HR's play also proved helpful down the line. We don't need PRs to win.

I never outed the Vig - that was entirely Chaqa leading on teacon after I was dead.

And my play was fine. I nailed three scum out of the four alive, and had Ika/Chaqa not cc'd there (which is the truly terrible play there - if there's two people claiming your role and the lynch is between those two people... Leave the lynch between those two people) then we'd have been fine. The only dumb thing was my missing out on changing my doc save because of being on a transatlantic flight and messing up on timezones.

I played to have fun, and I had a blast. I left it at essentially a 10 vs 1 - it's not my fault ya'll blew that and let Tom win :D
TrPrado (461 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC
Uh, excuse me, I'm the one who outed vig. I nailed all 3 PR's in my N1 reads as scum and I find that quite entertaining.

Hey all, just a few notes I want to slip in.

First and foremost, thank you darg. For fuck's sake GMing can be a pain and darg put up with my shit from start to finish. He basically wrote this game all on his own, had flavor written out ahead of time for me to pull from to make EODs and EONs faster, and always seemed to be available when he was needed. I think I got burned out on this game at a certain point and darg definitely picked up my slack when he saw that going on. He's a great GM and I would highly recommend him to anyone in the future.

On the game itself, I firmly believe that the best player in this game was Tom. He played the deep threat better than anyone in recent memory and I honestly would not have even considered lynching him in the final days. He took the opportunity to go for towncred when it was right and didn't take the bait when he shouldn't have, and his game was just as much strategically sound as it was lucky that he got lost in the melee at the beginning of the game when the rest of his team basically shit the bed. I don't like this MVP thing, but he deserves it, hands down.

HR's play was brilliant. First of all, and a lot of people have conveniently forgotten this, he correctly saved Demon N1, and that wasn't an accident. He used the knowledge of that save to craft reads on Balki and ghug, who he thought would N1 Demon, and took a gamble. It paid off right off the bat - Balki claimed, and, at least in my opinion, ghug stayed way out of the way of the whole ordeal, which was scummy as hell. The lynch was the doctor v scum, and scum was going to die that day. HR would be able to save himself, scum would think that someone saved him and would be constantly trying to find the doc for days on end, and all the while HR could keep on pressing reads and possibly turn over more stones, all while the cop continued to rack up free scans. This was a genius play, and those of you that think otherwise need to recognize it. Had Ika not claimed - very, very stupidly, knowing that at least one of them (and from his point of view both of them) was scum - it would have worked, and this game would have gone differently. Whether town wins or not, I obviously don't know, but there certainly wouldn't have been multiple outed PRs and there would be a much lower chance for a scum deep threat to sneak through, if only the cop could have kept quiet.

There was some discussion in the god thread about players who meet the requirements outlined by the GMs but don't "contribute" in the game. On this, I'll reiterate what I said in there: the GM can only step so far into this area of the game. Minimum posting requirements mean that lurking and deep threat play, like Tom played here, has to be skillful - you have to hide within the game, not by simply not participating. There will always be a record of your existence, and nobody will simply forget that you're playing. In this same sense, though, the GM cannot police content or determine what is satisfactory and what isn't. With these minimum requirements, the GM gives you all - the players - the responsibility of deciding this. Making it our job would not only be adding GM subjectivity to the game but also removing an important aspect of town play, which is determining how each individual contributes, how their individual contributions add up in the grander scheme, and whether their lack of a significant contribution is part of a scheme to keep them from being noticed or whether it is simply the most they feel obliged to put into the game.

As for our little "snafu" in the god thread, that's my bad. I was out of line, realized it and tried to quell it, and probably made it worse. I believe that we were able to more than adequately fix the situation in the game without causing any stir, but not so much over there, and for that I apologize.

I hear that Chaqa and Vash have M30. I don't know when it starts, but the more games yall can fit in in the summer, the better. M31 was Demon and Ezio, with M32 going to Jamie and someone? It's good to see that there won't be any open GM spots any time soon like this one was. It's work, but it's fun, and some of you that like to be actively involved but also like to observe and keep track from the sidelines at times should try it.

As promised, any GM posts (including this one... hint hint) that get a +1 will be reciprocated. For each one, I will pick a player at random and +1 a post of theirs in another recent thread. Keep an eye out for that.

I'm glad so many of you enjoyed the game. It was active, fast paced, and a complete pain in the ass to GM. Wouldn't have it any other way.

If you have any more questions or concerns for me, please contact my attorney.

Thank you to Bo_Sox and Darg for running this game, and for DO and Ghug for stepping in once or twice to back them up. I'm looking forward to M30.

Further ahead, I do indeed have M32 and if anyone wants to be my co-GM, do let me know.

I am planning a "limited reveal" game, which I'm not sure we've had before, because I think it will be interesting to see how it changes the dynamics of play - in particular, role-claiming gambits function very differently in limited reveal.

Anyone who thinks HR's play was good need to re-evaluate themselves. He, as the Doc, got shot by vig and died when he was pretty scummy and would never have been nk'd. What an idiot. Congrats to him for scum reading one of the scummiest players? Smh. His actions were stupid and ended horribly with his death. If he was a VT, sure. But that was terrible PR play.
TrPrado (461 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC
Oh yeah it was pretty dumb for doc, and if he'd gotten town it would've been worse. But the way it ultimately worked out was beneficial for town.
Durga (3609 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC
No it didn't. It ended with a vig shot wasted on Doc.
snowy801 (591 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC
No, the way it turned out was disastrous. The potential for good in his play was immense, but the fact of the matter is that every single intent of his went awry.

I'm personally torn about it, as so far as I can see 90% of the fault actually lies in the cop and the vigi, but one must recognize that said cop and vigi would never have made those errors had it not been for HR in the first place.

It does go to illustrate what a low impact player HR is though. Thought ND was town, couldn't save him. Thought I was scum, couldn't lynch me. Thought Balki was scum, couldn't lynch him, and then people scum read him and couldn't save himself.

I want to give him props for effort though, because the thought was quite clever.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
24 Jun 17 UTC
It was the best as Doc, and I'd do it again. And will do. If people had cared less about self preservation and their own input, and just hammered that day, we'd have won. ;)
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
24 Jun 17 UTC
The whole point of it was that when I was "confirmed" cop, the mafia would be busy killing for the Doc elsewhere... meaning that the real Doc (Me) was safe from night kills. As a VT it was far lower level than that.
ghug (5068 D(B))
24 Jun 17 UTC
It was not beneficial for town. There was already a guilty on one of us, another dead, and two more under a good deal of suspicion. The town would have been in a good position continuing to lynch and preserving the PRs for an endgame where they could be used as clears.

Beyond that, it's just an incredibly cocky play. There was always a risk the cop would freak and claim. There was a huge risk that he'd be wrong because it was day fucking two. The end result if it all went according to plan was still an outed doc and cop, because it makes no sense to let a false cop claimant go un-CCed indefinitely. If you think that's a good deal for lynching one scum read, it just means you acknowledge you're unable to convince people the normal way.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
24 Jun 17 UTC
And that you could save yourself, but you didn't.
ghug (5068 D(B))
24 Jun 17 UTC
That was just funny.
You guys, HR's move was absolutely genius level. You just aren't genius enough to understand. The only reason it didn't work out is because y'all are stupid. Also, he had fun, so there.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
24 Jun 17 UTC
My psychic powers weren't able to predict that the cop already had a guilty, ghug. And the end result isn't the cop outing if I retract the moment Balki gets lynched - something the real cop can believe, but the mafia obviously can't.

Convincing people the normal way requires time and energy. Guiltying them gets you reactions, speed, and entertainment. I recommend people do it more often.
TrPrado (461 D)

ghug (5068 D(B))

I explained why it was bad in theory below that, HR. Prado was arguing that it worked out in retrospect, so I explained why that wasn't true either.
TrPrado (461 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC
And bo explained why I was right.
TrPrado (461 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC
If you can't recognize that there was something obvious and detectable underlying your reaction to it, the better it'll be for town in the future, I guess.

Is the voter fraud investigation a distraction?
Is it Republican Data mining? Beating a dead horse? Or all of the above. It feels like its designed to help Republicans gain shitloads of unsolicited free information about voters. Why else would they need such data? Why not trust the states - many of which are Red states to uphold fair elections.

New player - submitting support orders
Hi. Could someone please explain the syntax for submitting a support order? It shows up as: Army at X support move to Y from Z.
So, X is the supporting army. But is Y the Army that is being supported or the territory that they are attacking?

Being in the middle of a pretty long, drawn-out game, I feel the need to flex some tactical muscle. I'd like to propose a 3 game, semi-anon, 24 hour phase, WTA series. Preference is for a high reliability (<80%) and moderate to high GR. 25 to 50 point buy-in. Once we get the 7, games will be created and PW messaged out.

1) Hamilton Brian RR 98%, general GR position of 177
