The Religious State
Having seen many opinions on this forum, I am wondering about the acceptability of a religious state. Should a state be able to be primarily Muslim, Jewish, or Christian (etc.)? Is this acceptable in the modern world? If so, how far can this theocracy of sorts go? May they make laws based upon the respective religion? How far reaching should these laws be?

Please discuss, and remain amicable.

Happy Easter everyone
On this auspicious day I would like to share with the community my belief that the resurrection of Jesus was figurative, and not literal. The "risen" Jesus is the one that won the greatest person in history tournament. Respectfully, that's what I believe. He is risen, risen indeed.

What's the difference between vdiplomacy and webdiplomacy?
I've recently been to the vdiplomacy site and it was very interesting that the interface and logo look similar to the webdiplomacy one. Are the 2 sites somehow related?

I uploaded SunZi's "Little Dipper" Android application to Aptoide
Our very own SunZi (userID=19506) once created a useful Android app Diplomacy adjudicator based on webDiplomacy code. SunZi publically published this adjudicator app ("Little Dipper") on GetJar, where it is still free to download.

For the sake of archiving SunZi's work, which our comrade gave the bare minimum of advertising (threadID=879472 & threadID=882356), I uploaded the app to Aptoide.

What to do?
What do you do when you're playing with an asshole that has the chance to draw, but refuses to do so when it is obvious that another player is going to get a solo? He's so annoying it hurts I really don't know what to do I mean it's obvious that if we continue the game will be a solo for another guy. He simply REFUSES TO DRAW

I think the issue with 12 hours is that several councilors log on once daily and would thus miss at least 1 voting session a day. hardly a democracy.

@Abge- I motion for the GM to make a decision here on either extending the time limit to allow for more participation, altering the style of game, or ending the game..... literally anything. The problem here is we all have different schedules and thus trying to run a theoretical government where only some of the people vote some of the time (when there are ONLY 16 people) is bound to fail or people are bound to lose interest in droves.

@TrP- I have volunteered to try to keep this thing running. You AGREED with me about adjudicating when we did. and my jokes are hardly reason to assault my decency. I have already proven my ability to perform the task of HC in every facet of its responsibilities. I have run 3 ballots already, I have found compromise in multiple areas already, and voted for the HC being completely powerless. But if YOU or anyone else truly wants the damn position then have it. To be honest running a ballot with a bunch of bitching people nip-picking about irrelevant details such as how many god damn question I split a ballot into is non-sense. If i get elected I will gladly continue to serve in the facet I have already, which has been the one consistent thing that this game has provided. If I don't get elected then I will gladly watch the next HC deal with this.

So my question is does everyone want work ethic, comedy, and compromise or does everyone want TrP to be the HC.

My only complaint against Councilor Riot is that they are not on nearly enough to act in full capacity to run these ballots. I have been able to give up-to-date and immediate attention to all issues and with our very constrained time-limit that is a benefit that Riot can not offer.... besides that I would gladly vote for HR in my place.

Magistrate:
Points are found within clams that reside by the shore where you arrived. The clams are collected and shucked by hand. Because the Points have little intrinsic value and they do not like the taste of the clams, there is little incentive for them to do the work. Previously, they were compensated with tools and supplies by the Governor. It takes about 4 days of work to find one Pearl. There are currently a few colonists assigned to finding pearls. At our current pace, we are set to collect 450 pearls within six months. The King has mandated 1000 pearls.

Having no incentive to spend time digging for pearls, the colonists have largely gone back to their usual tasks and so are cared for well-enough. The Farmer and Alchemist may be able to give a better idea of resource management and health.

The colonists have little formal organization. Disputes are resolved by a council of 13 elders, whose rank is determined purely by age. Knowledge of hunting, farming, etc is passed down from generation-to-generation.

Captain of the Guard:
An initial inspection gives the impression there is little to worry about in this town. The colonists are not hostile and they have primitive weapons. None appear to be trained soldiers and even in their greater numbers are no match for the Royal Guard. The empty Barrack appears to have held some hired soldiers for protection of the Governor; the Royal Guard would have remained even after his death. If the Council approves, the barrack will be suitable to house the Guard so they can fulfill their duties. A dispatchment can also be sent on a more thorough investigation of the town and surrounding area.

Tasks:
Have the Magistrate perform a basic census
Have the Royal Guard investigate the Town and Surrounding Area
Have the Farmer settle his family into his new home

Are they colonists following our religion, or shall we send the missionary to do some proselyting?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
CB, you weren't the only one at the task. I had once tried to get a form started, but you had beaten me to it, and then you said not to worry about it. You wouldn't let anyone else have a crack at it, though I did wish to. I also voted for the HC to be more powerless than how you were intending to vote, yet you fear I would become totalitarian. Further, there is the untouched task of keeping an updated record, which will go to the first HC.

TrPrado (461 D)

Would it be possible to send very few of the Guard for the dispatchment while the majority settle in the barrack?
TrPrado (461 D)

I say observe and record their customs while trying to convert them.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Observe first. If they seem likely to be hostile to conversion, we need to plan it out first.

The Magistrate has found some records indicating current resources and workers assigned to harvesting. He has updated the Scroll. tinyurl/WebDipia

Tasks:
Have the Magistrate perform a basic census
Have the Royal Guard dispatch investigate the Town and Surrounding Area
Have the Royal Guard prepare the Barrack for living
Have the Farmer settle his family into his new home
Have the Missionary observe the colonists
KingCyrus (511 D)

We should also consider building some sort of fort. For safety against a possible uprising, or perhaps even pirates or invaders.

Magistrate:
The items you brought, which are listed on the Scroll, can be assigned to advisors or resources to make them more efficient. Councilors may assign items individually or they may instruct the Magistrate items on their behalf. Items can be reassigned the next turn if the Councillors wish.

Mason:
I do not have the resources to build a fort at this time.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
True.

Captain, how well fortified is the barrack?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
Captain: The Barrack is plenty fortified to defend against the colonists, should their be an uprising. The King's Navy should prevent any outsiders from attacking the island.
KingCyrus (511 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
Beyond the town, I would like to know what natural resources this island holds. Geography would be nice as well. (anyway you can make us a map abge?)
While the census and missionary may be helpful in gathering information. The best way to rule these natives is to first earn their trust. As such I wish to bring my trust pet Zultar, 1 of the Royal Guardsmen, 25 gold pieces, the Royal Encyclopedia and some writing supplies into the village. There I will attempt to find a home willing to house me for a short period of time while i inquire upon their customs, history and opinion of their previous government. Hopefully I will be also be able to learn a few of their games and if all goes well, teach some of them to read and write if they do not already know (hence the encyclopedia and writing supplies) and hopefully some science as well while showing we are peaceful visitors. Should they deny me refuge or should I be hurt in any manner, I shall return to the barracks immediately with what news I do have. Sound well?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
20 Mar 15 UTC
The Magistrate informs Councilor KC that there is no one on the island capable of drawing a map. A skilled cartographer would be needed for such a feat.

Convoying Question - the roundabout
Let us suppose someone has an army in Yorkshire and a fleet in North Sea. However, the army is beset by enemies in London and Liverpool.
Our army in Yorkshire is going to be pushed out. If we assume the attack will come from London supported by Liverpool... could our army in Yorkshire, convoy through the fleet in North Sea and land again at the newly vacated London?
