The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

What's the difference between vdiplomacy and webdiplomacy?
I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What to do?
What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

@Vash ... in the HC term limit vote, you said you agreed with my logic and then voted for the thing I was campaigning against. Is that a mistake?
I thought the cool down term was the check on re-election.

I submitted two accidental HC votes...please disregard the two at the bottom with my name attached.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
20 Mar 15 UTC
@Vash bo's logic was that if the term limit was 1 consecutive then candidates wouldn't spend their term campaigning.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
I think he's just taking the final vote cast as the one that matters, murray.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
I was saying that the HC should be limited to one term consecutively so that they don't get caught up campaigning for themselves in their second term while they should be doing their job. I'm not sure what the logic is behind letting someone have two terms in a row because then it guarantees that a huge portion of their first term will be filled with distractions.

The cool-down time is largely arbitrary in my opinion. I just voted on that for the sake of keeping a decent rotation.

@abge ... are the tasks things that we need to vote on and/or organize or are they things already happening?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
HR, I'm sure the Magistrate could tell us if there are currently women in the workforce. That, I suspect is the reason we have so few workers.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Surely those chickens will be producing Eggs as well, Abge.

Farmer: What is an egg but a small chicken?

Magistrate: The list of tasks are what I will implement at the end of the phase. Unless otherwise noted, they will require no additional input from the Council.

Magistrate: The current workforce is currently comprised of both men and women.

Final decision in the HC Term limit ballot is: The HC will be elected annually and is limited to 2 consecutive terms; however after serving 2 consecutive terms the HC will be required to wait another 2 terms before being elected.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Thanks.

If the current workforce is composed of both men and women, then we need to get more people working ASAP. Once we are settled in, we ought to make that a priority.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
20 Mar 15 UTC
@HR- you are probably right. I am going off of memory on that one.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Agreed with Bo. There can't be 500+ elders, children and pregnant/new mothers. So the census will tell us where there are people we can add to the workforce.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Well assuming the age demographics of a developing land, it is very likely that approximately 50% are children/elders.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Let's get the census back then and wait to see what we have to deal with.
krellin (80 DX)
20 Mar 15 UTC
I am perplexed by this idea that you shouldn't put the precious children to work! what else do you think they are going to be doing? Playing XBox? (Yes...indeed...I had a vision last night...strange object and visions of bright, flashing worlds....most bizarre...)

Idle hands and all that. The children should have responsibilities.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
They should be receiving an education, but we simply haven't established an educational system yet as far as I know.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Krellin, I think most of us agree, but there is a limit to how much a six year old can do. We need the census to give us demographics. We also need to implement child labor as painlessly as possible so that the children and parents do not push back.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
20 Mar 15 UTC
I agree that in a advanced civilization children should be educated, but in our current situation we have nothing for them to do and to establish an education system (a luxury) before we establish extreme surplus is ill advised. So in the meantime between becoming advanced and now we have children who are not working.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
20 Mar 15 UTC
I agree we should wait for the census I just think that we should also remember the time period this takes place in.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
We need the census to appropriately decide where children can work safely and where they can't. Telling the five year olds to cut down trees will probably not be popular with the colonists.

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
