Serious question concerning Ghost Ratings and games...
If seven players wanted to play a game and not have it counted for GR purposes, could that be accommodated? A bit like choosing WTA or PPSC, we would have a button for GR // non-GR.

Why the kids?
In soccer matches, when the teams line up and the National Anthems are played, why are there little kids standing in front of them (in this World Cup little African kids) awkwardly - these large men with their hands on the shoulders of these scrawny little kids?

Support - have I been playing wrong all these years???
Hey - I am confused on an issue of supporting.
Example: DEN-s-KIE, BAL.Sea-s-DEN and NS-DEN
...why is the support at DEN cut to KIE?
I was under the impression that this situation would result in KIE being supported and that if KIE was being attacked by a unit with another supporting it into KIE that it would be a stand-off. Somehow I have managed to survive a lot of situations despite this appearing to be the case...Have I really got this wrong?

Sitter needed for 2 league games.
I will be in need of a sitter for my league games for two weeks in July. I'll be vacationing at a lake house from July 10 through July 17 with no internet access, then will be on retreat from July 23 through August 1, again with no internet access. Please let me know if you are able to fill in. The links to the games are below, and a third one will be starting shortly. I'll email my password out to whoever can commit to both. Thanks in advance for your help!!

1. Oh...TWO officers out of the thousands. Well...then I guess it's decided, then! lol
2. Our electoral system if set up to disenfranchise the blakcs/poor? Oh, wow...you really do subscribe to the left-wing blogs, don't you. Most polling places don't even ask for ID, you dimwit! And...uh....we voted in a black guy...how racist can the system be? You are simply ludicrous on this point. I'm sure your government is full of *radically* different parties, huh? Yes..democrats and Republicans are exactly equal...damn! You figured out the big inside joke! <yawn.....> Your arguments are unsupportable, boring and trite. I could list off the policy differences one after the other and you would still say they are the same....so there is no point in discussing this because you are impervious to facts.
3. So, if I come to the UK and start acting like a dick on the public streets and some cop comes over to question me, asks me for ID and I refuse and/or can't show him, he'll just tell me to have a bloody good day and let me go? You are so freaking full of shit it isn't even worth discussing things with you. AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT! :p

I keep hearing of this disenfranchisement of minorities. It's total bull. CNN and BBC World News be damned. It was once a practice, but there are federal monitoring systems in place at the former offenders to make certain it no longer happens. Minorities don't vote because they don't think they are heard or they think their vote doesn't matter or just plain apathy, but the fact is if they would just go vote, they'd have that influence they want. No one is stopping them any more. It's just a fucking excuse for their apathy.

I'm not an anarchist, Krellin, nor do I claim to be. Don't start that game again - claiming I support things I don't. You tried that in the Jesus Camp thread.

they tried a similar thing here, with a National Identity card, known as the Australia Card.
It was defeated. Why we should have to prove who we are without committing a crime is just well... Totalitarian
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Jul 10 UTC
People outside the US should take the info they get about us from their news services with a grain of salt just as we do what we hear about them.
drano019 (1003 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
@Jamiet-

I have to agree with krellin when he's talking about the IDs in the UK and I'm seriously curious if what you say is true. Are you really saying that if I walk around and do something illegal but can't show ID, they can't lock me up? Because that's how it is here in the US. If I'm speeding, I broke the law and have to prove my identity. The cops can't just ask me to show ID for no reason, and the Arizona bill doesn't give them that power either.
De Gaulle (0 DX)
06 Jul 10 UTC
@ Darugnar- the news i hear it from happens to be either NBC, CNN or Fox news... American are they not?
drano019 (1003 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
@De Gaulle-

You have the idea totally wrong. NOWHERE in the Arizona bill does it allow for cops to make people prove who they are without committing a crime. They have to be stopped for some other reason, perhaps speeding, or reckless driving or something like that, in order to be asked for ID.

If that's the case Drano- then you should have ID.. i mean who drives with no licence, or goes shopping without ID or something to pay with?
drano019 (1003 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Exactly. That's why I was asking Jamiet what he meant when he said "I keep them locked away at home, unless I'm travelling across borders where I'll need my passport."
Octavious (2701 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
I often drive without my license. It's quite common in the UK. I also quite often go shopping with just the clothes on my back and a £20 note in my pocket. (Just to make it clear, the phrase "clothes on my back" includes garments that cover areas additional to my upper body ;) )
drano019 (1003 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Octavious-

What do you do if you get pulled over while driving then? Aren't you kind of screwed?
Octavious (2701 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
No. You tell the policeman who you are, and he says thank you very much, and everyone's happy. If you've been pulled over for doing something stupid (i.e driving while completely rat-arsed) you will be required to report to a police station within a week or two (not sure which, as it's never happened to me)
drano019 (1003 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
I sincerely hope that you're joking Octavious. If not, how would they ever make sure I report to the police station? I have no ID so I could be lying out my ass when I tell them who I am, and then just never show up to the police station.
Octavious (2701 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Also, the police will have a good idea who you are from records of who is licensed to drive the car with that numberplate. Obviously if the only one on record happens to be a 90 year old lady, and you're a twenty something bloke you're likely to be arrested on the spot, but again only criminals fall into this trap.
De Gaulle (0 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
so if you're a terrorist you don't need to produce id? lol
drano019 (1003 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Ok Octavious-

So I steal a car. I check for the Insurance in the car (you have that over there right?) and then I get pulled over and tell the cop I'm the guy on the insurance card. Then, I drive off and the other bloke is screwed. Perfect.
Octavious (2701 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
What are the odds of a terrorist getting himself pulled over because of speeding or drinking? They're not completely stupid, you know
De Gaulle (0 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
not for that, Octavious, but more likely for a traffic infringement since they may not know the road rules there!
drano019 (1003 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
All we're saying Octavious is that it's way too easy to pretend to be someone you're not. Sure, most of the time people are who they say they are. It's the same way over here. But when all I have to do is look at the insurance and say that's my name, it's way too easy to get away with it.
Octavious (2701 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
@ drono

If the car has not been reported stolen, and the thief has been driving the car in a mostly normal way, and he happens to be the same age and sex as the chap he nicked the car from, then yes. This is quite rare, however, and a small price to pay for freedom.
Octavious (2701 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
@ drono again

You're assuming the owner has the insurance details in the car. Quite often there are no clues to who owns the car in the car itself. Only the police would know via the numberplate, and the owner, of course
drano019 (1003 D)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Freedom? What's so bad about having something that shows who I am on it? It's hardly an inconvenience for me to have a piece of plastic in my wallet since I carry my money wherever I go anyways. As for getting my Drivers License stolen, it has a picture of me on it. And with the technology that goes into them nowadays, it's very hard for someone to steal my ID and use it for themselves. In fact, I'd say it's harder for a crook to steal and use my drivers license than it is to find a car owned by a person of similar age and sex. After all, I could just watch another white male in his 20s drive somewhere and then steal his car. As simple as following a person, I could effectively steal his identity since I don't have to carry my drivers license.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
I'm satisfied that I'm not the only bloke that thinks either Jamiet is full of mushrooms or that the UK has a seriously deficient legal system hell-bent on letting car thieves get away. It's especially easy to steal a car when it is owned by the ambiguous Pat...

Regarding the stupidity or lack thereof of terrorists....uh....blow yourself and get 40 virgins in heaven? Eeee gads....first of all, the whole "virgin" thing ain't all it's cracked up to be. It would be nice if the chick knows what she is doing. That being said...$) of them!?!?1 Eeee gads...I think I'd rather survive the bomb blast with no limbs at all - including the 5th limb - than put up with 40 cranky bitches...So, I conclude that terrorists are complete dumbasses.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Oh...that's *40 of them*, not *$) of them* I was so horrified by the idea I mistyped!

This Time On Philosophy Weekly: But You Don't Really Care For Music (Do You?)
Plato certainly didn't seem to have a problem banning a good deal of music (including whole styles and instruments) in his ideal Republic...however, Kant and Nietzsche both agreed (a RARITY) on the importance of music, Nietzsche going so far as to infamously claim "Without music, life would be a mistake." (And to prove I'm a Nietzsche dork- my favorite composition of his.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yoFL6C2Rjw&feature=related How important IS music? Which kinds? To whom?

I hate to open the can of worms twice ina day (I've already done my "This Week in Philosophy" bit...) but this isn't a can of worms, folks.
