Writing a book
Has anyone here written a book? Once I finish another project I am working on, I am mulling over writing a biography of a secondary figure from the early American Republic. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with publishing a manuscript before.

The death of one of the greatest boxers who ever lived, and a huge part of the sports and cultural scene of the 1970s...may the epic Ali/Fraizer fights live on forever, and Joe be forever Smokin' Hot. RIP

Rule question! Retreat edition!
Just looking for a quick reminder (I'm still working the rust out of my long absence). If Austria's Vienna Army supports its Army in Bohemia to Tyrolia and Italy moves its Tyrolia army to Bohemia, can an Austrian Army dislodged from Silesia retreat to Bohemia?

I hope he gets banned....all of them who played in this game and talked about it...
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
I wholeheartedly agree, Favio... maybe not banned, but everybody in this game who posts here should definitely get a stern finger-waggling.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
This one is totally mine.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
There's a difference between talking about the game, ie discussing in-game play and asking people to stop doing so and saying it's unfair.

Fuck off Yellowjackass.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
I can't wait to see who the players are when it's done though.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
Oh, look who's qualifying the rules, all of a suddenly? Just 15 minutes ago you were ready to crucify me for my minor outburst.... why the sudden change of heart, Sarg?
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Lol. Yours weren't minor outbursts. It was relentless discussion of on going game. I have no change of heart. You were participating in discussion of an on going game, that is cheating. All I have done is ask people not to do so and call you out for the ignorant moron that you are.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
@YJ - talking about the game is different from trying to get the others to *stop* talking about it. He never claimed otherwise. As far as banning versus dressing down (which is what I suggested you and the players should get), I'd leave that to the mods. Unfortunately, Kestas has told the mods to stop docking points.

Favio (385 D)

hah.....
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
hmm... well I don't see anything in the rules that forbids ME from talking about a live game, so long as I'm not playing it... anything you've heard different isn't clearly stated in the rules.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
No fucking way! It was Sarg! The guy saying "stop talking about it" who was Russia!

But, Sarg, I must say that had England not attacked France, you might have been stalemated at the end. Cockney lost it as much as you won it, if not more.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Ok, the game is finished. I think it's unfair that Cockney and Caesar101dog actually benefited in points from that game when they clearly participated in cheating.

Favio (385 D)

if sarg puts a " I WIN" post on here I will +1 it...
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
On that much, at least, I agree, Sarg. Can we be friends again? I'm glad you won.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
@YJ - It falls under the common sense rule. And the mods have stated it time and again here. Nobody, and they mean *nobody*, is supposed to discuss an ongoing game in the forum *even if they aren't in it*. It can affect the outcome of the game and it *is* forbidden under the common sense rule.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
This was a pathetic game for me. It is not about the win - as others have suggested - for me, it was about seeing the game through. This game was unsportsmanlike and poor quality - having people cheat in the forums and vote for a draw as early as 1905 is pathetic. I will be happy not to play any of those players again.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
lol really Draug? I had that figured out even before he told me in PM, which is a CLEAR rules violation...
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
@Sarg - Actually, they didn't. Had they managed to force a three or four way draw, they would have gotten .25 to 33 percent of the points. Instead, they got 7 and 9 SCs worth each. 9 is barely over 25% and 7 is less than. They fucked themselves out of points.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
Forbidden under your interpretation, Draug. I certainly don't see it that way. And since it isn't posted, it's obviously open for interpretation... a debate that can be carried on and settled without any further input from me, for all I care.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Well,m we can just let the mods make the decision. They have said so before. It's a priori rule that isn't written down. But, as I said, I expect you will deny it even after they rip off your head and shit down your throat for being an ass.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
Being an ass? Guilty. But you knew that before tonight :)

Seriously you can't reasonably expect me to remember every incident every asshat has gotten yelled at for, and neither should our esteemed moderators.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Well, yes I can... And so can they...

But I bet if they give you hell for it this time, you'll remember it in the future... Or not... I'm kind of torn on which way I'd place my money on that one.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
lol I don't OFTEN make the same mistake twice, if a mistake it is indeed.

Poor judgement? Probably. But not really anything more than that.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
07 Nov 11 UTC
No yellowjacket, but we kinda do expect you to read the rules and follow them. And wrong, it was more then poor judgement, impersonating another player has been mentioned as a no no in other threads by mods and should just be common sense not to do.
damian (675 D)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Draug you are still an idiot.

That is all.

Well actually I should qualify that. Your continued insistence that posting about ongoing games on the forum is against the rules, is false, and makes you an idiot.

Favio (385 D)
07 Nov 11 UTC
i wish there was a -1 button....
damian (675 D)
07 Nov 11 UTC
Perhaps you haven't been around long enough to understand this Favio. But the entire posting about ongoing games thing on the forum was a big debate back in the day. One which despite Draugnar's beliefs was never settled. But he still insists on being a prick about.

I'll grant that you shouldn't bypass the communication of a gunboat. Meaning that Caeser cheated. That said, Cockney didn't. Also part of that debate was the entire draw/cancel threads for live gunboat debate. Which was also not settled. Believe it or not.

Finally impersonating a mod is an offence, another player is not. Meaning that YJ aught to be in the clear. Strictly by the rules, as he neither bypassed communication of a game he was in, nor pretend he was a mod.

Unlike a certain idiot.
Diplomat33 (243 D(B))
07 Nov 11 UTC
Its great to see a cheating discussion where im not the topic. :) And there should be no talking whatsoever about ongoing games in the forums. And points should be docked.

A couple of questions about American courts.
In the UK, when a jury has a verdict the judge asks them what the verdict is and they say it out loud. In the 'States, once a jury reaches a verdict, they write it down on a piece of paper and hand it to the judge, He or she reads it and then hands it back and someone in the jury reads it out.

Why do they hand it to the judge first? What does this achieve?

Probably not new game play idea, maybe for tourneys
Is there a tourney here that we could do a Triple vs Triple deal with a rogue Italy? I think if we have enough players that would be a fun thing to do. I think best would be 7 players or 49. Could be fun. Let me know if anyone is interested or has a way to make it a better idea.
