Hey all, just a few notes I want to slip in.
First and foremost, thank you darg. For fuck's sake GMing can be a pain and darg put up with my shit from start to finish. He basically wrote this game all on his own, had flavor written out ahead of time for me to pull from to make EODs and EONs faster, and always seemed to be available when he was needed. I think I got burned out on this game at a certain point and darg definitely picked up my slack when he saw that going on. He's a great GM and I would highly recommend him to anyone in the future.
On the game itself, I firmly believe that the best player in this game was Tom. He played the deep threat better than anyone in recent memory and I honestly would not have even considered lynching him in the final days. He took the opportunity to go for towncred when it was right and didn't take the bait when he shouldn't have, and his game was just as much strategically sound as it was lucky that he got lost in the melee at the beginning of the game when the rest of his team basically shit the bed. I don't like this MVP thing, but he deserves it, hands down.
HR's play was brilliant. First of all, and a lot of people have conveniently forgotten this, he correctly saved Demon N1, and that wasn't an accident. He used the knowledge of that save to craft reads on Balki and ghug, who he thought would N1 Demon, and took a gamble. It paid off right off the bat - Balki claimed, and, at least in my opinion, ghug stayed way out of the way of the whole ordeal, which was scummy as hell. The lynch was the doctor v scum, and scum was going to die that day. HR would be able to save himself, scum would think that someone saved him and would be constantly trying to find the doc for days on end, and all the while HR could keep on pressing reads and possibly turn over more stones, all while the cop continued to rack up free scans. This was a genius play, and those of you that think otherwise need to recognize it. Had Ika not claimed - very, very stupidly, knowing that at least one of them (and from his point of view both of them) was scum - it would have worked, and this game would have gone differently. Whether town wins or not, I obviously don't know, but there certainly wouldn't have been multiple outed PRs and there would be a much lower chance for a scum deep threat to sneak through, if only the cop could have kept quiet.
There was some discussion in the god thread about players who meet the requirements outlined by the GMs but don't "contribute" in the game. On this, I'll reiterate what I said in there: the GM can only step so far into this area of the game. Minimum posting requirements mean that lurking and deep threat play, like Tom played here, has to be skillful - you have to hide within the game, not by simply not participating. There will always be a record of your existence, and nobody will simply forget that you're playing. In this same sense, though, the GM cannot police content or determine what is satisfactory and what isn't. With these minimum requirements, the GM gives you all - the players - the responsibility of deciding this. Making it our job would not only be adding GM subjectivity to the game but also removing an important aspect of town play, which is determining how each individual contributes, how their individual contributions add up in the grander scheme, and whether their lack of a significant contribution is part of a scheme to keep them from being noticed or whether it is simply the most they feel obliged to put into the game.
As for our little "snafu" in the god thread, that's my bad. I was out of line, realized it and tried to quell it, and probably made it worse. I believe that we were able to more than adequately fix the situation in the game without causing any stir, but not so much over there, and for that I apologize.
I hear that Chaqa and Vash have M30. I don't know when it starts, but the more games yall can fit in in the summer, the better. M31 was Demon and Ezio, with M32 going to Jamie and someone? It's good to see that there won't be any open GM spots any time soon like this one was. It's work, but it's fun, and some of you that like to be actively involved but also like to observe and keep track from the sidelines at times should try it.
As promised, any GM posts (including this one... hint hint) that get a +1 will be reciprocated. For each one, I will pick a player at random and +1 a post of theirs in another recent thread. Keep an eye out for that.
I'm glad so many of you enjoyed the game. It was active, fast paced, and a complete pain in the ass to GM. Wouldn't have it any other way.
