The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

What's the difference between vdiplomacy and webdiplomacy?
I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What to do?
What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

Councilor Cyrus, the Magistrate will update the scroll with the current resource consumption of the town.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Ah, so we do, good. I just saw that there were 0 in the stockpile and assumed none of them were on that.

I don't see any harm in the Alchemist teaching them basic medicine - they will still require medical supplies that only we can bring, and we'll get more labour out of them. Win/Win.

Magistrate, is this your way of telling us the population is starving? The consumption is several times the current production.
Wait, so does fish fall under the meat, in consumption?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Those monthly consumption rates are going to kill us. We need to add labor to the work force, less than half of the colonists are workers.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
No, its my way of telling you updating a spreadsheet on a phone is a bitch

The Magistrate has updated the current consumption of the town on the scroll. Fish is considered a meat.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
For clarity, currently total monthly consumption is :

Wheat 80550
Meat 33900
Wood 26850
Well, moving around workers may not work for fish. but we have some surplus wood and wheat to hold us over until we work that out.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
We have precisely 50 extra wheat and 10 extra wood.

Doing the math, each citizen working on wheat makes 600, and each on wood makes 150. Therefore, we will not have enough of whatever we take from. We have to optimize production somehow.
@KC: But we have a surplus of 50,000 wood and 80,000 wheat. While we will have to optimize, we can tie things over using the methods of moving some 15 wood workers to pearl farming for the time being.

The magistrate reminds the council there is an unused 2wheeled barrow that can be assigned to a resource to increase production
Okay, give the two wheeled barrow to the wood workers and move 19 of them to pearl farming.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Tasks:
Have the Magistrate perform a basic census
Have the Royal Guard dispatch investigate the Town and Surrounding Area
Have the Royal Guard prepare the Barrack for living
Have the Farmer settle his family into his new home
Have the Missionary observe the colonists
Assign Writing Supplies and Encyclopedia to Missionary
Have the Missionary teach the colonists (BELAYED)
Have the Alchemist teach the colonists (BELAYED)
Assign Farming Supplies, Seeds, and Chickens to Farmer
Have the Farmer observe resource management
Assign Idle worker to Pearl farming
Have the Mason inspect buildings
Have the Mason build a barn
Assign 5 wheat farmers to the Mason for construction
Have the Alchemist observe the colonists
Assign 2-Wheeled Barrow to Wood Workers
Assign 19 Wood Workers to Perl Harvesting

Proposed Policies:
Have female children farm for pearls (UNDECIDED)
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
The barrow should be assigned to wheat production, as we are taking workers away from that to build the barn.
That gives us 30 pearl farmers, which should increase the production up to the king's liking.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
We also have two months of a stockpile of wood compared to one for wheat. Therefore, it would be better to allow wood to decline compared to wheat.

How much production will the barrow boost us by, magistrate?
@HR: But we are moving more workers from wood production to ensure we have pearls.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Agreed. And once the farmer gets settled, I think we will see increases in our yields there.
Are we still moving the wood workers? Where are we putting the barrow?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Farmer: A barrow is a simple tool not specialized to any particular resource.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
with the census completed next month, we should be in prime position to assign some of the 562 people who aren't working to specific duties, which should include the wood production. So I still feel it is better to lower the wood stockpile than the wheat. We are one disaster away from starvation - which is a lot worse than one disaster away from a month without building anything.

I am mildly curious how we have such a high monthly consumption of wood though. Are we eating it? Making paper? What is being built on such a regular basis, magistrate?
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Also, I think at this point, we should only meet the minimum for Pearls. Once we get settled, we can increase. In that case, I think Vashta said we could achieve our goal with adding 11 workers, instead of 19.
KingCyrus (511 D)

Most likely firewood Hellenic.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Magistrate: Wood is used by the colonists for a variety of reasons, including fire, tools, and repairs of the town.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
That's a lot of firewood, still. Some of it must be going to waste. Hopefully the Farmer will be able to tell us where production is being wasted after his observations are complete.

I agree with Cyrus, we should only go with 11 workers. We also don't have to meet the production quota for 6 months - let's use those months to ensure we can meet it with less labour by getting as much done as possible until then.
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
KC, we would need 23, one of those comes from the idle category and the other 10 are already on the job. Meaning we would need to move 12 for the minimum.
@KC: Yes, but we have to make up for the pearls we didn't mine this month. And the production may grow logarithmic. And isn't 30 such a nice round number?

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
