Looking for top 50 WTA GR sub
Turkey went AWOL in gameID=98520. We caught it before he CD'd so it's not that bad of a position at all. We're looking for a top 50 WTA GR player to take over.

Missing a key build
Last turn I took 3 SC's. I specifically remember building an army in Sevastopol, and there is nothing there. I checked the orders and there's nothing there. Im playing as Russia.

100 questions
I will provide a scenario to you all, and then ask you a question. You may all ask as many questions as you want to get to the answer to my question, but I'll only answer "yes," "no," or "it doesn't matter." If you already know the answer, please don't spoil it for the others. This is a group activity so read what others have asked and work together (in my experience, 2 people solve it much more quickly than 1, and a group of 4 usually gets it in 20-30 min. of so).

As many of you know I'll be on vacation October 1-7. At that time I will request a sitter. Please keep in mind I have a rather high volume of games that I'm playing as well as high quality so i don't need someone like fortress door or dubmdell being my sitter... If interested apply within

So I got a question, but I'm afraid it will turn into a debate.
Hey guys! I wanna have sex. So instead of doing something normal, like, you know, asking my parents about it...I'm gonna ask a whole bunch of strangers on the internet. 'Cause, you know, I'm gonna be this big badass college guy who has sex all the time. Oh, yeah, how do babies work again? I don't want to get those innocent little girls pregnant right after I've sexed 'em up...

More maps!
Why wouldn't mods add more variants of game? At least these: Europe 1939, Colonial Diplomacy, Modern Diplomacy II, Youngstown - Redux.
May be these maps aren't balanced as well as existing ones, but I think they would be popular.

Oh, and every answer so far is technically correct. you asked how it was possible that the baby work exclaimed there was only two holes. All those answers are valid as to how the baby worm would come to that conclusion.

mommy worm ate baby worm
when baby worm is talking about holes he is talking about something besides the holes they went through. that or baby worm can't count for shit.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Sep 12 UTC
One of the worms hasn't exited yet. One of the worms died trying to get through. There are plenty of answers to how it is possible.
Zmaj (215 D(B))
19 Sep 12 UTC
Draugnar, they could all be correct, you're right. But something else happened. You must find out what.

FD, nobody thought of cannibalism before you, congratulations! But it's not the correct answer.

To answer ghug's question, the first person only has a 1% chance of surviving, and so 1% is an upper bound on the optimal strategy. In fact, the optimal strategy does give you this 1% chance.

One person goes in the room at a time, and that person opens all 99 of their boxes, then has the room reset to its original state before anyone else goes in and opens any boxes.
ghug (5068 D(B))
19 Sep 12 UTC
Draug, the original wording of the first problem makes it pretty obvious that your overlap solution doesn't work.
Woooo! First person too right! Thank god my ego compelled me to keep trying.
uclabb so there is no way to cheat your way to victory in yours?
uclabb (589 D)
19 Sep 12 UTC
No, it isn't a trick question or something like that. Changing their names is an elegant solution, though.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Sep 12 UTC
Well if one person has to open all 99 of the boxes, then the only option is for prisoner 1 to call out the box # and name so that each following prisoner knows which box to not open. But he only has a survivng chance of surviving and the original wording implies they all get killed if any one of them opens the wrong box. So tere has to be a problem with the original wording.
ghug (5068 D(B))
19 Sep 12 UTC
Draugnar, there's no problem with the original wording, there's just a low chance of surviving.

Uclabb, can they switch which paper is in which box? (If so, you just prearrange an order and put names in that order, which does give a 1% chance.)
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Sep 12 UTC
Assuming prisoner 1 survives, he memorizes all the names and box numbers and just tewlls the next prisoner what box not to open. eventually they all get through. But the first prisoner still onbly has a slim chance of survivng, and with him, all the rpisoners. So the other strategy is to make certain the first guy is the one with hte best memory and or seems to be the luckiest at dice rolls.
uclabb (589 D)
19 Sep 12 UTC
No, the room is set back to its original state once a prisoner is done opening boxes. Also, to address Draug's suggestion, I wasn't clear about this, but the prisoners (of course) cannot communicate after they have entered the room. Otherwise, the puzzle is trivial.

Also, someone else should throw one out!
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Sep 12 UTC
But they can communicate once they return from the room, right? If so, then the memorization one works.
uclabb (589 D)
19 Sep 12 UTC
No, no communication.

I'd love to know who was playing Russia, saw an Austrian CD and played until 1906 until he was stalemated. I (France) wasted two fucking hours for a game which should've been canceled at the beginning.

Really, I hate this kind of player...

How does Drawing affect Ghost Rating?
If I draw a game with very bad players, due to somebody CDing or cheating, and it ends in a 6-way-draw with players that have really bad GR, my GR will probably decrease, or will it? And in winner-takes-all games, is drawing less equalized than in PPSC? thank you in advance.

Help with a player who wont vote unpause.
Hello, I was wondering how I might get a hold of the mods to help get a game going again. We have one player who wont vote unpause, and as a result the game has been halted for well over a month. Are we screwed or is there still hope of recovering our match?

Thanks

Italy/Austria
I am a firm believer that if the two attack one another early, both will end up losing in the long haul. On the other hand, is it necessary that Italy and Austria support each other?
