also following on from TMG's revolution, i think we have a simple system for deciding who is elected. on one day (Umerican thanks giving, if that is the chosen date.) we wil count up all the new posts which contain that users name. (excluding posts by yourself)

any examples of spam, or offtopic posting by candidates will result in exclusion from the proceedings...

Guys we need to do this democratically..
1 We need a proper constition, but we know that we could never agree to one of those so we will call it an amending document, just a tidying up exercise really, without adding any new powers. Apart from creating the posts of a president and foreign secratary.
2 As this is a global community we should allow each country to hold a referendum on whether or not they like this idea. Obviously some countries would never agree that we need a new constitution....errr amending treaty, so those countries can't have a referendum. They could appoint someone who agrees that we need a new con...doh, amending treaty to agree it on eveyone else's behalf.
3 In those countries that do want the new amending treaty we will allow them to have a referendum, and in the event they vote against it they should be encouraged to keep voting until they agree that one is necessary.
4 As we couldn't possible allow ourselves to be dictated to by just one country who refuses to accept the need for a amending treaty, the executive should be allowed to bribe individual countries' spokepersons until they agree to the new treaty.
5 Then and only then should we lock 27 faceless people in a room and not let them out until they can decide on two complete unknowns to lead us and be present a united front against competing diplomacy sites.

No dude the first president gets to write the constitution. Duh. Except for one thing. There are elections every six months so the guy can't stay in power forever.

And no I don't think just mentioning someone should be a vote. Each person will get one vote on this thread if it is posted on that day.

maniac i have a huge rant about how wrong your interpretation of european politics is.

though i still prefer a multi-party system, (the EU parliment has one groups for those people who want subsidiarty at all costs, and another grouping for rightingers who don't like europe and want to make it more like a trading block and nothing more...) To the american two-party one.

Also without having a directly elected president we have no-one who can claim to legitimately represent the peoples of Europe (and lead us to war, or take my shoes...) 27 people - the executive branch - are better at making decisions than one (though while they act like a government there is no opposition making sure the debate each directive... but every law is either debated by the Parliment or the Council of ministers i.e. people from the national parliments: which sucks if you're not in government in your nation...) either way my rant is all ranty like...

My first decree as Emperor will be to ban all presidential elections. This will save much time and effort for all concerned.

Tarablus was banned, which makes him the perfect candidate. He can't screw anything up if he's not here. Also, I humbly declare that if Tarablus is elected I will be more than happy to carry out his interesting duties and bask in power and majesty this office surely brings along with it.

Just make sure that socialist The_Master _Warrior doesn't get in. He'll destroy our way of life with his commienazi oppression.

Why do we need a webdiplomacy President exactly? Our stateless society seems to be humming along just fine. What is a president going to do for us? Tax us 50% of our points and distribute it to people who have no points? Lie to us about the need to go to war with other diplomacy sites? Force Kestas to allow him to monitor all of our private messages in the name of preventing multi-accounting?

1 - We need a president to prevent the monarchy returning, I don't think you were around then but it was awful
2 - I have no plans to tax you of your diplomacy points, although some sort of enforceable voluntary contributions to those without so many points may be considered.
3 - I will not lie to send us to war, I think that if you saw the confidential information that I have already seen about the other diplomacy sites, you would agree that war is the only option. Of course I can't show you the confidential information, so you'll have to trust me on this one.
4 - We already do, but we may want to extend this.
