance as possible to ensure that this colony grows faster than french colonies.
Letter 2: How are the brothels running, could you possibly send profits to this colony to be used for further advancements.
Letter 3: Could you speak in my favor to the king as so he feels even more compelled to help the colony.

I am just teasing you guys by being all "suspicious" lol. But as i said choose 1 to read thoroughly and I will reveal it.
@TrPrado: Perhaps you're right in letting our wheat dip. But if we do, then let's do it in favour of increasing our structural production capacity. I'm sure the King will understand if we don't hit target the first time. Conversely I think he will be less pleased if we hit the target but let our colony spiral downward.
TrPrado (461 D)
22 Mar 15 UTC
He doesn't care about the colony. The Steward warned us of this before we set sail.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
I agree with TMOW, as long as we do not show a decrease in the pearl production any increase should be acceptable as long as we hit quota the shipment there after.
Conversely I think he will be less pleased if we hit the target but let our colony spiral downward *and never hit the target again*.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
@TrP- but he does care about the production and increasing our colonies ability to function will indirectly increase pearl production.
I suggest we:

- divert workers from Wood to the Farmer to help with tomatoes and apples
- Ask the missionary to start teaching (though what does he teach again?)

Magistrate: are we able to produce another wheeled barrow?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
@TMOW I think the missionary would teach reading and writing... otherwise he would just be teaching religion. I agree with getting tomato and apple production up. If we diversify our food then liekly we won't be as badly hit if a disease hits a specific crop.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Missionary: I can give the Children a basic education through my teaching.

Mason: I can build a barrow, but a wheeled barrow would require a Carpenter.
TrPrado (461 D)
22 Mar 15 UTC
Agreed, and pulling in the workers from wood shouldn't be as dreadful if we leave the barrow with them.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
22 Mar 15 UTC
The mason building a barrow is a good idea.

How many workers does the Farmer require, magistrate?

Also, what shall we discuss with the Elders? Maybe we should discuss morale amongst the villagers, and how we can improve it to increase production. A divide and conquer route could be good too, where we give one, or a smaller amount of them, the royal seal and put them "in charge", below us, in return for their undivided loyalty and keeping the villagers on side.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Magistrate: How often do traders come to the port?
Any ideas on how we can get a carpenter in our midst?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
To add to HR's question. Are their natives we could trade with? Shiny gold and cloth for food or labor?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Farmer: Tomatoes require 5 workers. Apples require 10 workers. Tomatoes will be ready to harvest after 3 months. Apples require 1 year to begin harvesting.

Magistrate: Traders arrive every 6 months.

Tasks
Assign German Shepards to Royal Guard
Hang Royal Banners outside Town Hall, Barrack, Granary, and Dock
Meet with the Elders regarding Pearl Production and increasing workforce
Have the Mason build a Barrow

Magistrate: Craftsmen will occasionally travel on trade ships. Or the Council may request one from the Kingdom directly.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Magistrate- Any word on natives? meaning non-colonists who we can trade with?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Magistrate: There is no one else known to live on WebDipia beside the colonists. They can be traded with.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Mar 15 UTC
Do the colonists maintain their own stores of food or gardens?

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
