If they have less than 100 , does it even matter? How does that work?

You only get your 100 refilled at the completion of a game. So if someone with less than 100 was to have points taken away for making an accusation in the forum, it would have an affect, but only until they are eliminated in a game. Unless of course they actually make some points in a draw or win, in which case it would have an effect.

I was talking about available points and not total points.

I really think this thread is working so far. Let's see how long it lasts, but we've been accusation-free for a few days.

I don't think deducting points is much of a punishment. What about banning people from joining new games for a period of time based on the offence?

I don't think the mods have the power atm. Also, I think for some that would be too much of a discouragement and for others not enough. For minor infractions, I'm in favor of removing points.

I'm even more in favor of being awarded points for good deeds : )

Its pretty minor, hence just removing points.

If you haven't any points to remove, I'd just take your points for a time before giving them back at a later date. This acts as a ban from joining new games.

I am with you Jamiet99UK, most of the accusations are groundless, but they don't seem groundless to the people making them.

For some players they think they know, but they're not sure, but they don't know any better.
This forum doesn't have sticky posts or a search function, so even if you wanted to avoid repetitive topics, as newcomer, it would be hard to know. TGM can keep posting these threads but it won't stop people from posting accusations.

Yes they respond. The time varies - from hours (at best) to weeks, or not at all (rarely I would imagine). TGM has been working very hard lately, clearing the backlog of complaints. TGM deserves a knighthood for services to the webdipomacy community. He really is astonishing in his commitment to this community (as well as his brilliance).

That tends to vary without rhyme or reason. I try to respond, but sometimes (particularly when lots of people have mentioned the same people) it doesn't happen.

Sorry, TGM, I have no doubt that you are right on top of things. There is no doubt lag due to timezones and when people log on to their email etc. I also I said, "not at all". Personally I have had no experience of this, so it might not be true.

This is not a specific criticism aimed at you, TGM, but I think it is very, very important that every geniune email to the mods, especially regarding issues like this, recieves a reply, either in the form of an email or a PM on here to the user.

Otherwise, what is the point of posting threads on here saying "don't complain on the forum - email the mods" if people are not going to get a reply to their email to the mods?

If users cannot rely on the fact that their complaints will be investigated, they will have no confidence in using the moderators email as a way of pursuing complaints. This is likely to result in yet more annoying forum threads about cheating allegations instead.

I'm not saying that I don't investigate them, but rather that (man is fallen yadda yadda) I don't always reply.

If that happens, send another email, and we'll check it and reply.
