The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

At Murrayshoes -- I dont' know WHAT sort of simulation this is. But what I hear from you is that you want to question the nobility of service to the King.

In my book - that is Treason...and if I find that your desires are both unproductive to our purposes, and treasonous to my King...then I will do all within my power to *remove you*...
TrPrado (461 D)

TrPrado (461 D)

Intentionally or unintentionally, krellin seems to be a threat to the other councilors.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
But it is rather amusing...
krellin (80 DX)
20 Mar 15 UTC
TrPrado - I am a threat? I am here to serve the King. My first and foremost loyaltly is to The King! Where, may I ask, is your loyalty?

If I perceive that a Councilor is here under the coin and protection of the King, and yet has choosen to make this venture into his own personal project to lift up a people, apart from the goals of the King, to question the honor of serving our King...i.e. if I perceive a Councilor to be treasonous...then by all means you may absolutely perceive me as a threat.

I trust that our King's Loyal Guards will stand by my side in such a case...
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Pretty sure per the whole "nation building" side of the simulation as opposed to the role playing people are getting in to, the Guards will do what ever the council tells it to.
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
I am loyal to the King. I also recognize the autonomy His Majesty has so graciously granted us.
krellin (80 DX)
20 Mar 15 UTC
I wonder....particularly in light of the reason for us being here in the first place, are some of you under the ridiculous impression that you are irreplaceable???
krellin (80 DX)
20 Mar 15 UTC
KingCyrus...and if the Council is split on its decision for what the Guards should do?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Then HC shall be tiebreaker.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Nope, I am pretty sure the council could vote to execute you krelly :) (or anyone)
krellin (80 DX)
20 Mar 15 UTC
TrPrado - Again, if you believe you "autonomy" includes questioning the nobility of serving the King...

We have autonomy of process....not autonomy from service. Beware your words.

The people here work for us, and we for the King. Causing them to question the value of thir servitude, or even their slavery if we see fit to cause it, is *not* their place....nor is it yours...
krellin (80 DX)
20 Mar 15 UTC
KingCyrus - then we are in agreement about our purpose, our loyalty, and the consequneces.

Be sure that you educate your fellow Councilors likewise.
KingCyrus (511 D)

Stop the nonsense people. We have one goal. Produce Points. We can do that well, or badly. I suggest we try to figure out how to get the most points possible for the longest possible time.

It's one thing to play the devil's advocate or to argue an unpopular viewpoint--it's a valuable and entertaining role to play. Derailing every conversation and turning into name calling is something quite different. I agree that none of us are irreplaceable. If anyone would like to publicly behead krellin early to show the natives that we mean business, I'd support that vote.

I'm not above brutal tactics, I'd just prefer to only use the tactics that work.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Abge, I believe the vote is currently not to have the missionary start teaching.

Is tehre anything else we want to do this month?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
What should we have the alchemist and missionary do if not teach? We can't just let them be idle.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
The missionary and the alchemist should try to learn as much as they can about the people. The alchemist from a scientific standpoint, the missionary from a religious and social one.
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
That sounds quite fine to me.

The Magistrate reminds the councilors that relevant information on production can be found on the Scroll. tinyurl.com/WebDipia

There are currently 10 (soon to be 11) workers assigned to harvesting pearls. At their current rate, they collect 75 D per month. That is will below the 1000 D the king expects to collect every 6 months.

The Magistrate asks if a decision has made made on the proposed policy to ha e children join the work force.
Tasks:
Have the Magistrate perform a basic census
Have the Royal Guard dispatch investigate the Town and Surrounding Area
Have the Royal Guard prepare the Barrack for living
Have the Farmer settle his family into his new home
Have the Missionary observe the colonists
Assign Writing Supplies and Encyclopedia to Missionary
Have the Missionary teach the colonists (BELAYED)
Have the Alchemist teach the colonists (BELAYED)
Assign Farming Supplies, Seeds, and Chickens to Farmer
Have the Farmer observe resource management
Assign Idle worker to Pearl farming
Have the Mason inspect buildings
Have the Mason build a barn
Assign 5 wheat farmers to the Mason for construction
Have the Alchemist observe the colonists

Proposed Policies:
Have female children farm for pearls (UNDECIDED)
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
#VOTE NO, on children working until the census.

The magistrate also reminds the council that there is an unused 2-wheeled barrow that can be assigned to a resource to increase production.

The Alchemist teaching the people basic medicine boosts US as well. If the people can treat wounds quicker and more effectively, that means they will spend less time wounded (or dead), and more time working for us producing Points and Pearls. We want to get as much labour out of them as possible, and healthcare is an investment towards that.

The same goes for agriculture. The more efficiently they can do that, the less labour is required to produce the crops they need, and therefore again, the more time they can spend harvesting points. We want the natives harvesting as many points as possible, which means we want more of them to be free to work on that. Sure, keeping them dumb might make them more pliable, but it'd also be less efficient in terms of use of labour.

A final thing: we really should diversify the food source here. I notice we've pretty much got all our eggs in the one basket of Wheat, without even having a Mill to make this into flour so I suspect a lot of the Wheat is going to waste. We need to look toward building a Mill in future, but for now we should assign some of the Workers to fishing. Fish are not prone to crop failures, and we can keep them in our sights whilst they catch them. We may not have specialised fishing equipment but we can make basic rods pretty easily. It'll be some time before our apple trees produce enough apples, so we really must diversify the food production where possible.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
A few questions for abge, regarding resources.

The scroll says we have no fish, yet we have over 33k coming in monthly. Is it all used up?

What is the consumption rate of each of these commodities?

Is this all before the changes at the end of the month?
Okay by my calculations at the current rate of production we need 23 pearl workers to meet the King's expectations. I suggest we convince 13 of the fisherman to join the hunt for pearls. Perhaps we may need to pay them in gold to do so, but while we don't have more efficient technology the only way to increase production is more/better workers.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Hellenic, check the scroll. We do have people fishing. Also the farmer won't do anthing for us until he has started his farm. And I think it best to wait until we know more before we begin teaching *anything*.

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
