"Nice speech...<yawn...>
You, no doubt, are a rather intelligent kid. The mere fact that you play Diplomacy indicates that to me. You also have some good thoughts. You are also grossly inexperienced....yet portray yourself as somebody who knows much.
*that* is what I find so offensive. THAT is what rubs me wrong about *most* of the youth of America these days. Most of you do NOT have respect for elders....and, I'm afraid to say...neither do you. Your overconfident mannerisms on these threads, your dismissal of alternative philosophies...that is arrogance and pride. What do you base your self-assurance on? Experience? Or what Mom and Dad shoved into your head? Or your teachers or your pastor?
Believe it or not, I grew up Christian and Conservative. I find Christians to be the worst hypocrites of all. I believe in God....I have ceased to believe in self-professing Christians, who in the name of loving all, often cast judgements on all. conservative I agree with....but it is a conservative based upon experience, as opposed to some hard-core, straight-line conservatism like you and Tettleton spew forth. You guys regurgitate ideology....you regurgigtate your Utopian dreams....and yet, nobody has ever succeeded in setting up utopia, because the random and selfish nature of humanity always screws it up.
I'll bet you are a "lock-em-up-and-throw-away-the-key" guy when it comes to crime. And yet....I'll bet you have never talked to an inner-city kid with no father, with a crack-whore mother and school that will pass them on to the next grade regardless of what they do. I'll bet you never talked to a kid who grew up in a culture where your first stint in jail is a badge of honor, and something to be respected, have you? No....I'l bet your idea of "those people" is too bad, so sad; they have every chance that you have if they only applied themselves....to which I would reply....that is *exactly* what someone who knows nothing would say as they regurgitate what has been forced in to their brain.
When I was in 10th grade, I thought i was the cat's ass, too. It wasn't until I got in to college -- away from the influence of Mommy and Daddy and church that I actually started to think for myself. Mostly, my philosophy has remained unchanged....but, 20 years from now you may recall our conversation, and you may thik, "Damn....that krellin was right..."
You are an arrogant little prick - that's why I dislike you, whether or not I agree with you. You are so full of righteousness....but you have experience with which to back up those beliefs. How can you tell a socialist he is wrong when you have never had a job, never paid taxes, never suffered or struggled or been treated unjustly by the capitalist system because of skin color, or social status? I despise you because you call yourself a MAN....and yet you don't even approximate a man. You are much more like a little bird...a parrot....just squawk, squawk, squawking away with whatever you have been brainwashed to say.
I mostly agree with you in principle...but your refusal to even acknowledge that you might be wrong here or there....that is what offends me the most, and others as well. Sometimes it is OK to say, "Hmmm....you have a point there...let me think about that..." instead of always having to have the right answer right now.
You don't treat others with respect, even though you claim to. You treat others with disregard....because if they don't repeat your own thoughts to you....and your own thoughts are really your parent's thoughts....then you dismiss them. How is that respect? You aren't respectful *at all*. In fact...you are so afraid of dissenting views, you *mute* people. That's respect? You put yourself into a public forum, but are unwilling to listen to others while you spew forth your own brand of nonsense? THAT is the very defintion of disrespect.
With any luck, you will consider my words...
Most likely, though, you will dismiss me...because you have no respect for anyone that disagrees with you..."
You sound like one of my teachers here... Do you happen to teach economics at a school in Toronto?
"How the hell is anarchy a 'popular idea'? Most of the world are not anarchists. I was. That just shows I thought for myself and didn't follow the crowd."
Most teenagers have a phase where they support anarchy...
"@krellin: I'd really love to see your version, considering mine was an exact copy and paste of our conversation"
